Beautiful! The 68-69 Torino 2 Dr hardtop is one of Fords best looking models. The 428 Cobra Jet puts it over the top. Well done tribute to your dad David.

This is the car I wanted my Dad to buy when he was shopping in 1968! I was 10 and loved Torinos. He ended up buying a 1968 Galaxie 500XL Candy Apple Red w/black vinyl top. He loved that car, but my older sister totaled it soon after purchase....he replaced it with a used 1966 Olds 98 Coupe for my mom. He never recovered...

Super nice car, and right up my alley. Kevin, let me throw you a related oddball that's in my horde. This car was special ordered by a guy that used to live in my old area in SoCal, and still has the original black-and-yellow plates. I bought it from the family about 4 years ago. It is a 1968 Torino 4-door sedan, not Fairlane and not GT. It is, in fact, factory black with a red interior. The twist is that it was speced out with the S-code 390 "GT" engine, and not the more typical Y or Z code 390. I have never seen another 4-door with one, and some people say it shouldn't have been available in that car. But, we all know "should've" doesn't mean squat in this hobby. I haven't pulled a Marti on it yet. In the 80's they swapped in a built 428CJ engine and a MVB C6 trans, and that's how it sits presently. As usual, glad to see this channel in gear again!

Thanks for the note, that's a pretty cool car you've got there! So it's essentially a 4-door twin to this one with the currently installed 428 and black and red scheme. I'd get that Marti report to see what the deal was on the S-code 390. Is it in decent shape? Appreciate the note, keep us posted!

It is straight as an arrow with the original single stage black paint (indoor car), never hit or dinged, with all the Carlite glass intact. Worst damage is bumpers have surface rust. Factory-style CJ scoop added. It runs. Now for the negative twist, as far as collectibility. When the 428 swap was done, Chassis Engineering the in the SFV back halved the car, and did a really nice job of it. There is an 8-point cage that's NHRA legal to 10.00 ET. Tucked under the quarters are Mickey Thompson Sportsmans at 19x33 size! Rear seat long gone, but the factory bench is still there, as well as all the '68-specific wood grain Torino-level appointments throughout, including the steering wheel. All rolling on period Centerlines with front skinnies. The family had a slew of NHRA Stocker CJ cars and this was their street putt-putt. Go figure.
So, will it ever be in a show as an rare original? I guess not. I have a base trim 428CJ Q-code '69 Montego coupe for that, was a legal Stock Eliminator in the old days and restored to showroom by the previous owner, who also has a current Stock Eliminator CJ '69 Torino. I have 5 other factory 428's. Only no Mustangs. Yet? @@MuscleCarOfTheWeek

My alltime favorite is ‘72 just because of the looks… I don’t know it’s just me…but the 68 has that something…

My best friend had a 68 Torino GT 390, formal roof then a red 69 Torino Cobra fb 428 CJ. MUCH later I had a 69 Cougar XR7 Convertible 428 CJ...the white one featured here!
