Thanks for watching. Yeah I do think it's better to buy full frame lenses to future proof and not have to spend more when you upgrade. Hope this helped you make a purchase decision!
I have a lens that ends at 70mm. Am I better off with Sony 70-300 so there is no gap, or Sigma 100-400 given the extended range? Is there much lost in 70-100 range?
Thanks for the video! Is the autofocus much better with the firmware update for the sigma 100-400? The poor autofocus performance scares me a bit and keeps me from buying this lens right now (the sony version is not in my budget)
Yes! It’s much better. It doesn’t have that severely out of focus issue anymore. It was previously due to some stabilization issue caused by the lens but it seems like the firmware fixed it. I personally lean towards the sigma lens 😁
@@BernardLau1991 do they do it for free? So with the dock available. I'm not be able to do it.? I'm planning to get one. But when I saw your first video and said the auto focus is not good I changed my mind. But seeing this wants me to get this again for landscape.
You're a good reviewer mate :) One small advice: remove your hat next time and put some more light on the face, makes it feel more approachable :) Kwep up the good work though! 🙂
Thanks for this video, was exactly the comparison I was looking for. I have the Sony 70-300 on apsc and was considering getting the Sigma for the extra 100mm reach for bird photography. My only complaint would be the Sigma color and contrast not as nice as the Sony, but overall I think the sharpness is equal or better especially wide open, Sony is too soft wide open.
What do you think for apsc (sony a6xxx) , sony 70-350 or this sigma 100-400? I know that sigma is almost twice as heavy but yet again if I ever go to fullframe I could keep it... I can't decide
Great review, you’ve put in a lot of thought and effort in the comparison. May I ask if you had a chance to check the respective performance for portraits? The less minimum focusing distance on Sony should make it better for casual, quick point & shoot portraits right?
Hey! Thanks for the support and appreciating the efforts. Lots of time goes into making this videos haha. Anyways, to answer your question, this lens is not the best for portraits. You will probably be better off with others. But then again, both lenses can take portraits decently. I won't say I will pick one over the other just for this reason. I think it is better if you consider the other factors. Hope this helps!

This is a very good and accurate test video.
Other UA-camrs only try to look cool, they are terrible.
Your video helped me a lot.
Thank you for your kind words. I hope it help you make a good purchase 😁
Nice presentation. Using a a6400 APS-C now but like the option to move to full frame layer. Hence, these two lenses are my candidates.

Just the video I was looking for. Answered all my questions. Thank you.
hey! I'm glad you found this video useful. Hope you will enjoy whichever lens you end up buying!
What do you choose ?
Ok ok, after a long time, a guy is actually funny and knowledgeable at the same time.. 😂
😀
Excellent review, I just picked up a 70-300 for my A7C and love it. I mainly shoot video
Thanks for the support 😁
super useful!!! seems the firmware update did work well.
I’m glad to hear that! This lens has been sitting in my dry box for awhile now. Have not had time to throughly test it out since I updated haha
What about in comparison to the Tamron 70-300?
Unfortunately I don’t have the resources to test that 😅
Excellent review, thank you very much!
Thanks for the support. Glad it was helpful! :)

I personally would go for the 100-400 if you already have something that ends with 70. Unless you have like a 16-35 then maybe consider the 70-300.
What about the image stabilization? which one its better?
oops i didn't test that
Thanks for the video!

@@BernardLau1991 did you happen to send it to sigma for firmware update? Or did it yourself?
@@beintesaiz08 I did after it was made available. You have to send it in. You won’t be able to do it yourself. :)

Pulled the trigger and got the sigma100-400. Need to call sigma on how can I send the lens to them for the firmware update. Sub'd to your channel..👊

are you still happy with your choise?
Maybe want to add something?)
Hey! Yeah, I am happy with my choice. Now I want the 70-200 mark 2 hahaha
Remove your hat for videos, your face is dark, no eyes. Hat is for Sunny days, you are in a dark room.
