- The Rock-international superstar, national treasure, and proprietor of the world’s most emotive face-is back in WWE. But instead of celebrating the return of one of the sport’s most infamous legends, fans are livid. Like, they’re literally booing him out of arenas.
This is an unexpected development because ostensibly, there is no place on earth where the Rock should be more welcome than within the confines of a professional wrestling ring, where he first cultivated his one-of-a-kind charisma, way back in the prehistory of America.

@@micohdumayag4825 what a silly comment by a silly person. Daniel Bryan is far from irrelevant. One of the most influential wrestlers today with historic matches. And viewership? Low? A quick google search shows just a few weeks ago RAW drew the highest average viewership since June 2023 with Key Demos up. RR broke viewership records. This past SD saw a spike in viewership and this recent press conference broke records too. Try again.
Of course Social Media is hating on the Rock. Most people on social media just hate for no reason. Heck I saw someone hate on Rock with something that has nothing to do with wrestling and saying the fans were chanting some sort of Hawaii controversy that Rock has since apologized for announcing the thing at the wrong time and saying the fans were chanting Maui not Cody all cause Rock has played a character named Maui

That controversy of Dwayne that you speak of had to do with the Maui Wildfires is when he was associating himself with Oprah at the time and asking ordinary people like us to help donate to the families and victims when he and Oprah combined have a lot of money themselves to be able to donate, have their Hollywood elite friends help, and the politicians who have all the wealth in the world to donate to the Maui families that suffered after the wildfires instead of forcing people like us to 'help donate' when we ordinary folks are going through everyday struggles of trying to put food on the table and supporting our own families as well.
My thoughts exactly. I am over it as well. I just want to enjoy the product. I feel that no matter what WWE does at this point. There will always be some fans who are upset.

I'd prefer rock vs roman next year cause then we can have a proper build up and rock can get really ring ready to have a great wrestlemania moment cause I'm concerned if he wrestles now the fans will say it's rocks worst match and we don't want to see a bad match

This storyline could be fixed and made one of the best conclusions in the last 2 decades with just a few vital moves.
1. The Rock causes chaos on the upcoming weekly shows and demands that Triple H address him in the ring to fix the mess he made then Tiple H comes out and announces that the Rock will have an opportunity to be at Wrestlemania with Roman, only as a special guest referee in the Cody vs Roman's match, thus pissing the Rock off but giving him a spot to be in the mix at least.
2. The Rock ends up as the special guest referee and stirs the pot between Roman and Cody leading up to Mania so that they don't know whose side he's gonna be on at Mania as he threatens to officiate the match and gives us all the winner that HE wants since he's the one with all the power as the referee.
3. On the night of Wrestlemania The Rock makes it look like he's being fair but then gives a fast count or ignores a rope break or something 15 or 20 or so minutes into the hard fought match to screw Roman so that Cody wins, but Cody acts surprised and reluctantly shakes Rock's hand afterward and celebrates his title win.
4. The Rock and Roman have a stare down in the ring as Roman is in complete shock and as the Rock smirks and is leaving the ring, Roman gets the mic and challenges the Rock to a match immediately and the Rock agrees under the condition that it's a no disqualification match so that he has no way of using rules to squirm his way out of an ass whooping. (It would probably be best for Roman to win in this scenario with some help in order to set up for a rematch without Cody involved maybe at Summerslam.)
5. During Cody's first promo as champ he admits that he had initially said that he wasn't gonna challenge Roman at Mania because he wanted to get in his head and surprise the fans with him and the Rock being in kahoots the whole time with the united goal of removing Roman as the tribal chief and helping Cody get the moment that he rightly deserved. So they both got something out of the deal and gave 'the people their dream back' PLUS we got to see both opponents that we wanted to Roman face get a piece all in 1 night! (If this turns Cody heel, so be it because it will help his reign, or people may actually simultaneously rejoice that Roman is finally no longer champ and that he got payback for the people he and The Bloodline screwed during his lengthy reign.
7. Then Roman can go on a rage against Triple H, The Rock, Cody, and the fans for being in 'Conspiracy' against him out of jealousy and then say he's gonna 'punish' us all by taking some time off until we miss what was good for us.
8. Later he'll come back for revenge leading up to the Rock returning for a rematch which ideally The Rock will win and maybe it will even be his retirement match so he goes out big as a face with the fans cheering him rather than as a heel.
Rock Vs. Roman for the title of Tribal Chief should be a monumental moment at this year's WrestleMania; but, it's being overshadowed by people who want Cody to finish the story (not to mention I think a lot of fans want that belt to come off of Roman at this point). However, I can't help but think that none of this backlash would be happening, if they would've had Cody take the title off of Reigns at WrestleMania 39.
I agree. If you notice they are actually piping in cheers when HHH announced Cody is the main event. WWE also cut out the boos from it.
Nope. You are absolutely correct in my opinion. I didn’t even want Cody in the main event last year. That said, they should’ve just went ahead and did it last year. We wouldn’t be having this problem right now.

Sorry to the Cody fanboys but Rock vs Roman is the better match simply because the bloodline supremacy is a better story than Cody Rhodes story. Because both Roman and Rocky are bigger stars than Dusty Rhodes and Cody. If there was somebdy in the Rhodes family who deserve to finish the story, that would be Dustin not Cody since Goldust was more over than Cody could ever think to be

My confusion tbh is- many people have criticized and continued to criticize WWEs usage of stars from yester-year. The criticism of not building new stars, relying on past stars I.e Brock Lesnar, Edge, Stone Cold etc… The Rock is no different. So how can we criticize them for not creating new stars and new memories while also praising them for this one person who last we saw wrestle looked like s#it? The fans are invested in the story. Not a “moment” that could happen ANYTIME else.

The Rock vs Roman at Elimination Chamber would’ve been amazing because it would’ve gave EC one of the biggest matches in its history. But I do feel like people like Alyx are glossing over the selfishness that is someone gaining real life power in the company and force themselves into a main event
@@Ennegro yeah I think it's that but also they are stuck on nostalgia. WWE fans compared to fans of other promotions have a really bad nostalgia problem. They love seeing these old legends in the spotlight so much but then they wonder why WWE for the longest times wasn't making any new stars or trying to build up anyone else

As someone that WANTED to see Rock V Roman AND Cody V Roman with all 3 being some of my favorites of all time ever! (Been watching Wrestling for over 20 years) The hate that Rock got over the past week and a half now is honestly ridiculous. Sure the segment probably could've been handled better but the hate from the IWC is honestly disgusting. It was absolutely unnecessary and very disrespectful. I'm still hoping we're getting Roman V Rock knowing the opportunity we have right now it's the literally the best time to do it! Whatever happens I hope everyone gets what they want but the hate towards Dwayne and WWE was absolutely unnecessary, disgusting and disrespectful

I’m convinced that WWE is afraid that if they don’t put over Cody Rhodes at mania that the fans will riot. I think wrestling fans need to realize that sometimes you just need to sit back and watch the story unfold why does everything have to happen NOW? They were outraged last year even though it wouldn’t have been as satisfying if Cody beat Roman last year. Rock vs Roman reigns would’ve been interesting to see too bad it’s not happening

This was not a work Rock vs Roman was going to happen they have been begging him to come back for the past 4 years the plan only changed after the backlash and now they are turning him heel to play into that and you can say well they fixed it so we should stop being mad but the bottom line is this was going to happen and had fans just excepted it when it happened Cody would not be getting this match and he would’ve been screwed and Rock played a part in that and pushed his weight around now that he’s part of the board

No offense, but that’s the price you pay for not reading the room. We all tried to tell you, and you didn’t wanna listen because you were more focused on how much money WWE can make, and your own personal enjoyment.
When wrestlemania 34 was coming around, I did not care for Seth Rollins or Braun Stroman yet I was advocating that either of them could’ve been the one to beat Lesner for the universal title and instead they went with Roman reigns, and we had beach balls thrown around in the main event.

That's the problem though. Youre saying that the Rock fans should get what they want too. Well that's the thing, you guys can still get what you want. The Rock can still face Roman but it just dont need to happen at WrestleMania. Sorry but a double main event just doesnt sell for me. That means The Rock beats Roman before Cody can even get his hands on him which cheapens Cody's moment a bit. Why do we need to see this match now so bad that it cant wait? It almost comes across as what the Rock said during his interview with Pat MacAfee. Just telling people to shut up and enjoy the ride. We were made to feel like Cody's moment was being stolen from him. For all the praise people give the Attitude Era they miss the point what actually made it special. The Rock would never get the spotlight taken from him. Neither would Stone Cold. Now they are trying to keep the Rock in the story with him getting mad at Cody. Take away all the sexy women taking their clothes off and the men getting in brutal brawls and all of the edgy promo's in the Attitude Era and what you have left is just young stars getting made and being made to look like future stars. We've been told that the future is here and then in comes Brock Lesnar. Then Goldberg. Then Stone Cold gets one more match and wins. Then The Rock returns for the 5th time. It just undermines the current roster when all of the guys that had their moments come back for one more run.
tbf, its not like most of the wwe roster is filled with young stars just waiting to break out, KO is almost 40 and has been around for a quarter of a century almost, 8 or so of those years in wwe. KOs run so far has been longer than stone colds entire career almost

Roman has been calling himself the tribal chief and claiming he's the head of the family while mistreating half of the family for 4 years. And The rock claiming to be the high chief comes to put a stop to it.
