I don't know about everyone else but I'm not buying him abusing her. She was bored that was obvious. Whether you are having marriage problems are not. You don't do what she did, there is no excuse. Why didn't she just ask for a divorce? She enjoyed the money that's why.

I grew up with Rob in NJ, from kindergarten through high school and even summer camp. Besides being a straight A student, and star athlete, he was also a very nice guy and didn't seem to let success get to his head. Everything seemed to come natural to him. We lost touch after high school. I can't believe he got snagged by such an evil predator. Very sad.

Dude marries a waitress/bar manager. Gives her a lifestyle she NEVER would have gotten with anyone else. She bangs the Sparky that lives in a trailer and then kills the goose that lays the golden egg. This should definitely be a movie or at least a warning tale of what can happen to you when you give someone everything they ever wanted and it still isn’t enough. I’m sure the guy wasn’t an angel. But just divorce him, take his cash and then live with the electrician… in a new double wide trailer of your dreams. So dumb.

I read a book about this case. Nancy drugged Robert and as soon as she knew he was out, she bludgeoned him to death. There was no fight between them. The woman who looked after the kids testified that she didn't see Robert after a certain time and she heard odd noises from the bedroom. I don't believe for one second that Robert was abusive to his wife. She could make up almost any story she wanted to about their marriage after he was dead so she went for the abusive spouse lie.

I wish the phrase "Money can't buy happiness" was never a thing and instead replaced with "Money can't cure all things" or something of the like. In society money can't explicitly buy happiness or any emotion, but it can alleviate the burdens of life that increase stress and depression. It can't cure all of your problems but it can erase some of the things causing them and allow you to address the deeper problems we would otherwise have to ignore because we couldn't afford them before.

This is just so shocking to think how a person that could have 50% of a good amount of money and be able to live her life freely, opted for murdering someone instead. It's beyond me. That goes beyond greed in my opinion, it involves deeper emotions, maybe grudge, revenge, a long and deep desire for commiting the murder for a long time... It can't be a simple "i want all his money so I'll k°ll him" it has to be something deeper within that head of hers.

    • @tearainey1

I think it had to be hate, if he was offering her 50 percent and a clean break most sane people would agree to that. The issue of the kids would have been contentious probably but it sounded like she just really wanted to live the life of luxury while hooking up with a side piece. I wonder if she even gave any thought to how it would affect her kids, or if she even cared for that matter. I imagine she never expected her busy hard working husband to catch on, and when he did it ruined the fun and excitement. That turned to spite and hate, where nothing mattered not even the money she just wanted him gone.

As someone who lived in HK for years and was on the edges of the high rolling expat community, coke is a huge problem. I had an old roommate who would work insane hours and then go on coke binges with friends that were beyond extreme. Luckily that roommate was not violent. You would just find them curled in a ball of clothes surrounded by bottles of alcohol. With how prevalent it is there, if someone is said to do coke, they very likely do. It is just extremely common.

Even here in the states. I used to know a lot of guys in the financial sector in NY, and they are were pretty much pill poppers, alcoholics and coke users. They obviously were very high functioning, but all had substance abuse problems. They even would make fun of the newbies that came into the field thinking they could do finance sober. The long hours, the stress and the culture all really lend itself to drug use.

A minor correction; it wasn't in the garage that Nancy stored Robert's body. Parkview has a separate storage facility for each apartment unit. Residents use it to store large furnitures, appliances and wardrobe. It's reckless to store a body in there bec someone will always go there esp whenever the season is about to change, people would empty out their wardrobes and redecorate their apartments and would visit the storage to take out or store stuff. The smell of decay would certainly draw attention.

@@kinseybruno5920 I'm not saying that everyone that cheats is capable of murder, but I'm sure there is a decent overlap. Why take that risk? Plus the person cheated, why would you stay?

Not going to lie, I thought the murder was going to go the other way. Just makes it extra sad since it seemed like he didn’t do anything egregiously wrong, not that we can know fully what goes on in private behind closed doors. Regardless, those poor kids really got victimized.

As much as I watch this channel I love it but I can't keep up with the coffee intake I'd not need to worry about gas prices I'd run wherever. Quality content and as I've just had 4 laminectomy it keeps me entertained and interested

Is this the origin of that classic song with the lyric "my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard. And they like, drugged better than yars?"

Please cover Andrew Kissel's murder! It is even more bizarre than Robert's murder, and there are so many questions to this day about who really did it. He certainly gave a lot of people reason to want him dead.

Wow what a horrible human being Nancy is. She didn't think of her children at all. I feel so sorry for them. Money will never take that trauma away. I guess at least they don't have to worry about money problems. I hope they are living as happily as possible after all they have been through.

There’s a good book on this case titled _Never Enough._ What I find so weird - and this is really pronounced in the book - is that she was apparently extremely extroverted, narcissistic, and abrasive for her entire adult life, yet from the moment she was arrested, she completely changed her appearance and, apparently, her personality. She looks meek and apparently became a very quiet wallflower, including in her letters to her lover. I can understand “wearing a mask,” but she seemed to undergo a complete personality transformation and then kept it up. The only other murderer I’ve seen who did the same was Celeste Beard, and even she came across as hostile during her trial. Nancy Kissel apparently changed from a lion to a mouse.

Probably just an act so that it matched with her "abused spouse" defence

I was just thinking about this phenomenon the other day. Have you ever watched the show "Snapped"? There are SO many other b!tches who go from some little sexpot in all their pictures to a meek librarian type at their trials that wears glasses, generic ponytails and an ill-fitting suit they'd NEVER be caught dead in otherwise (Sharee Miller, Adele Craven, Adrienne Hickson, etc.)

Hi Adrian thank you for taking my recommendation to cover this story. What’s also interesting is the flat that the murder took place is now considered “haunted” on some Chinese web sites. They never owned as you mentioned they were renters. Nice intro about Hong Kong and lead-up to the case.

POV: you've entered a coffee shop and ordered a milkshake, and the barista goes off on a long tangent about how a milkshake was used to kill someone once. You leave without your milkshake.

Those kids are sadly and most likely going spend a big chunk of those 6 million $ on psychological treatments throughout their lives. I sincerely hope they will be able to go on living a normal, happy life, because no amount of inheritance can make them forget what their mother did to their father!
