Curious because my Norske, is about none, does Heimafra mean from Home in English? and I don't have a Norwegian keyboard so I'm missing some letters. I love this song, and these 2 and Helene Boksle are my favorites lately so I have to learn Norwegian.
8 years late, but here's a reply for you. I like to translate things using cognate words whenever possible: "Heimafrå" can be broken up into two words "heim", meaning "home", and "frå", meaning "from". So literally "home-from". You can turn this into idiomatic english by reversing the order and adding an implicit "away", and you get the result: "Heimafrå" means "away from home". EDIT: And then I realized it can also mean something that comes from home, like "I have the recipe from home" (eg har oppskrifta heimafrå), "I am working from home" (eg arbeidar heimafrå), "I will join the Zoom meeting from home" (eg vert med på zoom-møtet heimafrå). So basically, if "heimafrå" conveys a static situation it means not being at home, and if it conveys something with a kind of conceptual _direction_ it means basically originating from one's home.

"Hjemmefra" can mean "from home" and "away from home", as in something that happens from the home (doing your job from your home - jobbe hjemmefra) and someone or something that has traveled a distance from their "home base" (I left home - Jeg dro hjemmefra. I brought lunch from home - Jeg tok med lunsj hjemmefra). On its own the word most often means the former, but in this particular context it may mean the latter, so yeah I was wrong:) Oh, I'm just nitpicking here, but I couldn't leave it.
