Always interesting to see what a proven experienced backpacker has in the pack. I've seen (for amusement purposes) just-done-west-highland-way-first-hike types making videos pretending they know best and this is what to take. What you have in your pack is essential to you so who cares what anybody else deems essential or luxury? Keep walking all the best🍻😎
Hi Alan ! 😃 Top quality gear ! Everything is very well thought out. As you noticed, some items are not essentials but it's your choice and you carry it easily even on a long distance hike like the GR5. The main point to save weight when you go outside : to train enough to be easy on the path. Even if my bag was lighter than yours this summer, you were walking faster than I did ! You were very fit, much more than me. The extra weight I had to carry was on me 🥵. Thanks for this " retour d'expérience" from a fast hiker... 😃 !
Thank you my friend. Looking forward to walking with you again when possible. I think I might have been converted to your very neat ultralight spirit stove system! 😊
Hi there, interesting and thorough. Thank you. A few handy tips if I'm still fit enough for hiking next year. We do have the same tent which I've been happy with for 2 years. I've done a few weeks on the GR10 but feel its too hot for me and my legs probably couldn't manage it either these days. Merry Christmas to you. 👍🍻🙏
Fantastic review Alan, very helpful information.

UPDATE ON CAMERA WEIGHT: The camera weights are wrong! I weighed my Sony RX100 Mk1 thinking it was the MkVI. It's actually 309g for the Mk VI

Thank you. Hope you can get in enough practice to go. Merry Xmas.
Hi Alan. What model are your Montane zip rain trousers? Also, do you have a link to that titanium chair. Everything I see is over 220grams, not 160.
They are the Goretex paclite version, full zip.
