What are your Euro 2024 tournament predictions?
Why is the US National team wearing a flag on their jersey other than the American flag? This team needs to represent all of America. They need to stop playing politics and just play soccer. I want to love this team.
They represent less than 1% of America
That’s the least of their problems.
Alexie, you speak of a "German culture" of confidence, above & beyond soccer. Well, the U.S. has the exact same confidence, bordering on arrogance in international basketball, when all of their stars show up & Canada has that same confidence in international hockey.
Even more than Germany in soccer, the U.S. & Canada expect to win gold every time they play in these international tournaments & if they don't win gold, it is a major disappointment.
So it's not culturally based; but rather, it is because of a long history of success.

And that German confidence is only present when we have been playing well enough for a while. When we reached the WC final in 2002 and lost against Brazil the streets where full of fans celebrating this amazing achievement. We knew we weren't a good enough team to win a WC and we were lucky to reach the final. We weren't confident and we had a better team than the US has today.
What the US needs is a bit of realism. If they don't start looking at their player material more realistically how will they be able to find the right approach to utilize them?
I have heard pundits talking about how they need to play more beautifully, more attractive etc.... With which players? Who are these technically gifted, creative players who can execute these tactics? Or at least a block of players who play together in the same club so they can bring that cohesion into the national team? Even big teams struggle to get that done in time and they usually can rely on blocks of players or players who are so insanely good that they can somehow make it work.
It's not just a matter of the right manager, you have to work with what you have...
What has worked for underdogs in the past is focusing on a destructive approach to make it ugly and annoying for a big team to play against you, focusing on physicality and mindset and team spirit, focusing on the defense first and on very few specific attacking plays like set pieces, focusing on a few key pillars which they can make work for what they have instead of trying to imitate a team full of superstars.
I encourage everyone to watch the last Milan vs Juventus game where Weah played right back and shut down Leao COMPLETELY. Leao is one of the top left wingers in Serie A.

Ukraine qualified in a difficult group (through playoff) and didn’t have any home games. Sure, it’s possible they finish last in the group, but I certainly don’t think it’s likely.
Alexi I just can’t take your lineups serious. Take Gio out? No Richard’s because he hasn’t convinced you but you put in CCV (from a usmnt perspective Richard’s has played more)? Gio as a winger? You do this to get people riled up don’t you?

so annoyed that whenever there is a conversation of which wingers to play, pulisic is never a consideration for the bench even though he's basically a ghost for USA in big games.

It is ridiculous how Lalas keeps talking about “all they need is that signature win” or “they need to do well against the elites of football” yet everytime they face a team the likes of Colombia or the Netherlands they lose making it clear time and time again they cannot compete with the elites. If today colombia put 5 pass you, what will the #1 in conmebol “Uruguay” do come the tournament? Or Brasil? Ecuador?. Theyve tried so hard to sell the idea that the USA is now in the edge of becoming an “elite” and tbh your best wins are against Mexico and whatever other concacaf minnows.

First off my hats off to David Mosse, the man is a oracle of Futbol knowledge. His takes and opinions are objectively accurate. Second as a Colombian fan I respect this version of the CONCACAF giants. I see that a back three has been stated to be played and I hope for your sake they don’t because Luchito Diaz is salivating to test it. I would have liked for Dest to have been there to test the Colombian defense. Colombia will look to break the defensive posture of US by allowing the US to come foward and attack on the counter with fast transitions to the left and right (lucho and arias), Borre the #9 solely used for hard pressure. Why do I keep hearing these commentators say "like for like" when suggesting to replace Dest with Scally ? Scally's profile is NOTHING LIKE Sergino Dest's. "Like for like" would be Weah for Dest, no? So why isn't that clearly the best option? I'm actually OK putting Scally at RB, but let's admit that this represents a completely different strategy- replacing a dangerous, attacking wing back with a safer more defensive minded RB (who's gonna get torched by Luis Diaz anyway, lol)

There is no version of the USMNT that can accomplish anything of note in Copa or the WC that doesn't have Reyna in the starting 11. C'mon now. The BEST player for the USA over the last calendar year+ in a national team shirt. If your goal is to not score goals and win in PKs, then MMA is your go to, I guess.
I totally agree, but you have to acknowledge the issue of his lack of game fitness. Hopefully he makes up for his lack of PT with the massive chip on his shoulder. Also, a couple of run-up friendlies is the obvious chance to start giving him as much time as possible!

After finishing part 1 I thought "they must have left all the major plot points for part 2" but after finishing part 2, where was the plot? It looked good visually, but the story could use some work beyond the blatant religious symbolism imo.

I guest you haven't seen the brackets, group C and group D are on the same side, so of course the USA might meet either Brazil or Colombia in the knockout rounds, do your homework before posting next time!

Colombia game is pretty meaningless. For the US, I'd just like to see us keep good possession and have mass subs at halftime. Winning this game is a nothing burger. You want to use these 2 games to just get your fitness up and have solid possession and defense. No use to show yourself before the Tournament starts.
