About Us:
We are a family of 6 currently building our dream home our 20 acre homestead in North Idaho. We garden, raise rabbits, chickens, sheep, homeschool, and do just about everything that we can ourselves to achieve a self sufficient and debt free life for our family.
Wow, that looked like real wood, now I can build a cabin in the woods and never have it rot or burn.
The grey with your black windows would look so good!! I love the grey. What a cool product.
@ Jennifer Jonhson...I agree with you 💯% 😊❤️✌️
I feel like Everlog needs to thank you guys. You definitely hooked them up. I'm in the industry and I had never heard of it. So I think they should be sponsoring your build
Wouldn’t that be great
@Iron *Fe* I’d be surprised if the engineering of this project didn’t take all of your concerns into consideration. More than likely all of these have been addressed!
My guess, a deal was made either before or after their arrival to Everlog. Nothing wrong with that. Both parties will benefit.
@@Klink52 absolutely nothing wrong with that. Im all for the family saving some money. In fact im hoping that they got their materials sponsored. Plus the siding appears to look amazing.
Simple. You take real logs and make molds out of them. Then pour your mix into the molds.
It's so funny, I was a Deputy Sheriff in Georgia. I wanted to get my family away from all the crime and other stuff going on in the south. We moved to Montana back in June and are trying to build our house and start fresh... unfortunately we got run out of our area by the Alder Creek fire. We've since returned and continued trying to fulfill our dream. Best of luck on your adventure from your neighbors!
One thing to take into consideration when defending your structure against wildfires are the eve, soffit, foundation and gable vents. Embers can get in and ignite materials even in settings like yours where there is plenty of defensible space. There are vents that are essentially spark arrestors and will expand and close off as heat increases. This in addition to a sprinkler system can make a huge difference
I was thinking sprinkler system as well, BUT... If wildfires approach, the power will be cut off. Then no sprinklers unless it's solar powered, if the wildfire takes out the solar.... Again no sprinklers. There is no perfect solution, but making your landscaping fire resistant will help. Rock mulch, no big bushy plants up close etc. You could even make a road all the way around the house and gravel it so that it's a firebreak as well as a circle drive.
Eaves and soffets can be constructed from metal siding.
Do you plan on building a Firebreak around the outermost perimeter of your property and even consider a second Firebreak into the property from the perimeter tiebreak should you decide to do this. Along with other Possible recommendations you have received.
Sprinklers are all well and good, but embers getting blown into the vents( which will need to be installed to prevent mold in the attic) so the spark arresting vents will be a must.
@@18rcurry I built a concrete brick wall around my house neighbors houses went up in flames the firemen used my home as their base. In my opinion that's the way to go
I really like the look of the darker wood that Jeremy held up against the window at the end.
Same here
I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say “ you all deserve to regularly step away from the house build and do some great FAMILY TIME !!
Those are the true memories everyone will remember
Watching your family at the hotel really brought back memories of when our kids were young like that. We sacrificed a lot to have those family times. We cherish it and miss it so much. We know it was the right thing to do!
That grey with the black trim windows looked soooo good. Whatever you choose will be worth it , if affordable, in the long run. This is your forever home.
Hmmm I’d think the grey would look ideal with the black roof and windows. I love the joy you all and your kids bring to everything ♥️
I totally agree, the weathered grey would look great with the black. As an added plus, the post and timbers that make up the front gable would act as an accent to the front of your home. In contrast to the grey and black, the timbers would pop!
Wow with concrete siding and metal roofing that's a VERY GOOD combination to help ward off damage from fire for sure!!!! It was great to see the kids and you all take some time for some family FUN that is for sure a must do with the building of your home. God's blessings to you ALL.
I loved when you said: “Ok guys Load up”! My Dad would say that Anytime we were Going Anywhere… (I sure miss My Dad & my Momma 😔) we were a Family of ten! Did most everything together💕✨
watching your channel brings back such great Memories of growing up with seven brothers and sisters and of course Mom & Daddy ♥️
Blessings to you and yours 🙏✨❤️
❤
We think the golden siding would really pop with your roof and windows! My husband is a retired firefighter and agrees that cement siding is an awesome product. Whatever you decide, we wish you many blessings. We enjoy sharing your journey!
It looks terrific.
Never knew this product existed until now
I found them a little over a year ago.
If I were rich I would get the 8" round logs in the gray.
We love watching y'alls videos and progress! I'll have to admit that my favorite part was the "no left hand turns" frustration! This is so relatable when going on any type of family trip. If those wildfires ever get too close for comfort, come visit us in South Louisiana! Thank you for entertaining us week after week!
It was so much FUN to see you playing in the water. A WONDERFUL AMAZING FAMILY TIME and FAMILY MEMORIES. Just what you all NEEDED. A break from working so hard...
I never knew about this company. I would LOVE to have a log cabin home.. A good alternative.
Ah pick what makes you happy 😊 because you have to see it daily. Everyone else has an opinion on the colour, that’s because we’re all different. So glad the children had a little time to play. Enjoy life and all will be well! God bless
I think either of the wood shades would work, but I honestly like the darker one better.
The AD was stupendous! I'm guess that one was Melissa's brainchild. 🤣🤣🤣
😆 🤣 thank you 😊
I also like the darker one.
@Paulla Wells. Definitely agree with you 😁👍💞
I don't understand why so many people dislike this channel, this channel is my favorite, great house building so fast and have great kids and animals.
I am from a village of India presently 68 years old , I have seen most of your videos I appreciate your idea .I wish all success of your planning and implementation. Best of all to your family.
Omg 😆 🤣 I laughed so hard with your sponsored commercial!!! I just love that you guys make it fun to watch unlike some other UA-camrs that say read a bunch of facts about their sponsorships.
I loved that indoor swimming pool too! Can’t wait to see what color you guys pick for the house.
A great alternative and a most productive trip. This feel like a tremendous burden off of your shoulders. I also vote ufor the dark brown. And, the suggestions you received about preventing embers from bypassing the concrete siding and finding their way into your wooden infrastructure were excellent. Soffit, facia, vents; all are vulnerabilities. Jeremy, time to put on your fireman's helmet and and assess your home's survivability as a bunker against heat and flame. A limited sprinkler system might be a creative and effective defense. I picture a cloud of spray thrown up around your house by a series of strategic placed nozzles, some even installed in the surrounding landscape. Good luck.
My sister in law is a top designer in Dallas Texas, and would totally would go with the darker brown! At first I wasn’t sure until I saw it against your house and BAM!
Don’t get me wrong, I love the others too, but like you said, the gray is not only more of a coastal look, but it’s more of a modern look. And the darker one would tie into your currently standing barn. You don’t want that barn to stick out like a sore thumb. Dark brown!
Agree 100%. I thought lighter at first until you had the samples up at the end. Wow! That darker sample just popped! Brought the whole build together. BAM!
For where you live the darker color will be the best what a beautiful family and smart choices you're making God bless you I love you guys should be at A Million by now don't know why you're not
It is so cool how your kids take care of each other and make sure they are safe!
The weathered grey looks fantastic.
I also love the weathered grey.
My favorite part of this video was Melissa’s closing🥰 Just those precious moments we can squeeze in, take a deep breath and hug. Beautiful ❤️
I sometimes put concrete sidings on a building. There are cutting blades for fiber cement on your circular Saw. from DeWalt and Bosch. Worked perfect
Hello from Siesta Key Florida
We like the barn gray, second choice the darker one . In the end it's y'all's home.
That siding can't be cheap $$ but looks to be the safest way to go.
Over the barrel once again.
That's life, just like the left hand turns.
Revenue for the town.lol
That's a memorie the kiddies will never forget. Ya'll are a good mommy and daddy.
It appears the GREY siding matches the dark windows and roofing the best.
The siding looks like a very good option for your build. The grey looks really nice. For fire protection also look into eve and soffit protection. After the Camp fire that burned Paradise, CA. is was found, many structures that burned had fire retardant roofs and siding. The fires made it into the structure through the eves and soffit. Thanks for this weeks episode.
True, but who wants the only house standing among the ruins??
@@lynettehillery8231 I had MANY friends lose their homes in Paradise/Magalia/Concow to the Camp Fire. Absolutely true the very few lucky that had their homes standing kinda wish they’d lost theirs too. They have to go home through devastation and bad water.
James hardie has a concrete based soffit
Y’all need your own reality show on HGTV. The journey you’ve been sharing with us has been inspirational. Good luck 👍
This looks like an awesome product for what you are trying to achieve. Watching you at the water park with your family brought back memories of long ago when my kids were young and still at home. Again, thank you for taking us on this journey.
Love that siding. Both my husband and I agreed that we loved the gray weathered with your black roof and windows. It would look awesome.
I'm loving this Episode fun time with the family. Enjoy your little trip God 🙏 Bless your family.
I was an avid enemy of artificial material before, but honestly, most of it today are both looking good and have a purpose (in this case the fire protection). From a distance it is sometimes even hard to tell the difference with some products, when they include an "irrational" patter and even imperfections. I like the wood colors best :)
This is going to look amazing on your home. I can’t wait to see the installation and transformation of the look on your home.
I think the "golden" color looks best. Your black roof will really make it pop. The grey, to me, is to drab looking. Also, have you considered putting a stone veneer on the gable areas? I think that could give you a lot of color variation.
I agree with you on the golden brown.
We really like the darker brown/tan you held up against the window. It gives a great contrast and looks most like wood. Best of luck!
Love the gray with the black window. Simply beautiful.
Definitely golden to match your golden mountains. YES please.
I really like the gray, because that's how my fences always look 4 years after they are built. It will look like it has always been there, instead of looking like it just arrived.
Love the siding! The weathered grey would look really nice with the black roof and window frames.
The golden colored siding looks fresh and will look great with your black roof and window frames... against the lush green and sky background. It will also make the house look bigger.
The house is turning out to be SO beautiful! Keep up the great work, and thank you for sharing your journey! I'm excited to see the progress y'all are constantly making, and I'm sure your family is even more ecstatic! Congrats on everything y'all 💜
I think you guys have done such an amazing job already, so no matter what you choose it's going to look awesome regardless. God bless you all.....
The weathered grey would maintain the palette of the pole barn that seems to blend in well with its surroundings. I don't think you can go wrong opting with the fire-resistant nature of the concrete siding.
You guys are my guilty pleasure! Please keep doing what you’re doing. Thank you for letting us come along with you. I wish you happiness and continued joy on your adventure!
The black trim around your widows will accentuate the knotty look in the siding , very cohesive !!!
i would go with the more natural wood colors. I agree the 'gray' looks more like the coast or aged teak. I have seen 50 yr old log cabins that are still brown and gorgeous.
For what my opinion is worth :-)
Consider a pond so you protect the house to some degree
@@pamelahoward543
Some YT channels in Texas (April Wilkerson) and Arizona (Handeeman) have 28K and 30K gallon water catchment systems. Between their pole barn and new home they would have enormous surface area for rainfall havesting. Erect the storage container between the buildings, lower than well house.
They are treated logs out when. Bcuz natural logs turn gray.
When we used to drive across Montana the question we always asked was "are we there YET"? You guys have been so smart in your entire move and build.
Amazing content, your travels, heart breaking fires(prayers) yet beautiful scenery, lovely family fun, brilliant new siding content, your adorable humor, love your shirt Melissa and ex cops aggravation with city layout was priceless(we live in a small town with only a few traffic lights too). Thank you for bringing us along for the adventure! Blessings and much inspiration!
You all look like you’re having a blast at the water park! Jeremy was fun to watch too! Beautiful family! 🥰
Hi guys, I just love that siding never seen anything like that before. That would definitely pick that myself. Boy they are coming out with some nice stuff. Just found you guys a couple months ago and love your videos and life style. Take care, from Kincardine, Ontario 🇨🇦
My sister and her husband put concrete siding on their lake home. Looks like wood siding . Beautiful. No maintenance which is great for them at age 70
I think the dark looks better with your black windows, would be nice if you could see a houses with the light and dark. Jeremy filming inside the water slide ride was great!
I really liked watching you take the trip to find a new product for your house, and at the same time carve out time for you and the children to have fun together. Also to relax away from the daily scenery and ENJOY city living again: to turn right only and see how quickly you can get from point A to point B. God bless all your days, your decisions and your down time/play time as a family!
Always love your epilogue Mellissa, so wise and so calming. God bless you and your family.
The gray with the black look absolutely gorgeous cannot wait to see what you guys choose
That's going to look amazing. And I'm kind of interested in that product myself
Give them a call!
Love seeing the smiles on the kids faces and the fun they were having at the pool! Liked all the choices, but leaning toward the darker one. It should definitely be your preference!
What a great siding option. This would be good in high humidity areas that normally shy away from a log cabin style to keep termites/critters away. I think either of the browns would work nicely. Looking forward to seeing what you select. Kids looked like they had a fun time in the water too.
Wow it is so exciting to watch your beautiful home being built. You both are very talented and knowledgeable. I can hardly wait to see the finished product. I’m sure it will be absolutely amazing 😍
I've never heard of this product before, and will be sharing the info with my husband, as we're planning on building our next home. Thank you so much! Lovely video, as always.
Thank you, it's pretty awesome
@@GoodSimpleLiving What is the pricing like ?? How does it compare to timber, logs, other cladding ??? Is it installed by yourselves ??
I love the fact that you always include the kids in your life events. Making memories are what life is about, opportunities sometimes only happen once and if we forget to take them they are lost forever. As a dad I missed many opportunities in doing things with my kids to earn money so I could afford to do things with them but I enjoyed the time we did spend doing the things we did together. Most importantly is just being there for your children because when they are no longer kids that time is gone forever and all you have is the memories... Making memories that last a life time is huge!!!
Greetings from Brazil. Wonderful moments, neither the children nor you will ever forget these moments of pure family happiness.
Just loved seeing you6 having a good time at the hotel water park - that was an excellent down time- love the siding - what they come up these days to make our places safe and nice looking - have a great week - what ever you pick will be the best - I have faith in your judgment!!!!! Love ya all more !!!
Thank you Lorina, you're so sweet
@@GoodSimpleLiving No you guys are so wonderful- you know how to balance your lives - I really have hope for some of this generation because of you !!
The grey reminds me of weathered redwood homes on the California coast which is a great look, remember that you have natural timbers on the front of your home and they will weather in a few years.
Just beautiful. The landscapes, the new material you've located for siding and most beautiful - playing at the pool.
The dark weathered gray with your black trim windows and roof looks very rich together. The example home was so unique with the batten boards in the gables is a great contrast too. Smart choice of fire proof material that looks so very real and so very safe. Thanks for sharing your family fun too. Glad you got away even though it was for a short time but time well spent all together.
The darker one is my choice. It will surely look great with the roof and windows. I would also have air conditioning for the 100 degree weather.
The grey or the natural wood colour would look great, I personally don’t like the golden wood colour it reminds me of cheep pine furniture. 😬🇬🇧
I'm in north Carolina the gray color reminds me of houses at the outer banks. I'm also just starting to build a home, going to look into this siding such a good product. I think the dark brown would go good with your home it kinda matches your area.
What a great idea. With the ever changing weather this product will serve you well in more ways than one. There is no such product here in Australia, this would be fantastic for our extreme weather and ever constant fire seasons that are becoming longer and hotter and more destructive.
Well done on your forward thinking.
So nice to see your family enjoying the water slides !. So nice to see your family enjoying the water slides !.
I think the darker of the two browns. It looks like the lighter brown still needs stain, plus the darker brown might look better against plants or you could go Almond color. My suggestion is to look at a lot of pictures on" Pinterest " not only at house colors but what plants look best with it. I'm sure whatever you choose will be perfect for you!!
Omg. I nearly wet myself at Melissa and the verb lol 😂, so entertaining Melissa 😍😘
I agree. I have seen a lot of in-video sponsor plugs that always seemed so canned. Melissa, you always do such a great job of not only representing your sponsors, but make them entertaining. I usually skip past sponsor plug, but yours I always watch.
The Verb advertizement was unexpected and hilarious!!!
I love the golden colour as it contrasts so well with your black window trim, but looks really warm & welcoming under the shadow of your overhanging eaves.
Thank you to you 2 for finding this company. We will be doing the same now and really looking into these products. Thanks for taking us on the ride!
The wait for this vid felt like an eternity 😂 you guys spoiled us with the last couple uploads being fast!
The weathered gray and black windows will look so good.
Great video. I had never heard of such a product. I’m sure it will give you great peace of mind knowing your home will be safe in the event of nearby fires.
The honey-colored flat logs and best with the board and batten sides with a color that complements the roof, not too dark, what a find your material choice is great, good job so far don't mess it up. We are rooting for you, PTL.
I love the lighter golden color! I think it'll be gorgeous with the black roof and windows. I'd even make the house corners black but that's only my opinion. Y'all do what you love and either way, it'll be gorgeous 😍, it's turning out so nice! Giant hugs to you and yours! The ad and seeing y'all have fun was a joy!
Watching y'all on this journey has been wonderful and so informative! What a wonderful product! The grey would look nice but the lighter wood color would definitely be a natural beautiful contrasting to the black roof and windows! Your decision is what works for your family🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏 God's Blessings!
The reason for the trip was siding but the smiles on the kids faces when playing in the water with their father well worth it 😀😀😀
The golden colored siding will look best in your wide open space. Keep up the fine work you are both learning your capabilities, things that will stay with you forever GOD BLESS
Yep, I'd go with that...Lol. Personally, in a frame house situation, I would've looked for concrete enhanced products anyways. They're more maintenance free, longer lasting, and pest/ fire resistant. Hardi board/ plank products are very popular here in Florida. I like the wood tones mixed with the grays. Horizontal bottom, vertical top. 🙂👍
What a great siding option. While the gray is quite nice, I think the "fresh" lighter, natural color would be a wonderful contrast with the windows and roof. Thank you for sharing your family time at the water slides - Those sweet smiles were contagious!
Loving this journey, can’t wait to see the siding completed…thank you ❤️
It was so good to watch one of your videos. Life is challenging me right now but you always keep me grounded. God bless.
I like the darker wood option best but would like even more a western red cedar option.
Thank you for sharing this product. It makes our remodel list. I love the fire retardent quality!!
There is a great Osprey Nest in Missoula. Has a cam on it. The female is Iris! Over by the nursing home and the college!
I’m so looking forward to the new siding especially since I can’t decide which looks best. Whatever you choose will turn out nice and I really like knowing there is such a siding.
The old gray weathered barn wood is nice and natural but the light brown looks good too. I personally would like to blend with the environment for a little stealthy advantage. You guys are doing an awesome job.
I am glad that you and the kids had a chance to get out sight seeing and some fun. That siding looks so nice. I totally agree that this is a better and a more affordable option than real logs. It looks like it is something that you can do yourself. Wow, if you can get the house weather tight before winter; that would be so great. When I was young, my parents had a new house built. It was all finished except for the second floor. We lived in that while my dad finished the bedrooms. I am so excited for you. 😀😀😀😀😀😀😎😎😎😎😎😎😍😍😍😍😍😍
Same with us. But we had to help our mom mainly, finish the upstairs if we wanted rooms. We learned how to drywall early in life. Lol
The grey will look great. I think that siding is the best choice for your home in that area, or for any area. Have a feeling the no left turns help prevent wrecks.
I believe in you guys. You're honest in your goals and pursuits.
Weathered Grey with the black would look GREAT!
I love the gray in any home, walls ,couch’s,etc…
I love the grey siding! What an awesome product!
I like seeing the ever logs, it was also cool seeing everyone have a fun time at the pool, I think you all needed to get a way from building the house.
I realized today that every time I watch y’all’s videos I find myself smiling. Dark one for sure for siding and what a cool concept. Never heard of them. Loved the shirt in the beginning, such a great worship song.. God Bless y’all.
