I like that Keenan shows him coaching all levels through drilling the position at the end of the video. When I'm drilling at home it makes me super aware of what technical mistakes me and my partner might be prone to making.
This is something most people don't do, showing the students trying to learn it after you teach it. That's super helpful for me as a coach because it helps me see what the common mistakes are.
"Get in my closed guard, bro!" Good vid - today's practitioners are just getting better, quicker. As such, they realize that being in closed guard on top isn't the greatest thing for them, so they deny the position more adamantly and intelligently. As such, instructional material such as this is relevant and useful. Oss.
I went online searching for this, because it’s never taught, and I spend so much time trying to get a guard pull against an opponent on his knees. Of course Keenan has it amazing
Use the post to get under-hook. Break their posture now you have an over under grip in closed guard. Shuck their arm passed your head on the underhook side. Your head should end up outside their arm. When you do that Just shuffle a bit, don't let go of your gable grip. Now you can arm-triangle or climb onto their back. If you can't finish arm-triangle there, which happens, insert butterfly hook and sweep. Finish it on top. Another option is to kimura that posted arm. Opens the old kimura, hip-bump, guillotine combo. You can also overhook it and work off that. A failed pendulum is a good way to force opponent to post arm.
Since we already know that the Berimbolo doesn't work - and we are never being swept with it because you taught us how to keep balance - please show how to effectively counter it.
You should take a trip to Keenan’s gym and give it a try. Jiu Jitsu isn’t just one move. All techniques have small windows of opportunity for counters and counters to counters.
That's not the point. But it would be great to get people like Dante Leon or Levi to do courses since there is little material (and poor visual quality) of them.
Nobody trains the opposition moves, how do you expect you lower belts to offer intelligent live resistance if they don't know what their goal is as the resistance player... granted cutting the knee to pass guard is pretty basic but if you show the timing attack (to defeat the defense, when knees are open) than you give your students the mentality that they should be punishing poor technique with failure. It's almost like you have to give them permission to offer active resistance or else everyone just kinda half-way offers some passive resistance with a little motion to make it look good, but you can feel it, and idk but I've learned to see it too... surely instructors know this too, and can also see it in their class... they just don't consciously address it. I don't understand why. Perhaps someone can enlighten me.
Why you have a hard time showing the respect for the Brazilians for having created the jiu jitsu you love so much and changed your life? Why not call it BJJ? It ain't the japanese version that is for sure. So it is the Brazilian version. Credit where credit is due. Or am I wrong? I your defense, what you do is more like Sport BJJ anyways.

Dude you’re a really good teacher.

These instructionals that also show pointers for class are brilliant. Thanks
Awedome, thx Keenan. Would love to see a video on the mindset and some good positional concepts on dealing with a bigger and stronger wrestler type.
Show us your hip locks! Nobody does them anymore and I think there is so much unusual and awesome jits in those techs!
You mean like banana splits
Literally just learned that hip locks even existed the other day randomly
Rudson Matheus liked this
Thanks Keenan, I can use this!
Thanks for the Video, Keenan! Love it! I would love to see some of your favorite chokes from closed - cross-collar/ezekiel, etc.

Cannot you just omoplata sweep from the first situation?
Can you show the best closed guard attacks and how come I always end up my legs fatigue after closed guard
as soon as those knees come together I’d go for the double under smash pass
You’re a scientist
Intro ends at 1:32
solid blue belt
Fan from tahiti
The ol scissor guard
3:11 knee slice counter
Try this on Gordon next time
Who's bust is in the video?
donald trump
For once you agree with master rickson 😂
When you got the gubber guard, but lost (or didn't get) the overhook. Let's assume that they are still anchoring their elbow, so armdrag is not easy.
Do you have any takes on the Reverse Kimura from closed guard?
I hope this works I'm trying it tomorrow!

I think this leaves you wide open for the rugby pass.

Yeah I was wondering if anyone else had noticed
lay a trap getting fat same thing 😂😂
Loving this material Keenan, would you recommend any specific grips to attempt this in no-gi?
collar tie from a seated guard and a tricep hook may work..
Passing squid guard. :) 🦑 🥋
Gostei 👍👍👍
Mermaid guard
Cheew!!!

All my homies hate the closed guard
Comment on the Gordon vs Andre fiasco. WE LOVE DRAMA.
American closed guard entry :)
just put them in the camel clutch instead
