I had the Nvidia Shield for a while and I've always been loyal to Google TV. When I saw this video I was so excited because it's harder to find Google TVs now and a dedicated box from Google that integrates with all the other Google stuff I have is a dream come true
If you have Nvidia Shield you rather have Android TV😂😮 or even if you have Chromecast (with GTV Launcher) or even the (posibally) new Streamer Device you would have actually Android TV as operating system, but with the GTV Launcher App, Settings App and Google Assistent App UI is somehow different from standard Android TV basis version.
I've got a Shield in the living room and a Google TV in the bedroom. Sorry, Shield, old and all as it is, is much better. The sound, the blue tooth and gaming/Steam... It's like 3 years old and still fast and smooth, the upscaling on 4k looks fantastic on a 65" Samsung...the dongle not as much, I have a 4k in my room, insignia, so not Samsung but not bad and only the 4k channels and streams look right... Anything lower isn't as good at all ... But with price difference, I think the Google single was a great value and think it's right for the money. Time for a new Shield please NVidia

I cancelled Netflix ages ago and rarely watch UA-cam on my TV so the buttons get remapped through an app to open what I actually care about. Without that app the buttons are just a waste of space for me.
personally 60Hz on a 4K TV is fine for me, so as long as it's less laggy, and I can snatch one on a deal I'll consider it. My biggest gripe with the current Google Chromecast dongles is how slippery the remotes are which is why I have a silicone sleeve over them to add a bit of grip.
I doubt very much that it will have official support, Google will not pay for licenses that aren't available on streaming platforms in first place. it will depend entirely on software decoding. As long as the HDMI passthrough is not blocked there will be no problem at all.
One thing I liked about the original Chromecast and Chromecast 2 was that it could be completely hidden behind the TV. You plugged it into the HDMI and powered it with the USB port on the TV.
I know from searching AliExpress that there's some company in China which produced their own mounts for Xiaomi TV Box and Apple TV box models that allow them to be mounted behind a TV or on a wall or ceiling inside a cabinet, which means someone could hide the box behind their TV, while still having USB and/or network ports available. (I have one for my regular Mi Box, and plan to get another if I decide to upgrade to a Xiaomi TV Box S 2nd Gen) Over in the US (if I recall correctly), there's Total Mount, who have produced Apple TV box mounts, and I can imagine them producing one for the Google TV streamer.
Drop the Netflix button and just allow for custom mapping if you MUST include a UA-cam button. But, I would really prefer two custom quick launchers. Netflix will not continue to lead, but I bet they paid a boat load for that spot on the remote.
Nice video. I love the new design, it will be interesting to see what price point these devices will come in at. There are a lot of streaming devices out there now...
Having the volume button on the top is great for left handers like me! It's hard to adjust the volume when holding the remote in your left hand, it's definitely made for your right thumb.
PLEASE let this be a major hardware upgrade! The existing one is OK, but its long in the tooth, and only goes up to 60Hz, it'd be nice if the new one did more, as suggested, 120Hz

Love the design, although I dont think it's going to have any sort of UWB integration. UWB is nice for speakers that can be anywhere in your house (and accessible since you want them to sound nice), but here you won't walk up to your TV to play something, that's literally the reason why the remote was created, so you didn't have to leave your couch.
Timing seems just about right.. I'm on the lookout for a new TV and since my 4K Chromecast with Google TV is really starting to show its age, I was limiting myself to TV brands using Google TV as the smart platform.
