Although the action on this was a little before my time its great to see one of the best short ovals in action. From my childhood through to my early twenties South Brink raceway was where i spent my saturday nights and there will always be a place in my heart for it.
What a great vid, reminds me of my saturday evenings at Winbledon at exactly this time. What a shame this track is now listed in Defunct Stock Car Tracks. Nice little inset of how it now is, even if a sad one.
For those with fond memories of the South Brink Stadium, Wisbech and lovers of 'Historic' Stock Car racing everywhere, this film contains all of my childhood heros! The loss of the sound track is no big deal, I'd dubbed music on it to drown out some of the projector clatter of this soundless original cine film. Many thanks to my dad Geoff for capturing these events and allowing me to commit them to video.
The first race was the Stock car British championship ,Charlie Brown 644 won it . I was car 129 in shot several times red white and blue magnette. Lindsay Horstead 129 (Lukie)
midsaint776 i still have my todd weeny stock car but no wheels i purchased it at fox hall many years a go from the souvineer shop through the gates at ipswich when i was 5 years old my uncle used to race no 612 ian leeder and my dad was his mjucanic back in the 70s aint been back since late 80s would love to go back
I don't recall seeing the Dagenham Knights racing, but do know that the Aldershot Knights F2 Stock Car team visited the South Brink Raceway to compete against the Wisbech 'Fen Tigers' Autospeedway team. Fen Tigers were #94 Dave Anderson #417 Roger Warnes, #352 Rick Drewery, #235 Stu Blyth, #546 John Gray and #31 Henry King.
Str4wB34ry . Yes I bought that when I was a kid , also Todd Sweeneys superstock with the curved roof . I still have got them somewhere , 47 years or so later.
hi i guess it's around the 1973 - 75 era , mid 70's at least . i guy near me used to do it and i can remember watching him , his brothers and sons stripping out the cars and biulding them , on the drive at their house .
Ahhhhh, those were the days and the staple of my Saturday evenings at Wimbledon Stadium. Breaks my heart to see these places abandoned or worse - swallowed up in developments. Whatever became of the midget formula?

I loved it, I have many many fond memories of the South Brink Raceway.
Used to go to Wisbech just before it was closed in the 90's, watching Ministox, Metros, Bangers etc. The stadium itself didn't look much different!
