Yes! I beg everyone to listen along with the clips from the movie! Can you link the clip above? I’m having problems linking from my phone- ☹️ I’d love for him to hear “Jive Talkin” and see a clip/clips of John Travolta dancing!
We sure did, great disco/dance songs from mid 70s (remember the Ritchie family, I think they were the first disco dance groups that I remember) to the 80s. I was born in 1960, so in the mid 70s & the 80s for me and the music, it was a great time to come of age.
This was from The Bee Gees soundtrack to the 1977 movie “Saturday Night Fever”. The album has sold over 40 million copies! You should watch the movie, John Travolta, and all the Bee Gee songs. You can watch the dancing scenes, with the music, on UA-cam.
When this went to number one they had the number one selling album of all time (Saturday Night Fever) and they were the biggest selling act in the world. And for the disco detractors, the music still lives on decades later. Enough said!
The documentary, while it has the burden of defending the Bee Gees' legacy, is also correct that what killed disco wasn't top of the line stuff like SNF, but things like Disco Duck and Madison Avenue using disco to sell shampoo.
There is a specific dance that goes with this song that everybody on the club would dance all together. There really isn't words to describe the togetherness, friendship, laughter, happiness and romance of those wonderful nights! 💃💋🎶🎵🎼
Saturday Night Fever caused a little bit of a scandal. It was one of the first movies if not THE first movie that showed interracial dancing. Cause a little Ruckus back then.
Oh my gosh you threw me back to my childhood, skating to the bee gees was the ultimate experience, it was like you were in another world! Thank you for taking me back 🙏❤
DISCO!!! That was my jam in the 70's!!! You would have loved it!! You have only scratched the surface with the Bee Gees!!! So glad you like them!! Stay safe!!
Having grown up in the 70s, the Bee Gees were VERY MUCH part of the soundtrack of my youth. I wasn't a disco fan, but the Bee Gees were the cool part of disco. EDIT: I've been checking out your other Bee Gees reactions. Nice to see that you have a real appreciation for how truly talented they were. You need to check out some of their late 60s/early 70s pre-disco era songs. Words is one of my favorite songs of all time. Also How Can You Mend A Broken Heart and To Love Somebody are terrific songs too.
If for some crazy reason I could only listen to one group for the rest of my life, it would be The Bee Gees. They're music is simply the best, in my opinion. I NEVER tire of listening to them. Would LOVE it if you would consider playing their 'Immortality,' with Celine Dion. Here's a link: ua-cam.com/video/bZolfKgW5Is/v-deo.html. LOVED your reaction to Night Fever. You said we were so lucky to have been able to hear they're music when it first came out. We were, indeed.
😊 My next door neighbor is a SUPER FAN! Her dog is named BG, one of their concerts is on full rotation via DVD each time I've been in her living rm, & u can hear her drive up 1/2 a block away b/c of her Bee Gees CD🎵 played at sonic level at all times in her car!😳But hey, she's sweet & it could be so much worse~😂. I love "J..J..Ju..Jive Talkin" ( which isn't on this soundtrack~ 🤔I don't think).
Ken Perk This is a defining Disco song. Orchestral backing, traditional Disco drum beat and mixing, guitar wah, and even a jonty keyboard tucked in the back. This is pure Disco!
I was born in 1950 when the Beatles first started in 1964 I was the biggest fan. Than came the BeeGees the Beatles were long forgotten. I’m 70 years old now I listen to them still every day.
You'll enjoy this one, fer sure! I remember those disco balls and lights! John Travolta dancin' to the beats with Beegees soundtrack for Saturday Night Fever! Grammy 1977
If there’s one song that conjures up a strong nostalgic reaction in me, it’s this one. Takes me straight back to the late 70s. Music is really so powerful.
You would have loved the 70's. Good clean, good to dance to, skating rink music. It was just the best time ever. So many great songs came from the 70's. I don't listen to today's music at all. I put oldies on my car stereo and that's all I listen to. Great times.
Bee Gees will never disappoint ! I'm old and their songs make me want to dance again, and again, and again.... This is Music! Simple and magnificent, timeless! ❤️
I'm 58 years old and am so thankful I grew up at the time I did. 60's, 70's, and 80's music was all that and a bag of chips. The whole 70's era was great in so many ways.
Sweet heaven! The Bee Gees were huge at the clubs. A group of us went to a different disco dance club 5 nights a week back in the 70's. Women were all in beautiful dresses and heels. Men all wore their best 3 piece suits. Danced until closing time. All disco music and clubs went down when the media destroyed disco. Too bad - lots of fun. Thank you for bringing back good memories. †
I am so thankful I lived through the 70's (even though I was very young). I think some of the best music came out of that era. Loved this reaction Jayvee! Hugs xo
We were so blessed to live in the 70’s! Some of the best music that was ever written! I LOVE your reaction!!!! PLEASE do “More than a woman” by the Bee Gee’s it’s amazing!!!!!
If you like disco, then you outta check out the queen herself, Donna Summer. She had so many hits. "On The Radio", "Hot Stuff", "I feel Love", "Bad Girls", "Dim All the lights" etc etc.
"Saturday Night Fever" first R rated film I ever saw....was dancing next to the car at the drive in....people obviously thought I was crazy.....who cares lol
I have a huge poster of the beegees over my bed and i have a lot of their cds. I even have a picture of their younger brother Andy Gibb who was also a singer thanks to the beegees. Big bro help. Love them to death even tho im 14
We had the best times ever; who remembers every Saturday Night going out to the Disco Teck and dancing till 2-3 in the morning; give anything to relive this all over again. And, we where so was much happier and carefree than young people now; was the best times; ‘70s. We’re where blessed. In Germany-where I was born, the Disco-Tecks where open -week days till 5am, on weekends there where open 24 hours. All I remember-lots of friends, dancing and eating all night.
Love your reaction. I listen to the Bee Gee’s everyday. I heard an interview and Robin said he NEVER seen the movie. He was extremely busy in those days. I absolutely love Robin Gibb. RIP
A real floor filler! Taken from the film of the same name, the soundtrack was a best seller. The BeeGees were more or less the face of Disco in the UK and couldn’t put a foot wrong in the 70’s. Great memories of dancing around your handbags with your mates at clubs called the Lacy Lady or Cinderella‘s. You’re right J, they don’t make them like this anymore!🥂
I'm in my mid-60s now but whenever I listen to the BeeGees, I'm transported back to a whole other time, when I was young and free, and going to discos and travelling the world. These guys were out-of-this-world, from another planet... and their music lives on forever ❤❤❤
The BEE GEES ruled the charts in the late 70's. Top 10's, No. 1's, mega album sales, produced and wrote for many other artist. Everything they touched was Gold and Platinum.
JayVee you have to see the movie Saturday Night Fever! Plenty of Bee Gees disco tunes and other disco, this is the consummate film of 70's disco and it's a great coming of age story as well. Why not react to watching this film...or watch it and give us a review!

This was my teenage years! You either loved or hated It! I loved every minute! Thank you for bringing back so many wonderful memories! Peace, love, and Disco!✌❤
I absolutely love the BeeGees--grew up with them and I am loving watching you experience them for the first time! You are supposed to be dancing to this!
This is one of the best songs to dance to, obviously. You're right - you can't NOT move to this song. The whole Saturday Night Fever album is one of the top selling albums of all time and understandably. Good movie, too. John Travolta was nominated for an Oscar.
Luv the Bee Gees! Emotion you'd absolutely luv! Try Alone & Closer then Close 😉! Iuv watching ur reaction and comments! Ur an amazing soul who's going to bring back romance!
You're right about that, it was really a fun time thanks to the Bee Gees. It was such an exhilarating time to be growing up, so exciting. Men would more masculine back then, Saturday Night Fever tells the truth of teenagers at the time, for real.

Saturday Night Fever from what I can remember was pivotal in the club scene. Prior to that film the only people that would be dancing would be groups girls with all the guys standing around drinking with their mates chatting all night. After Saturday Night Fever came out the guys got on the dance floor to strut their stuff and still do do but it was such fun times to be in your teens and early 20s!

@@joshuamann5228 So true. And I think it should be noted Disco Duck was meant as a joke and most likely with the intent of undermining disco.
@@joshuamann5228 good thing disco music is coming back
Bee Gees were just awesome.

The Bee Gee's in the mid '70's WERE Disco!

Now that’s what you call music! I was lucky I grew up with that type of music and especially with Motown!
I absolutely love the BeeGees--grew up with them and I am loving watching you experience them for the first time! You are supposed to be dancing to this!
You are so right! Im 55 and grew up with the Bee Gees and their music was so awesome! Sure miss it.

I think you would really appreciate the earlier Bee Gees, To Love Somebody was one of their biggest hits, pre-disco era. Many others as well. Thanks.
Love the Bee Gees! It was great going out and disco dancing!! Good times, thanks for bringing back memories from when I was a teenager.☺
"I'm jealous... You guys had it good" We had the fever and I'm still blaming it all on those nights on Broadway!
This is one of the best songs to dance to, obviously. You're right - you can't NOT move to this song. The whole Saturday Night Fever album is one of the top selling albums of all time and understandably. Good movie, too. John Travolta was nominated for an Oscar.
I like your reaction to the Bee Gees 🙌. Even if you try to not move, you can't help end up dancing 🕺

Probably my favorite Bee Gees song.
Teenager in the 70’s, loved being 16 with them! People make fun of disco, but we danced, and danced to this Song. You would have loved the Clubs

I feel so BLESSED to have grown up in this era of music!!!
I've said this before and I'll say it again...I think from 1976 to 1982 was the ABSOLUTE GREATEST YEARS OF MUSIC!!!
Much love from Mobile Alabama.
The 1970s was a golden era -- disco, anthem rock, singer-songwriters, punk, country rock, funk...
If everyone in America had his personality and a sense of live together this would be a better world.
Saturday Night Fever from what I can remember was pivotal in the club scene. The Bee Gees were not ahead of their time. That WAS their time and everything that came after was retro. They were one of the iconic disco groups.
We had great music back then...makes you wanna dance
