I was watching this just figuring this was another one of those info channels with at least 100K+ or so subscribers based on the quality of the video. I didn’t even realize how underrated this is until I read the comments. Glad to see that came up first when I searched for “problems with underwater cities”
Having lived and worked in/from several undersea habitats I can say that I would move into an undersea colony without a second thought. The video is right about one thing. It is expensive to build and place such a facility. However, it costs only a fraction of what Space Exploration costs. What we need is an Elon Musk type person who would take interest in ocean exploration and colonization.
I imagine someday we could see an underwater city. It could kind of like a huge shopping mall perhaps. You got levels that function like apartments/homes. Then you have a level that functions like the economy where the stores are and then a level where there can be gainful employment perhaps. The thing that I could see happening is there will be no cars sort of. Just elevators and trams and mostly foot traffic. Perhaps at the surface could function as a place to do some outdoor recreational activities within reason. I could like maybe a huge swimming pool that sort of functions like a beach out in the middle of the ocean, or some kind of park with playgrounds and park benches and picnic tables. Perhaps not a golf course but maybe a driving range with a huge net to collect golf balls and prevent them from getting into the ocean. I'm just kind of brainstorming a bit.
Now there will be a city where the artist would not fear the sensor, where the scientist would not be bound by pity morality, where the Great will not be constrained by the small called rapture, only if it is or was possible in the future.
This will be absolutely necessary if we plan to build settlements on water worlds like Jupiter's moon of Europa, which is believed to have a liquid ocean under the ice.
there is no limit to what people can achieve, underwater skyscrapers, Oceanic cities, pretty soon we will have space city plans aswell and maybe spacescrapers xDD.
Although I am equally fascinated by space and underwater exploration, if I could choose to live between a city on Mars/Moon or a floating city semi-submerged in the ocean, I would choose to live in the city in the ocean.
Just imagine one of these big species that are known/unknown to humans… swimming through an underwater city, tearing things up. We really don’t know, what’s down there…
If we ever did live underwater, there’s no way that glass or even any plastics can hold on in the density of the water down deep, so most of out buildings would probably be made closer to the shores for easy access to land and possible building product harvesting(iron, titanium, copper, etc), with glass or hard plastic for windows not far down, buildings would be built up like skyscrapers as the waters density keeps them upright and more steady than in air,
Yes I would love to live until a underwater city. Ever since grade school of 20,000 lease underneath the sea it's possible. Just like in space it would have its problems under the water will have this problems but we can conquer all.
Yes! I've always thought this idea was super fascinating, and it should be explored! Why should over 70% of the planet remain unknown!! I also remember when I was in school in a science class they were talking about this very thing, that humans would someday be able to live underwater and everyone loved the idea.... except ONE girl who was scared of water, she wouldn't budge from her position on it LOL
Cousteau never gets enough credit. I used to watch his TV show when I was a kid back in Philly. Norwadays you see Cardi B and her WAP.... Poor America.
Just so you know Armageddon made 558 million dollars in 1998 and was the highest grossing film of that year. Bruce Willis got paid 14.8 million dollars for his role. Armageddon did not derail his career in any way whatsoever.
In my fictional world, there have a lot of underwater city but all of factors why people live in underwater city in this video never happened. Lands is still okay
This idea is much better than colonize on space... While the time of dinosaur extinction only few animals survived, but many fishes survived... And also this is very easy than colonize on mars
We now build a city where the artist would not fear the sensor, where the Great will not be constrained by the small, where the scientist would not be bound by pity morality that city we now choose to build underwater is rapture.
Living underwater is basicly going back to where we came from isn't it though. I bet down there you can easily survive all kinds of disasters like comets, supervulcano's and solar flames. Not to mention a great flood 😅
IT CAN HAPPEN. i love the idea living in the depth of sea. let me tell you, living a DECENT life in the deep sea cities could happen sooner than any kind of colony of mars. as for spaces inside the residential places underwater, deep sea compartment could be as big as a house. its all about engineering. simple engineering could make a large space compartment that could even withstand pressure under 1 km below the surface. and the modules could sits on flexible anchor/pillars that would withstand the most powerful underwater earthquakes and tsunami wave. deep sea cities endeavor is NOT a pipedream. IT IS VERY VERY DOABLE. as soon as possible even.

wouldn't mind an underground bunker. in a nuclear war we will be glad we have underwater bunkers. plenty of food supply, and i'm sure we can find a way to vent oxygen through a filter that sits on surface of the ocean like in Subnautica.
Me want to make big underwater habits, focus need for air manage. Much more small problems but humans can do it, but humans no interest in topic. Humans treat it like bad taste medicine, we need it but want better. When habits are made, people will change. Most indubitably.
As awesome as this would be i feel that we need to leave underwater city ideas alone as habitat down there is one of the few places left that isn’t plagued by humans besides pollution in water. We already span most of the surface world do we need more.
Sorry dude, but it's a common myth that anyone was ever executed for claiming that the Earth was a sphere, in spite of what lies you may have learned in grade school to the contrary. From the very first time the shape of the earth was questioned, the answer had been known and for about 3000 some odd years, the Earth was a sphere, and they even knew about how big it was with surprising accuracy. Columbus didn't sail to prove it round, he did it to find the western route to the very lucrative spice trades of the subcontinent and China.
Would you like to live in an underwater city and why? Write in the comments. 🚀 Click thumb up if you liked our video. Thank you!
I would. I'm pretty sure we know how to make fake gills for us but they would weight too much
Yes! It’ll be cool!

It maybe a option instead of a bunker
Remember me when this channel is famous.
Also this is an awesome video, keep it up!
Thanks! Will do!

I absolutely LOVE the idea of underwater cities and underwater infrastructure.
This channel is really promising keep it up
Glad you enjoy it!
This has got to be a second or third channel. Whoever this is, isn't new to UA-cam.
@@BrainFrame How much did you pay for these comments?
14:00 I cant even imagine why someone would slow the progress of technological growth but I think that's true.

“The Ocean has an unlimited amount of water”
Me: you can’t drink that water
Captain Fuzz of course but there are ways to extract the salt from the water.
You cab filter it
It's called boiling and other ways if water filtration. It's not that hard
@@ZainAhmed-ns2di even middle school students can do it 😂
@@gummy5795 actually, it is harder said than done. Cleaning ocean water is not possible with just boiling, it takes great effort and money
I know many people said this already, but this is indeed an underrated channel. Keep it up! Commenting for the algorithm!

Can we drink water underwater
Yes 😂

Titanium, copper and iron as a building material, What the fuck are you smoking.
I'm sure we will eventually be able to somehow temper that glass to a ridiculous level. Im sure we would be able to something about it
New Glass technology might come out maybe
You deserve more subs man
Actually, there already is an underwater city.

From the bioshock games?
Y’all really tryna make DC Atlantis. 😂
This is cool
In my fictional world, all of this project in this video are already finished and successful
underwater world is a future i bet on it
Can we? Probably given enough resource investment. Should we? Not unless we have to.
No, there are so many downsides the maintinance alone will be more than enough of a reason to never do it. Going to the moon would be easier.
The square foot cost in space would be tremendous more expensive than under the sea.

Jimi Hendrix vision of returning to live in the sea
"1983, a Merman I Shall Turn To Be "
Hooray, I awake from yesterday
Alive but the war is here to stay
So my love, Katherina and me
Decide to take our last walk
Through the noise to the sea
Not to die but to be reborn
Away from a life so battered and torn
Forever
Oh, say can you see, it's really such a mess
Every inch of earth is a fighting nest
Giant pencil and lipstick tube-shaped things
Continue to rain and cause screaming pain
And the Arctic stains
From silver blue to bloody red
As our feet find the sand and the sea
Is straight ahead,
Straight up ahead
Well, it's too bad,
That our friends
Can't be with us today
Well, that's too bad
"The machine that we built would never save us"
That's what they say
(That's why they ain't coming with us today)
And they also said
"It's impossible
for man to live and breathe underwater forever"
Was their main complaint
(Yeah)
And they also threw this in my face, they said:
"Anyway, you know good and well
It would be beyond the will of God
And the grace of the King"
Grace of the King, yeah, yeah
So my darling and I
Make love in the sand
To salute the last moment
Ever on dry land
Our machine has done its work,
Played its part well
Without a scratch on our bodies
And we bid it farewell
Starfish and giant foams greet us with a smile
Before our heads go under, we take a last look
At the killing noise
Of the out of style
The out of style,
Out of style
So down and down and down and down and down we go
Hurry, my darling, we mustn't be late for the show
Neptune champion games
To an aqua world of serenity
Right this way, smiles a mermaid
I can hear Atlantis full of cheer
Atlantis full of cheer
I can hear Atlantis full of cheer
Great video by the way but sorry about my attitude I just don't like water and I just don't like even thinking about living underwater
The people and animals of the world need houses and buildings under and above water to survive all the things in the world everyone should know this.
It could be possible. There will be a lot of pressure on air you’re ears will pop and it’s hard to get communication towers.
Idk about cities, but under water facilities do already exist.
wouldn't mind an underground bunker. in a nuclear war we will be glad we have underwater bunkers. plenty of food supply, and i'm sure we can find a way to vent oxygen through a filter that sits on surface of the ocean like in Subnautica.
Time to protect those little sisters from adam crazed splicers
I can't wait to live under the sea in the future. I hope this happens in 2050
This is so naive, but it's OK to dream, imagine and be creative; someday we'll get it right
I would love to leave underwater but I would rather leave in space for my life cos clocks go slow in space
None of that made sense in multiple ways
Your grammar is just atrocious
And also clocks don’t go slower in space
And even if they did you would still age the same.
What's harder... to colonize 100 square miles of the ocean or to colonize 1 square mile of Mars?
Are u here because u’re getting bored of living on land?
I wanna move there tooo
Yes
I chose....rapture
Living on cloud cuckoo land or in this case cloud cuckoo sea

As awesome as this would be i feel that we need to leave underwater city ideas alone as habitat down there is one of the few places left that isn’t plagued by humans besides pollution in water. We already span most of the surface world do we need more.
Agree so much. I’d love the idea but it’s the only place that isn’t touched by humans
Such a hard decision indeed but it can be like bio shock though like just buildings there nothing more it doesn’t hurt the environment right?
