To share what a friend told me during my divorce. " You spoiled her. People get bored with what they have and want more. You gave her what she wanted so she asked for more...you gave her everything she asked for and eventually she would ask for more....and eventually you ran out of more"
I don't think money was the drive but 'one-up-man-ship. Robert was competitive in business and won and he was going to win the kids. She'd become marginalized and loose home and place. Cocaine made him sexually abusive and she hated him ... wanted him dead so bad she didn't plan it out very well.
That “mum” ruined their lives. Imagine the last memory of your dad is sharing milkshakes with him, thinking your family is having a rare peaceful moment, and then you find out one of the milkshakes was poisoned by your mum in order to kill your dad.
This is just so shocking to think how a person that could have 50% of a good amount of money and be able to live her life freely, opted for murdering someone instead. It's beyond me. That goes beyond greed in my opinion, it involves deeper emotions, maybe grudge, revenge, a long and deep desire for commiting the murder for a long time... It can't be a simple "i want all his money so I'll k°ll him" it has to be something deeper within that head of hers.
I think it had to be hate, if he was offering her 50 percent and a clean break most sane people would agree to that. The issue of the kids would have been contentious probably but it sounded like she just really wanted to live the life of luxury while hooking up with a side piece. I wonder if she even gave any thought to how it would affect her kids, or if she even cared for that matter. I imagine she never expected her busy hard working husband to catch on, and when he did it ruined the fun and excitement. That turned to spite and hate, where nothing mattered not even the money she just wanted him gone.
I’ll never understand why people😂 just can’t get a divorce. You won’t get money in jail. And what about the kids, damn. Don’t get a gun (or whatever you want to use) get a lawyer. 😊
Unfortunately you would have to understand these types (which to normal ppl are crazy) that would murder for a payday. She is obviously a sociopath devoid of emotion and thought in her ignorant mind she could get away with it
He had her computer tracked, he knew she was cheating. She likely knew a divorce was imminent and cheating on your spouse can certainly have you being the outsider with your kids going to the other parent. I think she knew thats what was coming.
It's just basic greed why should she settle for half of it when she could have all of his assets. Then have absolute control over all her children/their inheritance.
My heart breaks for those children. I've noticed since becoming a mother myself those stories that involve children are even more heartbreaking than before having kids

As someone who lived in HK for years and was on the edges of the high rolling expat community, coke is a huge problem. I had an old roommate who would work insane hours and then go on coke binges with friends that were beyond extreme. Luckily that roommate was not violent. You would just find them curled in a ball of clothes surrounded by bottles of alcohol. With how prevalent it is there, if someone is said to do coke, they very likely do. It is just extremely common.
Even here in the states. I used to know a lot of guys in the financial sector in NY, and they are were pretty much pill poppers, alcoholics and coke users. They obviously were very high functioning, but all had substance abuse problems. They even would make fun of the newbies that came into the field thinking they could do finance sober. The long hours, the stress and the culture all really lend itself to drug use.

It's interesting that the female partner being convicted of abuse only happens if it's murder. Otherwise, it's simply dismissed. "Man up". A minor correction; it wasn't in the garage that Nancy stored Robert's body. Parkview has a separate storage facility for each apartment unit. Residents use it to store large furnitures, appliances and wardrobe. It's reckless to store a body in there bec someone will always go there esp whenever the season is about to change, people would empty out their wardrobes and redecorate their apartments and would visit the storage to take out or store stuff. The smell of decay would certainly draw attention.

There’s a good book on this case titled _Never Enough._ What I find so weird - and this is really pronounced in the book - is that she was apparently extremely extroverted, narcissistic, and abrasive for her entire adult life, yet from the moment she was arrested, she completely changed her appearance and, apparently, her personality. She looks meek and apparently became a very quiet wallflower, including in her letters to her lover. I can understand “wearing a mask,” but she seemed to undergo a complete personality transformation and then kept it up. The only other murderer I’ve seen who did the same was Celeste Beard, and even she came across as hostile during her trial. Nancy Kissel apparently changed from a lion to a mouse.
I was just thinking about this phenomenon the other day. Have you ever watched the show "Snapped"? There are SO many other b!tches who go from some little sexpot in all their pictures to a meek librarian type at their trials that wears glasses, generic ponytails and an ill-fitting suit they'd NEVER be caught dead in otherwise (Sharee Miller, Adele Craven, Adrienne Hickson, etc.)
Hi Adrian thank you for taking my recommendation to cover this story. What’s also interesting is the flat that the murder took place is now considered “haunted” on some Chinese web sites. They never owned as you mentioned they were renters. Nice intro about Hong Kong and lead-up to the case.

I don't think money was the drive but 'one-up-man-ship. Robert was competitive in business and won and he was going to win the kids. She'd become marginalized and loose home and place. Cocaine made him sexually abusive and she hated him ... wanted him dead so bad she didn't plan it out very well.
@@luciaconn6788 She didn’t necessarily want him dead; she wanted to own him, and since she couldn’t, in her eyes him being dead was better

We definitely want Andrew’s story next. I feel so bad for the kids involved in all this. They didn’t deserve this 💔
those kids have enough ptsd for 10 lifetimes, i feel so incredibly bad for them
That “mum” ruined their lives. Imagine the last memory of your dad is sharing milkshakes with him, thinking your family is having a rare peaceful moment, and then you find out one of the milkshakes was poisoned by your mum in order to kill your dad.
Shit I feel bad for the dad mf dead
@@christin9065 They have a lot of money.
Cold bloodied killer and greedy
Weird. I don't have kids but basic empathy makes me think of the kids first too. Funny how that works lol

As someone originally from HK and was living there at the time so I remember this case clearly. I have also watched many UA-camrs’ vids of it but your’s by far the best. The extra information that I learnt and how detailed you did your researches are outstanding! Thank you very much!
My dad was a English language reporter in Hong Kong at the time and he would swear up and down that he was the one who coined the term, The Milkshake Murders
Who would've thought, right? A murder involving milk shake being called milk shake murder!
What an insightful mind he must have!
Not something to brag about. Besides this was A milkshake murder, not murders.

Ugh that sucks.
I don’t believe her story that he did that though. It’s only coming from her. She’s lying to excuse what she did.

It’s a shame something like this happened. It just shows that you never know what people/couples are going through in private and more importantly, money doesn’t buy happiness. It’s terrible that the answer to the private problems came down to murder. I hope Robert’s family is ok now.
Either way, it's tragic 😥
That makes more sense for that type of complex, and does and an interesting ‘public’ element too. Thanks for clarifying. :)

Probably just an act so that it matched with her "abused spouse" defence
I was just thinking about this phenomenon the other day. Have you ever watched the show "Snapped"? There are SO many other b!tches who go from some little sexpot in all their pictures to a meek librarian type at their trials that wears glasses, generic ponytails and an ill-fitting suit they'd NEVER be caught dead in otherwise (Sharee Miller, Adele Craven, Adrienne Hickson, etc.)
