One tip I had to learn the hard way, is focusing to much on the perfect picture and spending hours trying to achieve the perfect editing, masks etc. in one specific photo. Most of the time my pictures get better when I don’t slide down the rabbit hole of perfection.

Someone once told me in order to get better shoot more. It was my High School Basketball Coach. As I’ve grown older I find that advice holds true to so many things including photography. So I have two cameras. An everyday carry and a client camera. One is inexpensive and I use less expensive lenses. So I’m not afraid of it being banged up. I definitely shoot more now and, hopefully, I’m getting better every year.
    Thanks for sharing.

I love this! I found you on tiktok first and you have been such a great help. Something I am doing this year is learning my canon rebel t6, different terminology, lenses, and getting out and practicing. I found this thing called the 365 photo challenge where each day of the month is a different photo topic (i.e., day 5 of January is fire) and I take a photo of that topic for the day. Im also learning so basics of photo editing and finding my style. I haven't been this hyperfocused on something in a long time and it feels good to have something stimulating my creative side. One thing I did notice is this hobby can get crazy expensive haha.

Something I found out after starting a photography business, was sometimes it’s best to keep your “hobby/passion” just that.
Turning photography into a business absolutely destroyed my love for it. Taking photos and editing is a very small part of owning and operating a small business. I’d suggest taking some business and marketing courses or internships that allow you access to the behind the scenes work.

Definitely learning the mechanics of the exposure triangle. A lot of ppl think they can skip the explanations and just do what they see in the TikToks, but knowing what’s going on in your camera helps so much with getting good quality shots and feeling more natural

@@masondavid8398 but it's true, i have a sony G lens on my ZV-E10 and a can do deep sky stuff, because the lens is more important then your body, you can use a body from 2017 with a very good lens, this will out perform a new body with the Kit lens, it matters onlly in video if you need 4k60 or 6k 3:2.
my plan is to buy two lenses and a telecope this 3 things cost about 4,5k on a body that i paid for 550€ in a starter kit

One thing that is important. Dont marry just one «style». Photographers allways say that you must fint your own style. But learn a bunch of styles and methods! Go crazy and explore. Only then can you find your «style». But if you master a lot of styles you can do lot of diferent jobs.

If you have the money, buy a camera lens or just test one out that is third party like I did with reliable results and good build quality, if not learn how to use the phone and edit. One thing that has helped me more than anything was focusing one type of photography, settings for this type, editing style, which was landscape photography, I was invited hot desert springs and managed to capture the desert during golden hour and stayed until the stars came out to capture them. Even though I didnt bring my camera (as photography wasnt my intention) I remembered what I learned and applied it on a smartphone. I believe skills that are transferable are the key to becoming proficient then master then repeat with the next style of photography that interest you, I am leaning towards nighttime photography now because how much emotion you can get with low light and city shots.

I hear a lot in YT invest in lens. I think is great idea, but how do you invest in lens if you don’t know what camera is good to start and maybe the only one. For example, year ago (89-90) I buy a Minolta X-370, don’t use a lot for some issues in life. Now I am interesting in a Full Frame, a lot to choose, but I still learn the different aspects of the cameras and the pros vs cons. Be in this process for two months, still no decision yet. 😂😂😂

Starting off focusing on the lenses over the camera makes a lot of sense, but question for you. Would you still start off with mirrorless lenses even though mirrorless cameras are more expensive? You wouldn’t want to buy APS-C lenses since they wouldn’t work in the future if you eventually upgrade to full frame. Thank you!

    • @hanabi.1
      @hanabi.1 6 місяців тому

just my opinion; if you started with APS-C mirrorless and still not sure if you will go full frame later on, it's cheaper to buy adapter + used APS-C lenses. when you finally upgrade to full frame, sell the APS-C lenses if you dont plan to use APS-C anymore, there will always be someone who will buy it. i bought used lens the old tamron 17-50 f2.8 non-vc + adapter works well on canon r100 and also using it on 7D, although im not planning to upgrade to full frame as full frame lenses are to expensive for me who just do casual shooting and few weddings per year

The sigma 16mm f1.4 is pretty good. It's what most people use for streams and whatnot. I shoot canon but if there is an E mount equivalent to the 17-55 f2.8, that's also quite good, or you can adapt that lens with an EF-E adapter. If you want a bit wider than that, maybe try an ultra wide angle lens like a 10-18mm. Won't be as fast, but won't feel as tight with the crop from your camera.

I believe there are some apps or just a simple Google search could help you with that. Look for "geo tags" many outdoor/landscape photographers mark the coordinates of the specific spot they took their pictures. Keep in mind that seasons and weather may affect how the location looks.

I teach photography in my community
    I see it very differently
Just take photos ...just get a feel for what you see ...self taught to a point then look at expansion
Too much too quick can be overwhelming
    Start.small
..fujj or small crop sensor camera and go crazy
Don't think just shoot and shoot until you yes YOU like.the look.of it
Then slowly look at other people's work and refine again
    Shoot in auto ...it's ok
Progess to aperture mode ....one step at a time

We need to talk!!! I have stoped your video at 3;40 the time you’ve start talking for brands . 1st of all my language is Greek so please excuse my English. Now I’m 1 year in to photography with a camera . When want to purchase a camera I ask the seller from the electronic store which one should I buy I heard him and I purchased a canon 250d , an aps-c 1.6x 24mp . These are 3 key factor for photography . What apps-c means what 1.6x crop factor means what 24 mp sensor means ???? If you want to give to a new photographer some tips please 🙏 pretty please!!!! Let them know what photography means from te very basics such as photography is the capture of light …. What does the crop factor means for that what the mp of a sensor means and then keep it basic as basic as you can , if I choose as a new photographer to with the r series of canon or the z series of Nikon what does it means ???? How much I have to pay for glass to take just one lens???? That’s the wrong that you pro photographers do when you are trying to help new photographers. It may took 1hour a video like that on UA-cam and 10 hours of making it but if you want to help us please do it properly, think your wonders when you start this beautiful trip of photography and help us to save some money.. sorry for this long post and I hope you can understand what I’m saying.

Ok, you asked for our opinion about your audio with the rode on your cap. I think it sounds too bold and too much in my ear. It seems a little too bold and seems to overpower a detailed and clear audio, to the point of being loud and muffled. It’s just my opinion but it’s honest. Nice video overall. Even when you’re holding the rode and talking into it I don’t really like the sound quality.
