Our bulls were really chill. I understand its breed-dependent, obviously, but our black angus bull was so sweet. You could walk up and give him a scratch, feed him an apple.
@damiannichols1250 the equipment had to be purchased to put the cows in the chute, semen purchased, medical supplies, a vet tech and still cows not pregnant. This cannot be profitable and the bull can become hamburger after a few years...
Tell me your a city kid without saying it.... For us it was at 150 heads finally cheaper to get a bull. That's included labour. You need to upgrade a lot of fences, pens etc etc and if you have employees the insurance more then doubled because we got a bull.
In England, pedestrians are legally allowed to wander across farmland without restriction. If you have a bull in a pasture and it gets a hiker, the farmer is the one who's at fault, not the idiot walking in the field.
Are you allowed to just wander in any field? And are you allowed to do so with a dog too? Walking with a dog in a field full of cows isn't the smartest thing to do even if there isn't a bull imo. @@LonesomeDove-dn8dk
Weird how arbitrary human ethics are. If a cow has a name then we feel wrong eating it. But Clarkson does eat other heifers, who probably deserved a name as much as Pepper.
Bioethics major here, let me explain; Name implies ownage/documented bond. Noone "deserves" anything anywhere, we are all animals doing what animals do, just that we as humans have won the evolution, so we get a hand above all else, we get to Choose. Nature is cruel and unforgiving everywhere, not **just** when humans do cruel things. Cherish the fact that its WE Homo Sapiens who gets to choose and not them.
@bronzejourney5784 I'd argue it's not evil when animals do it because we are not sure they understand the implications of making the prey suffer? (As an example I have an 15 months old, I'm not sure he understands why he shouldn't hit me. The few times he did it, I made a sharp ouch which made it unpleasant for him, which is why he stopped? Not sure he understood that he inflicted pain. Same for animals?). Also oftentimes, they don't have much of a choice in their diet, compared to humans who can chose to eat cow or not (and in this case, specifically a nameless cow rather than a named cow).
@@KwiziiIn most cases it's not evil when animals do 'cruel' stuff to other animals simply because they don't have that level of comprehension or understanding. Food is food, it doesn't matter if it's wriggling around while being eaten so long as it's not getting away or putting up a fight. Preventing escape or injury is the sole reason why some predators dispatch their prey but they're just as happy to tuck in right away if the situation permits. Some animals do knowingly commit evil acts though. Chimpanzee's for example have been documented torturing rival chips and even playing mind games against rival troops. There was one troop at war with another that managed to trap some females and babies up in trees. They'd managed to take out one of the rival chimps so started eating it in full view of the trapped females and they even made the effort of maintaining eye contact with the females while they did so. It was all about sending a message to them. End of the day though the animal kingdom isn't judged by the same laws and morals that we set ourselves so it's very difficult and unfair to apply those same morals and beliefs to animals who simply can't comprehend right and wrong. It's kind of the same with your 15mo too, I have a 4 year old son so have been through all the stuff you're going through. At 15 months they're still a toddler just starting to develop a personality, independence and understanding of the wider world. It's still difficult and frustrating for them though and an straightforward reaction to frustration is to just lash out and hit the one causing that frustration (the parent lol). They're still not fully able to regulate their emotions but they do love learning about emotions and the proper responses and can relate to their parents emotions. I'm sure you've fake cried around your kid and they've come over to cuddle you because they recognise sadness and want to show affection in the same way you do to them when they're sad lol. Bit of a tangent now but kids emotional states are like months long rollercoasters. Everytime you think they've got the hang of it they change it up and go in a different direction. My son is proper defiant ATM and just arguing over everything, I understand that it's normal as he's starting to become more independent and settling in on his likes and dislikes but it doesn't make it any less frustrating for me lol!
@@Kwizii Reason of death or pain is of no matter to the dead or the victim, it doesnt change their state. That approach is merely to the conscience and ego of the inflicter. About %94 of the animals who are considered "conventional farm animals" are bred for the sole purpose of eventually being a product for humans. They know nothing of their own mortality, death by your hand or of old age is of no significance to them, they still feel pain, they dont know that "their life was cut short" like you and me. A cruel _culling_ to be sure, but for a life that wouldnt be if it wasnt for you and me. From their perspective, they still get to be born and eat grass, happy cows. From our perspective they fulfill their purpose and we get to eat, happy humans.
I fuggin love Caleb's reaction. Spot on.😂
I love how cows always look like "wtf is going on"
I’m not eating Pepper! lol bless him.

The bull should have been the first option. Add up all the expenses so far with no results.
It makes sense though the bulls are a constant cost compares to the one time payment

Dangerous too

Should've named 1 brisket and the other hamburger!! My wife's uncle rIsed 2 pigs named breakfast and dinner. 😅
I think she's gonna be up the duff lol
Just rent a bull for six weeks.
When your next steak is called Pepper. 😂
The confusion at the question of if a farm can keep a bull! Where else do they go, the zoo?

That's weird. Of course it's the fault of the people crossing a fence... but that's the British.

@@LonesomeDove-dn8dk Wrong - you can't just wander where ever you like. You have to keep to public footpaths/rights of way.
Caleb buzzing at the end 😆😆😆😆
Get a bull. Healthier for all.
They did. Even filmed the intercourse 😅 . Didn't work out for pepper
They are just like people. You can keep trying for ages and be know result. Bought in for Breeding or not. It's like your pal says welcome to farming.
Kaleb comment 😂😂😂😂
Well... I mean...
There is a thing called peppersteak soooooooooo...
