My advice about visiting the Grand Canyon is to be a part of that 5% who travel below that rim whether it’s hiking below the rim, taking a mule ride below the rim, or rafting down the Colorado River. It’s truly awe inspiring to see that beautiful canyon from below the rim. Just be aware of the hazards involved in traveling below the rim, especially with hiking below the rim.

On a Christmas vacation, more than 25 years ago, using money gifted by my Grandmother, I journeyed with my two your children to the Grand Canyon. It was spectacular, and had snow and some dry spots of land as could see the entire span of the Canyon from the small plane we hired. While my daughter was a bit more frightened by the aerial experience, she warmed up to it before we returned to land. This while my son took it all in with few words. Awe is a powerful emotion and this was exactly what the three of us felt on that day. I have returned to the Canyon several times and each time it appears differently, while it seems so solid, as the slow aging process of the stone walls continues to slowly evolve in a manner unchanged for thousands of years. What a gift to behold!
