Can you do a video on how to fix weak knees? Gonna need cause im praying that youll make videos forever
Best comment EVER!!!!!!
Haha cheers, buddy! I appreciate that.
I'm not going anywhere!
🙌🙌🙌
Go to the gym.
I just got done with my third brain surgery and I gotta say, it's been hard to get back to even my rudiments, but I go back to your archives and it's the ONLY videos that are getting me back to my skill level the fastest. Thanks for these videos, truly a blessing!!❤
I'm so glad to hear that my videos are helping you on your road to recovery! That is incredibly heartwarming to hear. Keep pushing forward and never give up!
you're a friggin' life save. man! I need this!
Happy to help out! :)
This is so great!! My left hand sucks haha
Haha trust me, many drummers (including myself) still struggle with the weaker hand!
Thanks for watching, bud!
this is going to be fun to practice! cheers
Nice! Have fun :D
This is really fun and helpful. I appreciate you making this video!
Glad it was helpful!😃
I appreciate that you show grooves that can help my left hand, because the other exercises like strokes and rudiments sometime feels like I'm not utilizing it in my playing. I'm still doing them, but grooves are the main reason I drum haha 😅
Thanks a bunch, buddy!
It's good to practice both, but yeah - I agree. Grooves are what we get paid for (most of the times haha!) 😃
I appreciate this so much. I'll try to practice these grooves as much as possible. Could you possibly make even more weak-hand exercises?
CHEERS CJ!!
I definitely will! Thanks for your support, bud!
whoa the mini gun lfg.
i would love to see a double bass drum warm up coupled with the mini gun. a full 20-22 min warm up! if you are looking for video ideas. i can't find any video on the internet that is a good double bass drum practice/weak hand groove warm up/practice at the same time, hint hint. :) have a great day buddy!
Great idea, mate!!
Very great stuff. Getting both hands acquainted with every part of the kit at equal strength and speed builds up that independence and consistency. Great beats man
Thanks a lot, mate! Always fun to see you amongst the comments! 🔥
Why thanks! Enjoy the content very much, as well as just a vibrant musician you are!@@ThatSwedishDrummer
I like! I'm looking forward to the drums ASMR.
I'll try to get that going soon! :D
OK. I especially like hearing hearing hearing fingers tapping on the drums. It sounds super cool.@@ThatSwedishDrummer
Love your lessons and love your hair!
Thanks a bunch!! :D
THank you so much for this! Fun grooves too!🔥
Thank you! I'm so glad you like 'em!
Thank you!
You're most welcome!
Great lesson! But of course my hands are equally strong (or nowadays, rather weak...)... :D I remember trying to catch up with Clyde Stubblefield (he played a lot with James Brown). His "in the pocket feeling" was insane, especially in songs like "I´ve got the feelin´". It is hard to find something funkier when it comes to drumming, and to set the ghost notes in that song is certainly a challenge for the left hand. I also played Sting - "Nothing 'Bout Me" (it´s Colaiuta drumming I believe), and changed hands between the highhat/snare. It´s such a nice groove in the perfect tempo. Playing a straight beat with the left was good practice and playing ghost notes with the right was fun too.
Otherwise I was always jealous of the few "left hand drummers" I met and saw playing. A normal drumset setup is perfect for them, while we "right hands" have to cross our arms and do all the crazy shit.
Mate, thank you for such clear and succinct lessons. I really appreciate your manner, positivity and encouragement. As a drummer who has recently joined a band after decades of having put his sticks away, I have benefited greatly by your videos. Are you in a band currently? You are a highly gifted percussionist. Love the way you make your way around your beautiful sounding kit. May I ask what brand your kit is? Thank you again. Peter from Australia.
Thanks for the kind words!!
I play in several bands actually, but I've got a new album coming up with an artist called Louise Lemón (check us out on Spotify!)
And this is a Pearl Reference Series kit :)
Cheers, mate!!
Have you ever considered teaching for drumeo? The app features with your lessons would be a great fit!
Maybe one day, who knows!
Thanks for your kind words :D
whoa this is a good one. very tough. needed some weak hand exercises. thank you!
Awesome! Hope you have fun with them, bud!
Thanks CJ, good lesson. A question about groove #2, the accents on beats 2 and 4 are just on the snare or also on the hihat?
The snare.
You can accent the hi-hat also, but it won't sound super obvious anyway. Accents in a groove mainly refer to the snare drum :)
great work, your snare drum sounds amazing, what is it? Tama ?
Cheers!
It's a Benny Greb signature brass snare (by Sonor)
El segundo lejos me cuesta mas 😯
Hi CJ. Useful as usual, but one of the score (Skärmavbild 2023-11-14 kl. 11.11.27.png) does not seem to relate to the cureent lesson. Could you check this ? Thank's and keep on
Oh darn, you’re right! Haha I’m gonna swap that out. (That’s from an upcoming lesson actually! 🤣)
Hello CJ, why did you take off , the 8’´ Tom?
At the moment I'm not in need for it on my kit (+ that I've let my gf borrow the mic I use for that tom for her studio!)
It might come back soon, though! Ya' never know ;)
I'm left handed but I play right handed drums I'm messed up. i need to strengthen my right hand. thanks for the help.
Just curious; How come you play a right-handed kit if you're left handed? :)
Further to my previous comment, this is the transcription of the 1st groove that I can't find.
It's fixed with the new link! (check the community post again!) 😃
Thank's 😁@@ThatSwedishDrummer
first beat -> michael jacksong - they dont care about us
I dont have a weak hand🗿
Haha, alright then!
The sound is out of sync. Is it me? Or the video?
Nothing wrong here on my end, both on phone and computer
