Beautiful birds, and nice strategy for getting them in your yard. NOW, if we can just get more PEOPLE into the ORIOLES beautiful “yard” inBaltimore to watch them play baseball…now that’s a win win! They are very good again, so anyone in the area…head to Camden Yards for an awesome experience, and go see some ORIOLES!

    Would they love orange marmalade?

I’ve never tried it but have heard from others they had limited success with it.

    Like human grape jelly

Yep. Grape jelly from wherever you buy it. We do advise to avoid the jelly with high fructose corn syrup

Yes. It has been a feeding method for orioles for close to 50 years now.

Kind of an obscure request, but how do you attract indigo bunting and rose breastfed grosbeaks

Indigo Buntings will eat several different seeds. I most often see them feeding with my goldfinches on the mix of Nyjer and fine sunflower kernels. A good friend puts out a tube of white millet just for the indigos each spring. They will also eat Black oil Sunflower. Rose-breasted Grosbeaks are cousins of the cardinal so they are attracted to the same seeds. Primarily sunflower and safflower in an open tray or hopper feeder.

Do you keep feeders out in thunderstorms

Most of the time. If it is going to be a bad time be, I may take them in. It is important to get rid of the wet seed quickly and d replenish with fresh.

I’m having a difficult time finding grape jelly without high fructose corn syrup. I found Welch’s natural grape ‘spread’ made with sugar, but is that the same as jelly? I’ve read somewhere not to use jam.

Do you know what time they stop feeding and when they go to sleep during the spring summer? I just got my first visitor yesterday but I didn't see her after 4pm. And then I heard her chirp at 1am because I was trying to kill a mosquito that bit me lol

I am so sorry I missed this. We generally say the start their roosting cycle about an hour before sunset but their is a lot of variation.
