    Netflix has accomplished something very profound with this thought provoking series. It’s more than a simple rom-com. There are several themes woven into this captivating narrative. Story telling is whip smart, and so funny! It delves into the ultimate of challenges in romantic relationships. It pits long held religious beliefs in Judaism, against those of agnostic. These 2 fully formed adults are being challenged by the age old adage that highlights “love will conquer all”. But will it? At the moment, it seems an impossible choice. I would love to see a second season, because the ending leaves the viewer with so many unanswered questions. Maybe that is the writers intention.

    I almost want this to be a stand alone series, like a second season may ruin it. Kinda like Fleabag. No more than 2.

      Fleabag season 2 was fantastic. But agree that this should be a standalone series.

    It’s insane how in 2024 interfaith relationships are still taboo- but I suppose if you’re the head rabbi you can’t be a Christmukkah household 🤦‍♀️

    She should’ve converted for him. Adding something to your life is easier than giving up something that is your entire life (his career rooted in his faith). Why did he have to make the sacrifice? 😅

    • @viktoriiakhailova5406
      @viktoriiakhailova5406 5 днів тому +28

      I don't see it like he made a sacrifice tbh. He had to choose, cuz she's right - he can't have both. What did he expect when he started dating her? She did a lot of sacrifices for him, too, actually. Like was trying to change herself to be likeable to his friends and family, was willing to miss an important business meeting, etc. And yes she grew as a person by being with him, but still she tried to accommodate to be suitable for his life. And she would convert for him but it's a serious life change, one shouldn't do it for others just for themselves but initially she was ready to do this for him, not for herself.
      He was the one who needed to choose. Cuz it was him who tried to hide her from the main rabbi, who tried to convert her so that he could pursue that main rabbi role and still be with her. He wanted to have both, she didn't.
      But I am glad it worked out for them (as of now) cuz they really elevated each other.

      @@viktoriiakhailova5406 fair points, but also same can be said for her. She knew going in that it would be problematic for him. But it’s ok for her to have both? She didn’t want to give up her potentially unreliable career either. If she converted she couldn’t do the podcast. So she got to have her cake.
