You are the absolute cutest little chocolate hippie I have ever seen!! I have been binging your videos. I didn't realize the plethora of junk journal DIY videos online.. I was overwhelmed!! I couldn't find any that resonated with my personal style.. I am not a grandma so I hate anything with lace or frills lol,,, I dont have kids so I dont have old little golden books.. I am mid 40s black female Phd student with no children, I really love your video presentation style, The cadence in which you speak is easy to follow and most of all,,,,, YOU ARE NOT YELLING AND MAKING CRAZY GESTURES WITH THEIR HANDS , I must admit when I first started exploring videos, I kinda got freaked out when I would just see hands on the screen.. Sometimes its okay, but I more than anything, I truly appreciate your journaling inspiration. I am transitioning to a social media free lifestyle and back to exploring my home library which has been neglected since the onset of overwhelming social media presence in our lives... and letter writing.. because paper is beautiful..Thank you for your content young queen.. Keep up the good work. You represent us well.. From one melanin hippie to another.. #louisianaHippie
This was so helpful and informative! Of course, I want all the books mentioned! I really admire your approach to the JJ topic, as well as your aesthetic, your serenity and your really beautiful speaking voice. Thanks for sharing your art with us.💕
Thank you for sharing this fascinating book suggestion s, I have just realized why I am obsessed with book art, I kept a diary as a kid and now my collage journals are the mature diary creations of an adult. You learn something new everyday, thanks.
Just came across your channel. I love your videos! Structured and well produced but still intimate and accessible. Thanks! I am going to check out some of your book recommendations.
Thanks for sharing the list of books. I will be looking into getting some of them. I love the magazines Daphne's Diary and Somerset Studio I have been getting those for years. take care stay safe
I just discovered you through the algorithm today and I am so glad. You are bringing such a fresh & modern take onto the junk journal and it's so fascinating! Also, I am always here for the diversity!
I just discovered you, and you rock! I’m so glad you exist. I just want to gobble up all these books and magazines. I’m gonna have to watch it again so I can right stuff down. Don’t Stop!
Another wonderful video. I have become such a fan of your inspirational channel! I just saw Remarkable Diaries in a bookshop while visiting my daughter in Minnesota. I believe I would of bought it right then and there except for the fact it was soooo hefty and would not have fit in my suitcase! Thanks for the reminder...I will be purchasing it soon.
Hey! You mentioned the origins of junk journaling when speaking of the accidental diarist. So a cool tidbit I found a couple of years ago. I found a junk journal (like full on ephemera ((I use your definitions of this)) like train tickets, locks of a lovers hair, birthday card snippets) that was a distant family members from the early 1900s at my grandmothers house. Really cool to find and I'm sure your aware this was a practice then but I found out about that after researching it. I was so shocked to see it and it was so cool to see her writing in different languages throughout, the things she treasured, sad and happy notes she wrote.... She grew up in Scotland so I really am curious to learn anything you know on the history of this and how much earlier the tradition started! Not just in the US but globally. So excited to see these book recs and your newest upload as well. I've loved you for so long and just realized I wasn't subscribed on my new account! Thanks for all the free information and education you provide and for giving us a slice of your passion! 🖤
Hey Sarah! That vintage junk journal sounds amazing! I would love to see pictures of it. The research hunt is still on. Thank you for coming back to watch on your new account!
I’m so glad I found you, I’m really enjoying your content! As an aside, you have a wonderful, warm deep voice. I would listen to you reading audiobooks or something!
I just enjoy your content so much! It’s just very refreshing and a unique and different take on junk journaling and journaling. It definitely fills some gaps in the conversation and the community and I’m excited to continue watching.
I really enjoyed this video. The list of books is interesting, and I have four of them on my list to at least take a close look at. The Polish magazines I had never heard of, nor the first one on your list. Books are more of an obsession for me than even junk journaling. In fact, I first explored the field because of my desire to use a junk journal format to write a novel. Still working on that project, but am spending too much time on other journal projects to finish it. I found you through the orgazination collaboration, and I am very pleased that I did. I am so interested in your almanac diary. Good luck with your calligraphy.
Ahhhhh!!! Your videos are sooo gooood. 😍💕😍💕😍 when I check subs and you have a new one, you are always first. Really interesting book selections. Had no idea that there were books on diaries. I “need” the flow paper special edition. 🙄 😁 REALLY looking forward to your next video in 17th c diary!!!! Lastly … I am fascinated at the collar and cuffs of your sweater. Did you purchase it distressed or did you make it that way (by deliberate tearing or by long time wear).
I am pumped to watch the process of making a diary! I do simple pamphlet stitch journals and am fascinated with book making. It’s a beautiful art to watch. I’m currently making a 3 signature junk journal in a semi dark Snow White theme from a digital kit and I love. It’s very satisfying seeing it come together. I do not own any of the books you’ve shared, but have a couple Flow for paper lovers. I love them and definitely rip the pages out for projects lol
yes I subscribed to Daphne's Diary last year and I admit, I haven't used anything from them. We also have more books than I will admit and inspiration a plenty. I've created a few collage papers but haven't used them. I do enjoy creating with the gel plate and the endless papers created from them but still stuck on what to create. Busy organizing as things were moved all about and hoping once I get re-organized and mail some long overdue pkgs to very patient folks, I will find my groove. As always, TYFS.
Books R Us. TFS your recommendations. Sometimes it’s good to immerse oneself in not only the process, but the history and perspectives of others who inspire us. One book I refer to often is “A Family of Poems - My Favorite Poetry for Children” by Caroline Kennedy. Not only sweet poetry but also the paintings by Jon J Muth, which in themselves are inspirational. Simplicity and beauty personified on these pages. Looking forward to your future videos! 🌺
Bravo! I truly enjoyed this video and the well crafted content. It was just the right amount of information- I was engaged throughout. Thank you for the references. Love your channel and TFS.
Thanks for this great collection of books. I immediately bought "Remarkable Diaries" (which in Europe is titled "Great Diaries") and I can't stop reading in it and looking at the amazing handwriting of many famous people. I hihgly recommend this book to everyone who is interested in diaries and handwriting. It is a must have.
Good morning Thank you for all of your efforts and keeping ‘US’ crafting. 🙂 If I may ask, can you sell a handmade journal if you have used images/pages from children’s books ( like Disney books)? I’m asking because I’ve heard ppl say you can if you don’t copy the pages or use the very book as your glue book. I’m so confused. Lol
This is a great question, but I don’t know the answer to it, unfortunately. I recommend checking out copyright.gov to see if there are any legal issues with repurposing copyright materials or ask a lawyer!

They did a pamphlet stitch in the 1700’s too! So I hope that’s not disappointing lol.

Do you sell any of your journals
I used too, but I found that I prefer teaching rather than running a shop!
I've added some "junk" journals to a consignment store but none sold
