W.H.E.A.T. - Bruno Aveillan (2008)

"In 2008, in discovering the front page of the newspaper "Libération" that was devoted to the terrible riots in Haiti in the context of the alimentary crisis that was rampant in the world, I was literally in shock by these images of another era, resulting from speculation on wheat and the shortage that ensued. Some weeks later, during a location scouting in Mexico, chance would have it that I would shoot near an immense wheat field. The idea came to mind, that I would direct a short film that would by poetic means, magnify the fact we all have a tendency to consider as banally obvious, a right inalienable : Wheat... The nourshing symbol of humanity.
