    After ya changed those parts out ya were supposed to ride around for 5 or 10 minutes with the a/c on high and your headlights on to reset the idle.

    My primary coil would not give any sparks on my 97 Ranger. REPLACING THE COIL PACK CONNECTOR FIXED IT. Sadly I tried replacing the cam position sensor,$55, the coil pack $60, and even the ECU (Engine Control Unit) $150 and then as a last-ditch effort I thought the connector might be bad. From your video, I learned how the check the spark by lifting the spark boot just a little out of the socket on the coil pack and hearing and seeing the spark ( at the 1:23 mark.)

    I have the same problem with my 2000 ford ranger 2.5l . Going to change my pcm and hope it works, I did buy two new coils packs still nothing. Hope when I get the new pcm it works. Plus I do have the problem of a high idle when it was working and that's because I have a air leak coming out for my upper manifold, need a new gasket there. Need a little TLC to get things working again 😂 thanks for you video!!

    I am having a similar problem. That coil pack you took one of the tower spark plug wire off. I have no juice going to the coil. Any suggestions

    I have the same issue. Where did you order your pcm from snd how much was it? Does it have to be programed before its installed or do you need to provide a vin number?

      hey Mike, I got mine remanufactured from Rockauto for around $200. Look inside the driver side door, the number for you're pcm is on that sticker, you know the one that says tire size, year, etc. It's a long digit number that ends with 2 letters AA, AB, etc. It will say on rockauto whether or not it needs to be progammed, mine is a 1998 and didn't need to be programmed

      @@diymotorcycling1719 okay then. Ill look out for those numbers. I seen they carried some at autozone, advance auto, etc.. for 120. I have heard they can be expensive so im wondering if they are low quality for being that price. Ill call around tomorrow and give them that number on the door

      @@diymotorcycling1719 I found one for a decent price at O reillleys. $100 plus $54 core charge. What size tools are needed to replace the computer and did you need to remove the wheel well fender on the driver side to get to it?

    • @diymotorcycling1719
      @diymotorcycling1719  3 роки тому

      @@michealbarnes66 It's on the passenger side firewall. The big connector with like 50 wires going into it. All you need is a 10mm socket for the two bolts on the connector. There is also a plastic bracket near the connector that needs to come off, I believe its an 11mm

    • @diymotorcycling1719
      @diymotorcycling1719  3 роки тому

      Be careful not to mess up the pins on the connector when you re-install it. Alternate tightening the two bolts, so you don't bend any of the pcm pins

    Did you have to replace the crank staff position senor?

    • @diymotorcycling1719
      @diymotorcycling1719  3 роки тому

      No, I replaced the camshaft position sensor, which is the signaling device for the pcm for when to fire the ignition coils. The sensor wasn't the problem, I noticed it ran much better when I replaced the pcm

    • @diymotorcycling1719
      @diymotorcycling1719  3 роки тому

      CKP sensor is camshaft position sensor which signals for primary ignition coil. CMP sensor is camshaft position sensor which signals for secondary ignition coil.easyautodiagnostics.com/ford/2.5L/ignition-system-wiring-diagram-1

    I have the same high idle issue. I've replaced IAC Valve, O2 sensors, catalytic converter, idle control sensor, mass air flow sensor, EGR valve and sensor, and DPFE. There are two more vacuum sensors that I have yet to replace. One at the canister at the rear, and there is one under hood on driver fender well. STILL IDLES HIGH😡😡😠😠! If you disconnect the rear ABS sensor, at the axle, it will stop the high idle. However, it will also stop the speedometer from working. This shouldn't be that difficult. Ford couldn't tell me shit and I'm not going to pay them to.
    Good luck, let me know if you've gotten that high idle problem solved.

    • @diymotorcycling1719
      @diymotorcycling1719  2 роки тому

      Rick Stotts, yeah I sprayed half a bottle of brake clean under the hood checking for obvious vacuum leaks, absolutely no change in rpm. I think it has to be the throttle body itself. Mine still has a high idle, not crazy high, but still a little annoying

      I took my throttle body off and cleaned and inspected, cable isn't binding. There's something electrical/PCM wise that is connected to the rear ABS sensor, the PCM and the idle.

      Hey Rick, I would replace that rear ABS sensor on the diff, apparently it is also a speed sensor. Could possibly be the problem. Im going to disconnect mine tomarrow and see if cures the high idle. Thanks

      Replaced the speed sensor, no change. There's an evap canister sensor and evap valve, the only two things that haven't been replaced.
