I was just checking the duty free offerings of the airport I'm landing at and I saw this one so I here I am watching you and you had me at kadayif and baklava! How can I pass on a flavour profile like that, it'll be like betraying my country 😂 Cheers Geoff!
This sounds great. In the US we get the regular 12 at 43% and it's a good daily dram kind of bottle. The specs are like the Glenlivet 12 illicit still that I have been enjoying so hope this ends up as a general release or at least a special release. Cheers
Interesting views Geoff. I have a bottle on the regular 12 at 43%. It's not an incredibly whisky but I actually enjoy it, some lovely flavours and a good dram to open up an evening
I feel similarly about this one. It's more intense (aka better) than the regular 12, and it's really solid. Just one of those ones that doesn't leave a lasting impression with me...
Hi Geoff, could you please make a review on Glen Grant 15 and 18, the new bottle design.. Glen Grant 15 price here in the Philippines is $58USD and Glen Grant 18 here is $92USD.. Would love to here it from you.
Had only tried Glen Grant 10yo, not a big fan. It's fine, but I prefer other bourbon-matured things like Glenfiddich12, Glenlivet12, Glenmorangie10, Glencadam 10, Glenrothes bourbon reserve, Aultmore 12, etc., cause they are more characteristic. Totally agree on complexity issue! How different flavors match together is more important. If they can't be mixed well , complexity can't justify imbalance.
Regarding the "natural color" issue, I do wonder: if a distillery makes the effort to remind us that a particular whisky is "non-chill filtered," then I would think the same distillery would remind us that the whisky is "naturally colored." If there is NO mention of coloring, then I'm going to assume coloring has been added. I also wonder how often we come across a naturally colored whisky when the label mentions nothing about the whisky's color.
I came across the fact that Glen Moray also only sells their true integrity bottles in travel retail. What idiot(s) in these companies thinks that is the best practice, I would try both brands if their standard offering were an integrity offering, otherwise I do not even look at them. I filter my money and prevent it from going to brands that insist on giving the least for the most!
Good to know, Geoff. Some whiskys I'd love to hear your thoughts on: Benriach Curiositas 10, Longrow, Kilchoman Machir Bay, An Cnoc 12, Aberlour 12 non-chill filtered, Port Charlotte Islay Barley & Scottish Barley. Irish: Green Spot Leoville Barton, West Cork Glengarriff Series Peat Charred, Dunville's Three Crowns Peated, Writer's Tears Red Head, Tyrconnell Madeira.
Oof... unfortunately I have very few of those coming down the pipeline. Only one that's coming up is the PC Islay Barley. A few bottles to consider in there, though!
Excellent. Curious strategy from Glen Grant, going through GTR, but welcome! Thanks for the cool review Geoff 🙏
Makes you wonder if someone at Glen Grant brought in a Glenlivet illicit still and said we should do this too ?
Thanks Roy! Odd strategy indeed!
Excellent vid and a great analysis. Keep up the great work. Cheers.
Thanks a lot Al! Big fan of your channel btw!

Hah you should! Absolutely love Turkey! 🇹🇷

It might be at the travel retail shops!

Current European duty free price for the 12 ncf 48% comparatively very good value. (£40 per litre).
Cask Haven was £60-65…
It's a better whisky imo but thats a huge jump in price!
I quite agree with you🥂
Cheers Mats! 🥃

"Complexity can't justify imbalance" ... that's a great quote!

Good point Andy! This very well may be coloured. I see no reason why a brand WOULDN'T want to state that their whisky is fully natural.
Thank you from Israel 👋🏻
Cheers from Taiwan!
You really need to try the 15 50%
I've tried it!

No wonder I haven’t heard of this one, only travel retail 🤔?, the regular 12 is a decent dram though at 43 %, slàinte Geoff.
Agree, I like the regular 12, too! Cheers David!
👍🏻

@@Gwhisky No worries! Lots of your videos have already looked at others I'm considering buying atm. Looking forward to the PC Islay Barley ep!
Too bad that it is not generally available!
I would steer clear of this distillery. I bought a 15 year old, very bad, most horrible scotch to date.
