finally someone who plays the main(&verse) riff correctly...in literally every cover I've seen before they go from the 7/5 dyad down to 6/4 (and 9/7 to 8/6) and it sounds so off that I can't understand how they wouldn't notice the mistake. No matter how talented they are and how they're able to play it flawlessly, but this is imo easily the sickest riff of the song (and album) so it ruins the whole cover for me. Just for clarification, the correct way like he plays it the finger on the lower string remains and only the higher string goes half a step down so from 7/5 to 7/4 (and 9/7 to 9/6). Also it's interesting to see you play a power chord with index and pinky finger (same riff, but all the other notes than what I previously talked about)...is that a style thing or is it easier for you that way? I personally play the low chords as full power chords (so for example 3/5/5 where you play 3/5) but even when play 2-note powerchords I've never not used my ring finger for the 2nd string...well sometimes but only when I use my middle finger for the root note and I only do that to free up my index finger for when the next chord is a dyad (like going from 5/7 to 5/4 or 5/3). But anyway, great cover...best I've seen in fact
Thanks a lot for this comment and your kind words! About the pinky power chord thing - I get this question a lot and to be honest, I have no clue where this comes from. I do know that I didnt do this all my life - in the beginning I did full power chords, just like you mentioned, then just switched to 2 fingers and then to pinky. And now I am stuck with that. Maybe it was just a way to try to use it more often, since I am 100% self taught and probably teached myself to play the guitar the most inefficient way, so in the beginning there was no use of my pinky all. And about the song - I did learn almost all covers on my channel by ear, so there might be some parts that arent 100% correct. But still, this song is fun to play. Its such a masterpiece, even after 30 (!!!) years.
@@theDOOMSLAYER6666 If it doesn't make it harder then there's no problem with how you're doing it, it's the goal that matters and playing The Somberlane cleanly is a good milestone to say your inefficient ways were successfull... Trying to use your pinky more was actually my first guess aswell...been there too (inefficiently self-taught all the way). But now that I thought about it there could even be an advantage to it...when tremolo picking two strings you can mute the 3rd string with both middle and ring finger which prevents you accidentally playing a harmonic if you accidentally hit the 3rd string. Doesn't happen often at all and only in very specific cases but often enough that I noticed it and pay attention to it (especially with a 11/13 powerchord because the harmonic on the 12th fret comes out so easily)...also you're doing the horns while playing power chords, it hardly gets more metal than that (that was my 2nd guess as to why lol)
Jon was a genius
Man!... this is like pure sin injected into my soul! Dissection is the epitome of metal.
So dark and cold, alluring, mystical and powerful.
You look like a Set Teitan ;)

Oh I think that's Set, but you're doing amazing bro 🔥🔥
Set Teitan is italian and he was born in a village not so far from the place where I'm leaving.
is it C standard tunnning?
No its something slightly above E Standard. A bit weird.

What's going on at 5:28 ? Picture and sound doesn't fit at all 🤔
Что то не так с попаданием в ритм, друг
Jon does not play this way. You are choosing the easier path without having to string skip.
It's ok, just practice the string skip. You'll have it down in no time. Jon deserves at least that.
Ok
christ never thought id see someone bitch how someone else plays somethin lmao
