i absolutely love how ianto went from punching jack, to asking him to be kissed 'just this once', to literally being madly in love with him. enemies to lovers excellence
This is the story that Ianto and Jack really needed. Not just cause of the start of their relationship, also because this deals with how Ianto has been affected by the events of Cyberwoman and Countrycide, definitely Gareth David Lloyd's finest performance
Sometimes I really get mad at RTD, as moments like this really should have been shown on screen. I swear he actually underestimated the original characters as Torchwood is built (for me) on Jack, Ianto, Owen, Tosh and Gwen in the Hub in Cardiff. Jack is a good character, but I don't think Torchwood works with just him and Gwen is a character that grates on me at times. (Also: No offence I love Rhys and Andy but they aren't Torchwood, not really). And the Hub was a fab setting, my personal favourite scene is the basketball scene in Cyberwoman as the team (minus Ianto, bless him) are interacting and I love the way the Hub is shot as we get a feel for its large size.
I feel like everyone just hates Gwen. I think she's so annoying and she clearly can't decide between Rhys and Jack. Yes, she stays with Rhys but she clearly still wants Jack. I find her a very unsympathetical and bad written character...
This is great, it totally needed to be an episode! and they really need to make more of these gap filling audio episodes, but i really dont understand why Ianto made the decision to want Jack to kiss him? It just seems like an odd and sudden turn after everything. What about the fact that he's never even dated a man before, you'd think he'd hesitate a bit before jumping into bed with one. I'm kinda interested to know why he made that decision and how he felt about it? And why Jack said yes? I really love this couple but it's so hard to get a sense of them since we saw so little of their personal story! seems unfair we got to see so much of Gwen's.
So, I’ve been thinking about this for ten years and here’s what I’ve come up with 😂 We know there was always an attraction there, when they first met they ended up laid on top of each other. But ianto still had lisa so did nothing about it. In this moment, Ianto has been so lonely and he needed to be touched while also being distracted. He was attracted to jack, and jack was attracted to him, so ianto was basically asking for a brief distraction from his loneliness, a chance to connect. But they couldn’t stop. They connected and then couldn’t stop connecting, until finally they fell in love.
justateenagefangirl no, Gareth and John didn’t record this together due to scheduling. Also kissing sound effects on audio just come from the actors making out with their hands anyways
Gareth and John have kissed many times at Cons, so I like to think that if they were in the same room, the kissing would have been real and would have sounded a jillion times better.
This story really needed to just be an episode in the show. I cannot understand the decision to skip from Ianto viewing Jack as a monster and wanting to watch him die to having casual sex with him. It comes so out of nowhere in the show, but this one story makes it work really well.
No matter here (which is not the cas in other parts of audio Torchwood) if there is no video, the charm of this sequence is in the voices and what they carry, and the contrast between both voices : the softness of Ianto's voice and the Jack's very clear and decided one. his laugh (ho ho) before observing about "relationships at work". BUT : BUT my problem with Torchwood audio is :: you are like earing a dubbling and you know that thie actors are just in front of a microphone and not "in situation". And so, what do work with voices does not work for everything. In this extract for example, the sound of the kiss makes me laugh a lot, instead of bringing me emotion : you kiss your hand, or a baby's body, or kiss hello or goodbye to someone in the phone, and you'll get the same sound. Yet we may think that the kiss, here, is not that kind of "family kiss". I would have prefered no sound at all, instead of this misinterpretation. Things like this, artificial and making that it sounds "not true", are the reason why I won't buy Torchwood audio. So for me it is the end of discovering Torchwood, since it's quasi sure now that there will never be a TV continuation. Yet it would be interesting to get an older Captain Jack Harkness, since we know that yes he is immortal but his body continues to get older. That fits with John Barrowman, no ?
I love how offended he gets over the coffee and how concerned Jack gets when he says to stop the car.

rookie mistake 😌 xD
And all of that just because Ianto forgot to say “no homo” after 😪

ThatCrazyCat1609 Andy is pretty much Torchwood now after everything Norton Folgate has put him through. And the fact he's dating Yvonne Hartman now
@@ThatCrazyCat1609 my favourite part about torchwood is how well the team get on and the adventures they have together
(narrator voice) it was not just that once
Do not diss the coffee!
TheLilyVorfeed like 11 said to Rory in Vampires of Venice
Oh don’t diss the sonic
Ok but now I‘m just imagining them in the booth making kissing noises and it‘s killing me lmao
John said they actually kiss when they record kisses in the audio dramas
“Just this once”
Literally falls in love with each other
I have watched this like ten times now and I will probably be obsessed with this for a while
I will never be normal about Jack and Ianto
Ianto’s theme gets me every single time. Had his theme been established in the first season, his death would’ve somehow been more impactful
As much as we do stan Janto, kissing noises make me die
That was the worst kissing performance ever! I mean I would prefer John's noise of kiss from the story about kissing James
Big finish does tend to suck at kiss noises, not the first story I've noticed where they sound very wierd.

I love listening to this. Whenever I hear the start of the Ballad of Ianto Jones in this kills me.
Beautiful! Great performance of John and Gareth. Definitely, more stories together for the best couple of Torchwood.
Whoever wrote that music should have won an award or something, I hear it and I go *owwww*
Okay why exactly wasn't that in an episode? Whoever decided that I just wanna talk
"I just wanna talk" has never sounded scarier in my ears😨😄
"Kiss me. You could kiss me, if you wanted to." 😢😭😢😭
Not me literally giggling and kicking my feet 😭
let me tell you if I had the time or patience I’d put all of it into animating this scene,,,
Fletchfang i would love to see it if you do!
Same but I don't have the money.
if i had better drawing skills i would 💀
This is-- I feel violated-- and yet its beautiful
I've binged this story so many times I know all the words, and it still makes me choke up and shed a tear.
I❤️Janto
that beautiful version of Ianto's theme is just amazing and needs its own soundtrack (yes i know the ballad of ianto jones exists)
Crying this is beautiful.
I love my boys so much!!

Wait who's top and who's bottom?
MysticMiner we’ll probably never know
Knowing Jack? Yes...all of the above...he likely made attempts to be both simultaneously 😂
They even said after being asked that theyd be both.
my guess it's whoever moves first. they're both switches so theyre basically a "coin flip" dynamic in that sense. just whichever whenever, yknow?
they are both switches but ianto bottoms more
