Sadly this will be the final "Of The Killer" game. BB's 9th adventure is going out on a hell of a high though, It's easily my favourite yet. As with the previous games, Face of the Killer tells a fairly standalone story, but I'd definitely recommend checking out the previous games before this as there are lots of familiar faces and callbacks to previous adventures! You can check out a full playlist of all 8 other games here: ua-cam.com/play/PLPwIGGh-tc7HB2Ei0TDxPaOnrURW4ropk.html
They are weird as heck but I've enjoyed following along since discovering your channel, and every time a new 'Killer' game pops up on the list it's the first priority to watch it. They are very memorable in their surreal tone both visually and in sound design. The humorous touches only add to it. I am sad to see them go but I'm sure the dev has other plans for the future.
these games are amazine, and while it may be the last we have seen of the killer, who knows what else BB may end up doing in the future, if they are to ever return, However, after re-playing the other games, the only real overarching plot or moral of the story i could figure is that "Society is both bad and repetitive, with only very small changes over time." And's that about it, which i guess goes decently with the whole point of the game, but i guess we all felt the same as BB did when it all turns out that despite every world shattering revelation and event that happened, and that even though everything may look different, not much really changed, as is the cycle of humanity and it's constant need for change, ironically enough, itself is unable to change. Each game talking about a forgotten past, and focusing more on the it being forgotten part than the past itself. Long Story short, the games are awesome, existential, and barely make any sense at all.
I guess BB really has managed to achieve the American Dream- from struggling art student and failed zine producer to pop culture icon and possible god.
I sincerely hope the creator knows there's a swelling of love for these strange little games. I'll dearly miss these Of The Killer games. Thank you for shining a spotlight on them! And I dearly hope to perhaps see more in this style even if not this particular series. Just happy to see something this unique get a voice, truly.
I hope they make more games, even if it's not "of the killer". I love these their artstyle and style of exploration. Plus the music has gotten absolutely amazing the past 2 entries. Came here just to say how hyped i get any time a new one of these gets released, but your pinned comment there got me a little more somber than i was just seeing the thumbnail. In the even that the dev(s?) doesn't want to make more games at all, and they happen upon this comment. Just a big ol thanks for one of the most unique horror games out there. Horror-comedy is criminally underrepresented, and this is the magnum opus of it for gaming, in mu humble opinion.
Yeah, I'll be sad to see this series go, but I'm pretty sure the dev will continue developing games that will still have their unique style though. They're also going to release a special collected version (with all of the games and some extras) in April. I guess BB deserves a little rest after all these crazy adventures. Looking forward to what the dev does next! :)
The writing in these is just so... perfect. It's so perfect. I know Stephen (garmentdistrict, the dev) takes a staunchly anti-commercial DIY attitude with his games, but it would be psychically liberating if he was able to scrounge up a dev team to make some kind of feature-length point-n-click style adventure in this universe. It's really sad knowing that this is the last one, it feels to me like these were finally starting to get really polished and stylish (compare the usage of effects and sound in this one to that of the first game in the series, it's almost a night-and-day difference).
a fittingly bizarre ending to a bizarre series, kinda hoped for more of an explanation to what was all going on but oh well, kinda should've expected that there wasn't one
In true Strange Town fashion, it leaves us with more questions than answers… That said, I do think it would be interesting to see whether BB returns to the city or moves out. If she did go back, she'd probably be able to land a major media gig and take her place as an all-powerful celebrity in the Killer’s stead. But if she stays in the suburbs or leaves to the outside world, where everything is seemingly relatively normal... that would probably be better for everyone. She can move out of the hood and live a safer life, and let XX City keep their murderous mutant version of her if that's what they want so badly.

Great finale for a great series. Somebody else already did the analysis for this part's main themes elsewhere in the comments, so I don't feel the need to cover that. For anyone struggling with the subtext of this episode, I'll just say this: it's all text. Maybe more than any other Killer installment, this one states every plot point and theme it has in dialogue and imagery, but often in earlier scenes than they're relevant. This one kinda' demands a second viewing. I'd also like to briefly highlight the excellent social analogy here, like different comments have already done with thematic readings. A hipster graduates college, embarrasses herself at the following grad party, gets hit with existentialism so hard that it feels like the world is ending, and then (literally) sees the world in a new light and starts down a new path after killing the past - temporarily. She's still gonna' need to confront more ugly truths about the world and herself, but if BB hasn't proven herself a survivor in the past four years, then I don't know what she's been doing.
I'm in constant awe at the writing in these games, how they weave such huge ideas together so eloquently and hilariously. Every minute there's another line that leaves me speechless. What a joy to witness.
Its insane how far the presentation has gone up in quality since the first game. Yes, the first title in the 'of the killer' series was already very stylish but the setpieces have grown even crazier! I'll miss seeing more of BB's reports, and I look forward to the next works of the authors. And a special thanks to you too ABG team since it was thanks to your channel/website that I got introduced to it.
Thanks! It's been a real joy to cover these games. There really is nothing else like them in the gaming space. I agree, every installment has been a step up from the (already excellent) previous ones. I was amazed with just how much detail was packed into every scene in this one, and the first person sections were a very cool touch too!

Aww, I'm sad that this is the final game. I can't put my finger on it but there's something so charming and unique about this series that I love a lot. At least it went out with what is by far the best game. Thank you to the creators for sharing BB and her adventures and thank you ABG for playing all of the games and uploading them for us to see.
This is perhaps one of my favourite game series ever, each entry was top-tier and this might just take the cake. A worthy finale for an amazing series. So glad to have found this.
Thanks Alpha beta gamer for following this series of games. I started watching it on your channel and ended up playing them myself. Of all the games I've seen here this it's the one I'm most grateful to have known. ❤
BB: I've never killed ANYONE!!...Intentionally, that I know about. I'm going to miss this series as they've been pretty inspirational for me, but time marches on. I hope garmentdistrict continues game development even if they don't make any more horror games.
At this point, it's kind of a given that Movie BB and BB's suburban relatives are going to off each other somehow. And BB's friends survived having a murderer follow them home, through an exploding city, after midnight. I don't know how. Maybe Clarice appeared to keep youth culture alive a little longer. It's fiiiiiine.
First, the game game lulls you into letting down your guard with its cartoony visuals, irreverently pseudo-intellectual humor, and social commentary as insightful as it is utterly incomprehensible. But then it wastes no time in unleashing its bloody, terrifying horror. Now you're unsettled and on edge, watching every shadow, looking for the glint of a sharpened knife or a sadistic grin. Then, when you least expect it, it springs the *TRUE* terror upon you: The horror of realizing that you severely overshared at a party and now a bunch of complete strangers remember you only as a painfully-awkward spaz.
once again, i am left baffled, confused, and lost. upside, this time around i somehow don't feel paranoid just at the idea of looking out my window. what a weird series of games. i think i would have chosen to live in the burning apartment complex of downtown after day three with murderous extended family.
I'm devastated this is the last game, but also super excited to see what the devs come up with next! This has been my favourite series out of any game you've ever covered, and I really hope the devs continue to create because they truly have something special.
Long have I awaited the next installment, and now my appetite is sated. Love how the social commentary is weaved into the series. BB best girl That 3D stuff is new, cool addition
in the end, BB became the new and biggest icon for killers from all around in the form of herself as the "Killer Queen" from Queens album Sheer Heart Attack
i appreciate how shamelessly the political message is delivered here. cycles of violence perpetuated throughout history by killers hiding in plain sight. to no particular end, people of classical ideations seek to upend society in pursuit of some historically mythologized utopia and accomplish nothing more than hurting a lot of people in the process. meanwhile, others stand gormless & complicit under the assumption that history has ended and the world has grown static. as emphasized by the final scene as BB states, "the one good thing about history is that the worst of it is probably over," as she's stalked by a corrupted reflection of herself. as the acceptance for a deeply troubled society sets in, the killer becomes a part of her too.
Excellent summary, and I really like how you described the ending and what happened there with BB and the Killer. The only point of debate is whether this series is willing to kill its main character right after it ends to prove a point, or whether its tone prevents outright tragedy from occurring and BB is the eternal Final Girl. I lean towards the latter. EDIT, for whoever manages to find this: Anthology of the Killer has confirmed that BB survived and is even taking steps to get away from XX City's madness. However, the tall BB is still out there.
All good things must come to an end I suppose. I’m glad I get to see this series through with you ABG. Here’s hoping that the creator makes something as good in the future!
i think you have always been not only the biggest fan but also the biggest player that played these games. i often wonder if thecatamites (or garmentdistrict) know about you giving their game series exposure to broad audience? i know they are planning to do something big with the series on itch in april after the final game is released. it's called "Anthology Of The Killer" where all 7 games will be put into one game loader (maybe similar to hauntedps1 jampack discs or dread x collection). rather there be something extra additions, perhaps a Hub to move around, that remains to be seen or left to imagination.

@@101VoltsEntirely fair that you haven't heard of him, he's not just an old character but one of the oldest, I'm talking 1983 and built on literal Pac-Man arcade hardware; in fact, the only reason I know about him is because I once had a plug-and-play console with a bunch of Namco arcade games, and the original Mappy was on there and was easily my favourite In the original he's a policeman mouse busting a den of cat thieves and retrieving stolen goods, so his being a policeman is probably why he got used in Of The Killer if I were to hazard a guess
@@Smeelio Huh. I see what you mean now, and I'm a bit surprised I hadn't seen him before - yard sales were great for retro games around 2004 (they probably were just "old junk" to a lot of people in that year, like VHS tapes,) but I don't suppose I could have seen every character. BB finds a way home after this. I don't care what you tell me, that's the truth I'm sticking to. I am NOT accepting the possibility of BB being stuck in a topsy-turvy blood-and-gore bullshit world for the rest of her life. She ties up some loose ends, gets home, takes a very much-needed bath and goes to bed. That's it. The End. Nothing more, nothing less.

@@101VoltsEntirely fair that you haven't heard of him, he's not just an old character but one of the oldest, I'm talking 1983 and built on literal Pac-Man arcade hardware; in fact, the only reason I know about him is because I once had a plug-and-play console with a bunch of Namco arcade games, and the original Mappy was on there and was easily my favourite
In the original he's a policeman mouse busting a den of cat thieves and retrieving stolen goods, so his being a policeman is probably why he got used in Of The Killer if I were to hazard a guess
@@Smeelio Huh. I see what you mean now, and I'm a bit surprised I hadn't seen him before - yard sales were great for retro games around 2004 (they probably were just "old junk" to a lot of people in that year, like VHS tapes,) but I don't suppose I could have seen every character.
(I was born in 1991.)
On a somewhat related subject, the Atari 2600 game "Keystone Kapers" is one that I had played numerous times. (It has a police officer going after a robber in a department store.)
@@SmeelioMappys cameo in this game reminds me a lot of Dendy(gar)’s presence in Crypt Worlds. I think more games should bring back and kinda reinvent obsolete video game mascots.
Wake up babe, new installment in BB’s adventures dropped
47:49 ...she'll be fine.
at 35:40 I see she slipped through the guards
Sad to see the series leave, but damned if I wasn't happy to see it go on such a high note
_FINAL_ GAME!?
Yeah, it's the last in the series. Looking forward to seeing what the dev does next though! :)
@@AlphaBetaGamer SERIOUSLY!? THEY ENDED ON A CLIFFHANGER!?
@@buildertherobloxian4731Eh, after the rest of these games, we can assume BB lives.
(Also, if the second BB is a new mask for the Killer like the opening implies, BB may be in "good" company. Maybe.)
this game is definitely unique and i really love its artsyle i didn't know it has 8 more series! which made me happy but knowing that this is the last one also makes me sad, thanks for your gameplay ABG they really keep me entertained and for showing this wonderful game.
BB!!!
I find it refreshing the main character is taking the situation seriously. So many games with the toony art style decide to make their main characters "quirky."
I wasn't even expecting this, and i haven't started theb video yet but WOW!!! i CANT WAIT!! i'll edit this comment later with my thoughts
edit: well that was neat. pretty accurate description of the suburbs
Truly the end, and pinnacle, of a legend
I've read Burroughs and Kafka, but I haven't read Bukowski-- will I get this game?
Will PKD work in a pinch?
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THE NEXT ENTREE IN THIS SERIES!
Huh, a game examining existentialism that doesn't completely embarrass itself. How exceptionally rare.
BB IS BACK!!!!!
This is great! I love it
Ok didnt expext the Minor Threat reference 👌
Awesome game series!
I need someone to make an "Of the Killer Explained" video cause I'm struggling to comprehend...
Trippy
Creepy Cool looking game
BB finds a way home after this. I don't care what you tell me, that's the truth I'm sticking to. I am NOT accepting the possibility of BB being stuck in a topsy-turvy blood-and-gore bullshit world for the rest of her life. She ties up some loose ends, gets home, takes a very much-needed bath and goes to bed. That's it. The End. Nothing more, nothing less.
Yesssss another one🤩🤩🤩
Hey, you should cover Picayune Dreams next! Really cool and niche bullet hell rouge-like perfect for ur channel
I love this series btw
ah yes. more... more of this strange and frankly uncanny series. i'm sure i'm going to hate the feeling in my gut as things get... weird.
bb is the goofiest character i have ever seen
This is my first exposure to this developer and i’, beyond confused
I know who the killers are. I won’t say though as it is inappropriate for this comment section.
The real horror here is a world where becoming a serial killer is the only viable career option.
Or that capitalism knows no bounds. You star inna movie and your entire identity gets stolen for profit.
The end of the killer series... So sad.
Also, i hate profile picture women youtuber channel on comments.
are swedish women supposed to be vaguely menacing??? lol
Do I need to watch the other parts of this series to understand what pretentious college/art student gobbledegook bullshit is going on here?
These aren't games you understand.
Just accept the nonsense and try to enjoy the ride.
@@toahero5925 Ah, so it actually is pretentious art student garbage.
Gotcha.
@@somagai467 Seems more of a parody of said art student stuff, IMO.
@@toahero5925 maybe. Perhaps some Kaufman-esque satirical take.
@@somagai467 I think Flesh of the Killer might be exactly what you’re looking for.
