The reasons Andromeda is garbage because, A, it's buggy as hell, B, it took the best bits of the original trilogy and decided to get rid of them, C, decided to give up on the story midway through, and (or possibly because of) D, had the dev team changed three times during its creation!

Loved the original Mass Effect trilogy for it's characters and story. One of the few games that I played multiple times. As far as ME:A goes, I thought it was average at best. Gameplay was fine, but the story and it's characters I found quite dull. It will be the only ME game that I don't care to play-through again. : /

I remember playing the EA Pass trial of this game. They had to patch in more skin-tones which I think alone highlights the development woes this game underwent.

I 100% agree though, this game No Mans Sky level hype and in the end the game just was crap. >.< Beyond the interesting concept of the story, there was nothing that made me want a second game. Especially when I had to start looking after bases. I mean I get its a game about creating colonies, but I don't REALLY want to maintain them. None the less I 100% completed the game because I am OCD. I really hope they make a new ME series but have the ORIGNIAL Bioware team do it.
There was nowhere near any nms kinda hype. thats complete bollocks. It only got attention when facegate happened. And beyonf facegate mea was actually a decent game. Which goes for ME2 & 3 as well btw. Only 1 was really good. But the "first" bonus is part of that. Funny how in a negative hype like mea, all faults of 1-3 (esp3!) suddenly are forgotten and they are unmittigated masterpieces....

I knew they had some sort of connection with the Empire. As for the game it self, One huge disappointment was the way how you communicated with the new alien races. After the first mission you had instant language translations... and you were buddies with them straight away, they said you weren't, but you totally were.
This entry kinda reminds me of the game I found most disappointing in 2017, Dawn of War III. The only things I really liked were the music and the looting mechanic from the Orks. Same the Necrons never got their moment, but perhaps for the best.
I very much appreciated the 8 minute ad placed in the middle of this video, just telling me about the Titanic II. I wholeheartedly endorse the idea of the creation of a new Titanic, as the last one was an overwhelming success.
Always loved the ME Series. Have every collectors edition including this one and have thoroughly adored the games for all 4. To the point where I'm deeply disappointed that this is unlikely to get a sequel. I won't defend the shitty animations and lack of play testing that was obvious in the initial release however I would still highly recommend playing ME:A as a foray into intelligent character design and how to humanize an entire universe of characters. I would however start with ME:A before the original trilogy so that your experience greatly improves as you carry on.

Not going to lie, this broke my heart all over again :( I actually heard of the problems before I got around to buying it, so I was able to wait until all the patches came out and my experience was infinitely better for it. Maybe that's why I have much more fondness for it than the poor people that played it on release... I still hold up some hope that they won't abandon the Andromeda galaxy entirely. There was potential there to do something interesting but I worry that the entire location is just too poisoned now :(
EA fucked it up by pushing the launch, so I don't hold it against Bioware for how it was before it was patched. It was a super good game after the patches, and I hate that because of the early impressions and the (imo overblown) negativity that we likely won't get a new ME game, or an expansion to this because the ending left so much room for more story.

It's something I greatly appreciated in Uncharted 4 and God of War; if the conversation was interrupted, they'd just restart it at the next available opportunity so you never missed anything.
It wasn't a terrible game it actually had quite a few decent ideas but too much filler that made it a bit boring to slog through the dross until you got to the next good bit. It a game which does what every ubisoft game does too add hundreds of hours of generic busy work that rather than adding to the game just gets in the way. Basically its equivalents are the Assassins creed games in London and Paris, ok but not much more than that, which is disappointing rather than objectively terrible.

ill be honest, i quite enjoyed ME:A. when i first heard about its development i wasnt hyped, i was skeptical and thought it was nothing more than a shameless cash grab that would end up being a cobbled together version of a half-baked generic space game and ME assets. on launch all i heard was 'hurr durr the animations are funny and therefore this is the worst game ever' so i figured give it a bit of time for them to patch the animations and itll be peachy. so i picked up the deluxe edition brand new for $30 3 months later and enjoyed the fuck out of it despite there still being an occasional minor graphical bug. the story of the game was not only better than i was expecting, but better than i hoped and the ending mission was the second best of the franchise. the baddies were unique looking and interesting despite the early twist being super telegraphed. overall, when i played it, id say the game was a solid B-. a few graphical bugs remained, the running was still goofy, and the human character models all look off in general, with or without animating i think its a shame the game released in the state it did, whether it was EA being too strict with its deadlines or bioware: montreal not giving much of a fuck or some combination of the two. behind the bugs and the odd animations it really was an enjoyable game with an interesting story that i want to see more of.

If played today, get the Sam shut up mod. It disables the constant hazard warnings which are the single most annyoing thing in this game.
