    Thank You for you informative video.
    I have few querries.
    1. What are the chances for IMG being Cardiac Surgeon? If you happen to know any requirement please share.
    2. Is it alright to give MRCS after passing MBBS/ PMQ only? I know we can appear the test but what is you thought abt this?
    3. If you do have any social media please share so that we IMGs can be guided.
    Thank you in advance.😁👍🙏

      Hi, thanks for the questions!
      1. You would just need to follow the application requirements for cardiothoracic surgery specialty training, which is run by Wessex deanery wessex.hee.nhs.uk/medical-dental-training-recruitment/core-and-specialty/cardiothoracic-surgery-st1-st3-national-recruitment/
      2. You can sit the MRCS part A after receiving MBBS and then the MRCS Part B after passing part A.
      3. Currently this is my only social media, but I may set up some in the near future. Best of luck!

    Hello Dr,
    Thank You for your helpful video, it has made a lot of clarity in my prep process.
    My question is:
    "The Book Basic Science for MRCS is mainly focused on Paper 1 of the Exam, Any textbook recommendations for Paper 2/Applied Surgery?"

    • @Mr.Radiologist
      @Mr.Radiologist  2 роки тому

      I don't think I had any to recommend for that part, I just learned things from the question banks.

      I mainly used the question banks for that part - i don't think i used a textbook.

    Thank you for your details video! I would like to ask my F1 first rotation is pediatrics without night shift, and second rotation is geriatrics with night shift. Will it be too early if I plan to take the MRCS in January 2023?

    • @Mr.Radiologist
      @Mr.Radiologist  2 роки тому +1

      Hi! You certainly have enough time between now and January 2023 to prepare for the MRCS part A. I would leave about 4 months for revision if you can. Good luck!

    Hello
    I want to apply for the April exam but the Royal collage postponed January exam and the April one is now TBC on the site, do I start preparing now before even booking the exam ? If I wait I won't have enough time

    • @Mr.Radiologist
      @Mr.Radiologist  3 роки тому +2

      Hi,
      Yes, it was a shame to hear about the exam being postponed - I would still recommend that you prepare for the april exam and check the booking website regularly to try to book it. Even if you can't get a space, then at least you will have started preparing already.
      Just make sure to work on the other parts of the application as well and then, once the exam is nearer, focus only on the exam. Good luck!

      Hi,
      I am not an expert, but most non-training jobs are advertised on nhsjobs (www.jobs.nhs.uk), including standalone foundation posts, so I recommend looking there - you can search by specialty and location.
      If you are already an FY1 doctor on the foundation programme, then you need to look at either swapping with someone or some hospitals offer some standalone FY2 jobs.
      Hope that helps!

    Hi.. just wanted to know if I was sitting for mrcs ent is it the same as mrcs surgery?

    • @Mr.Radiologist
      @Mr.Radiologist  3 роки тому +1

      Hi, thanks for the question. Essentially:
      MRCS is MRCS part A and MRCS part B
      MRCS(ENT) is MRCS part A and the DOHNS OSCE (or part 2)
      To do ENT from ST3 and above, you need to do either MRCS(ENT) or you can do full MRCS (part A and B) as well as DOHNS (part 1 and 2). The latter involves doing 4 exams so if you definitely want to do ENT, you may consider doing MRCS (ENT) alone as you only need to do 2 exams.
      N.B. To apply for other surgical specialties, you need MRCS NOT MRCS(ENT)
