I've been working in the contractor licensing industry in Florida since 2003 working for schools and providing post exam services to contractors; I've been an independent consultant since 2008. If you can look it up in the book and use your time wisely, you will hit your 70%. Tip: You answer what you can first and then save the harder look up questions for last; REMEMBER; 70% on the Florida State Exams is an A+. Save the really hard questions for last; there are plenty of questions you can reference faster to save time per question. And try to stay in one book at a time, the best you can. Classes definitely help, but classes are only tools to help you pass the exam. YOU pass the exam based upon your skills using time and how much time you spend learning the books and what each book covers. Don't memorize practice questions; know how to use the books. For Plumbing, choose a school that teaches/reviews Isometric drawings, because those are 30% of your trade grade. I've sent people live to live classes and they failed; I've had people home study with a tutor and passed. I've also had people only get the books, go in, take the test, and pass with no classes at all; it depends on the student. Good luck to everyone testing!

Do you have to get a trade exam (ex hvac) as well or can you just take the Florida Contractor Business and Finance Exam on its own and apply for a GC license in FL? Also, are there trade questions in the exam or are they straight from those two books?
You right. I have my exam Saturday in Doral business and finance . Let see . I try to get my electrical licencie for all state .

Passing the Contractor exam is when you study hard, if you can’t study or you don't have time for your studies l'd advise you get yourself a help like Mr James
I've always believed Contractor exam( getting the General license) is not for all but studying, you need God's grace to pass

When comes to this exam 60% of the Questions will come out of the Contractors Manual then the remaining questions will be from the BGA and AIA Documents . There are a total of 25 to 28 math questions. So do not see this exam as a math only exam. Remember you can afford to get 36 questions wrong in this exam and still pass with a 70%. In order to pass this exam you need (3) three things. .#1 Get to know these books in and out, learn how to navigate the books. Is not about memorizing questions, is all about finding the correct answer. #2. Time is key: you are limited on time. do not spend too much time on one question remember each question i s worth the same amount of points and 5 out of the 125 are not graded and they are given to you as pilot questions. #3 Comprehension. You need to read the question carefully and understand what they are asking you, then you need to think where can i find this answer. This is how you pass this Exam.

I got it on my 4th attempt after missing in by 1 2 times . But my part was the business for the electrical exam and you had to score 75% or higher . Still need to take the electrical code test

I have my EPA Universal Certification, I'm looking at CEI, books are $1695/ Power pack self pace online course $795 Do you think the would be enough to get ready for the B License?

13:20-15:00 My friend, these guys aren't here for the people, or for protection of the public. It's to create a high failure rate to keep people retaking the tests and getting more and more money. Imagine thousands and thousands of people taking the exam every week. It's a lot of money, and I'm sure they get kickback from the courses that offer help to pass the exam too. If they really gave a damn, they would've fixed this a long time ago and have had proper and better courses to actually teach people how to properly run their business via courses and still had the exam to certify them. High failure rate, just gives them more money, it's all about money sadly.

I have a license in Utah and Nevada. Im going to try for Florida. Usually i pay exam study company like Contractor Exam Center(Las Vegas) and i never buy the books. Those classes you will just learn like 600 questions and learn the answers. So after a few days, once you see the question , you kinda already know the answer. Is there any schools out there that actually do this in florida?

I primarily live in Utah , but Nevada is very close and potential business there . I’m gonna try for Florida so I can move there in the next couple years

It took me 1 year since application. Two tries for trade and 3 times for business and finance. Toughest exams.

I tool my business and finance in 2018 for my unlimited Electrical Contractor .. this exam pass works for the solar Contractor license ? Or do i have to take it again?
