Merci. I learned the fretboard by using the Circle of Fifths. I played every C on all sgrings, then F, Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, Gb, B, E, A, D, G and that brings us back to C, C, C, C....Play each string, going up and down, and start from the top E or the low E. In less than a week, even my piano teacher was impressed. Scotty from Scottys Bass Lessons gives this, and says to practice this in this order. It helped a lot.
Hello Guilherme. It is good that many people are providing tab under their score as this gives us an opportunity to progress with our sight reading and see the choices which different people make when playing songs which cover more than 1st position. I see that in the same way as how I learned to solve cryptic crosswords years ago. One magazine would have a crossword with a simple and a cryptic set of clues which give the same answer. I started by solving the straight clues, then reverse engineering how the cryptic could get that answer. After a while I was looking at them together. Nowadays, I rarely do non-cryptic crosswords. It's a case of steadily weening ourselves off one and onto the other. It takes a different amount of time for each person, but the main thing is to make a conscious effort to transfer our skills. 👍 Happy plucking to you 😁
Thanks for this video! Ive been trying to learn the fret board so long but ultimately got wound up in your situation 😭 This really helped me, so thanks! I really like your videos too, so keep up the great work!
Hello, nice to meet you, I use the translator to write to you. I find it a very nice video to learn the notes on the guitar. But the problem is that I don't understand English.
Another very direct and practical lesson. This comparison with piano keys makes it much easier for those who are familiar with the keyboard. My difficulty is really reading a piece's sheet music and applying it to the guitar neck. I always use tablature drawn alongside the sheet music, but that hasn't helped me master the neck, and I'm considering buying your exercise book to help me on this journey. Does it somehow apply these topics from this video? Thank you and congratulations on your great work.
Heyhey, I think my booklet won't help you specifically with this problem, you might want to look into sheet music teaching materials specifically. My booklet specialises on technique exercises. Thank you for the kidn words though!
Hi Beatrix, I love your name. My mother's was Beatriz! Just wanted to take a minute of your time and say that as a beginner ( although I'm old) , I found your approach very easy to understand. I would've liked if you, before going into the actual fret notes, you had provided an explanation of the tuning of the guitar and the open strings. Thank you for making this video. Is hrlpful and is appreciated.
Thx Bea, I was unclear about the different pitches of identical notes. I realize they share the same harmonics except for the fundamental, which alters the character, but most of the instructional videos I've encountered don't bother to emphasize this, in fact many of them advocate for using whichever note is most accesible, and call it a different voicing. Not sure if this is done just for chords and harmony or possibly melodies as well. Let me know what you think...scott
When? Ha ha ha ha ha Oh, my ribs, help. When? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, someone get a doctor, I can't breath. When? *thud* *gasp* this is all your fault...

Would it be possible to provide subtitles (cc) in Portuguese? As a Brazilian, I wouldn't complain. Excellent content
