In regard to Fred Anderson's upgraded security, I still support the fighter jets but I think the rabid alligators in the recently built perimeter moat may be a step too far. :D

Just got a RWD 2022 Premium with the factory X Series option package (black badging, exhaust tip, AT tires and black wheels). Turns heads for sure. Made in Japan. Very nice driving too.
Would you recommend getting one now or waiting for the redesign??

Another way to tell sr5 from sr5 premium is on the lift gate. Smart key buttons opposed to regular key on the lift gate.

How long did it take from arrival at port to car dealership? Waiting for mine to anchor at port on Dec 2nd.
Ours took about 30 days from port in Portland to our dealership in Michigan.

Can you compare a SR5 Premium 4x4 and a TRD Off-Road Premium 4x4!! What’s a better value to buy and I’m planning on modding it (lift kit and wheels etc.)
Aside from some cosmetic differences (I.e. are how much do you value the ‘look’ of one vs the other), IMHO it comes down to how much off roading you plan to do, and what degree of difficulty off-roading at that. The engine and transmission, and i believe chassis are all the same across 4Runner trims, so you aren’t paying up for more HP, torque, or a different transmission. The main difference between SR5 Prem and TRD Prem is off-road features. Both come with four wheel drive options, but if you plan to do a lot of off-roading with technical or challenging stuff, the TRD Prem has a few extra features which help on that front (locking rear dif, crawl control feature, etc) If you won’t be doing much off road or if your off roading without a ton of technical/challenging stuff, then you’ll be paying extra money for a TRD Prem’s features that you will likely never use, and so the SR5 prem will serve your needs just fine. And to be clear, the SR5 prem can handle a lot of off road stuff just fine so it comes down to look and whether the vehicle is going to be doing off road stuff where locking rear diff and other features will actually get use for you.
Both trims are priced about $1,500 apart. Go with the trd off road with the additional off road features that you might need when you're out there off roading.

I put my deposit down 2 weeks ago on an 2022 S5R premium. The dealer said 8 to 12 weeks for delivery. I have a feeling it's going to be well into 2022 before I see it.
I put my deposit on a 2022 end of September and just picked it up yesterday 🙂

Unfortunately, no.
You should do a special video showing the capabilities of a 2 wheel drive 4Runner. Skip the usual walk around, go straight into a wilderness drive through video. Go get a used 2 wheel drive SR5 off the lot and trash it off road.
Very helpful presentation. I believe the panoramic view monitor will be very useful if you live in an overcrowded city or if this is your first mid-size SUV.

Looking for clarification. Does the SR5 Premium come with the premium audio? The audio cuts for a few seconds at 6:13 where this is probably mentioned. I just wanna make sure I don’t need the Premium package if all I get is MTM.

@@vivinthomas1 I did some research, the short answer is yes. SR5 premium includes premium audio. Multi terrain monitor is the only benefit of the “premium package” add on. Aside from that you get the softex leather seats, blind spot monitoring & rear traffic alert, and the ability to add a moonroof with the SR5 premium.
The SR5 offers the premium audio system for a 1.5k upgrade
Fav is the the Premium for sure. Are the puddle lamps still there after the addition of the cameras on the mirrors ??
@@kimbuck-2 Recessed on underside of mirror ..on premium trim. they shine on the ground so you can see puddles beside the vehicle... or anything else that may be there (in the north, think ice ! ).

Here's what the "premium" doesn't have. No cross braces for the roof rack. No remote starter. Also, it doesn't come with a cargo shade. All should be standard on the premium models. Instead you get an upcharge of $1500. Also, the backup camera and cross traffic system work well, but they don't notify you as you get close to a stationary object when backing up.
Well our premium came with the cross braces...remote start...third row seating so you are incorrect

I wonder how capable a 4Runner is off road if it’s only an SR5? I just mean off road as far as finding cool camping spots off the beaten path, not taking on off-road obstacles. Also…if SR5 IS plenty for my off road needs, would a TRD Off-Road really be a horrible purchase considering how it the same gas mileage, and it would retain its greater resale value over the SR5?? Sort of a “Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it” thing.
The sr5 handles great off road. you can take it just about anywhere you could take a PRO or TRD OR. I have had both versions (tacoma) and they are both extremely capable. 99.999% of the time you will not use crawl control or multi terrain select. I wish they would make sr5 with a locker but most people don’t need it. Get some good tires. Most of the time wheeling comes down to the drivers capabilities, not the vehicles.

With $4 gas on the horizon, I think I’ll wait for the ‘23 update and hope it gets at least 23 mpg. Toyota doesn’t seem to be able to wring out the mileage Honda does with its V6.
Man I heard they gonna fuck up the 4 runner on the re design. No more body on frame type shit and no more V6. If that's the case I'm buying a 2022 right now, I'm getting the last gen. Tested tried and true.
The '22 model is the last version being built in the Lexus plant in Japan. The '23 will be built in Mexico. They will not have the same quality control as with Lexus. Also, the '23 will now have a turbo 4cyl engine. New engine means new things that will go wrong for a few years until they get sorted out. The 5th gen is solid for the last 20 years. Go with what hjas been proven... that's why I got my '22 this past October.
Honda is unibody and lighter. Technically a van Lol

This car is a true dinosaur. I;m not surprised to see low safety ratings. The passenger gets only 3 stars out of 5 in front crash. Also rollover is only 3 stars.I don't think the pre 2022 even have a push start and the base model does not even have side traffic alert. Also I think this vehicle may not even have android/apple. So really a dinosaur and a thirsty one as well. It is still appealing to buy one and to own it to remind you of the by gone era of cars. It has held the value exceptionally well but since plug in cars are coming this may not continue.
Apple /Android and push start are all standard on every trim level in 22

It does not come standard, you need to get the SR5 Premium, WITH the "Premium Plus Package"
@@kimbuck-2 I am confused on that last part of your message. I will try to explain. The SR5 premium does not come standard with the panoramic viewing monitor. The ONLY way to get the panoramic viewing monitor on a SR5 Premium is if you get a specific add-on package called the "Premium Plus Package".
@@kimbuck-2 I currently have a TRD Off Road Premium on reserve that has the option, I personally thing it will be very useful for parking in tighter spaces or making sure the side of your vehicle clear certain obstacles. You may not use it all of the time, but in cases where you need it, its very beneficial to have.

I have a 2020 4Runner SR5 in canada. Our SR5 is your SR5 premium with sunroof and 3rd row seats included. We also get automatic climate control on the SR5. The 2WD option is not available here. The other thing that's not available on the SR5 is the navigation system...we have to upgrade to the TRD O/R.
Hi Jeff. I have a 2021 SR5 in Canada (QC). I do love that we pretty much get a fully loaded SR5 (except for the navigation system), at a decent price when converted and compared to the US. I am just a bit bummed that 20/21 models didn't have BSM. That's a feature I would have liked a lot as part of the safety package.

I agree. I wish we had the embedded navigation software and a compass. I prefer just to use the embedded software instead of connecting my phone and using my data.
My dad had an SR5 in '11 and the compass was included where the clock is.

The SR5 models just made cheaper materials versus the TRD pros and eliminates and sports the other thing is SR5 doesn't come with moonroof

The next gen will be turbo….no thanks! You will go through 2-3 4Runners with a turbo before my non turbo craps out

@@randyjackson347 i actually like the key option. And people have to remember, the more gadgets/tech they put in these trucks drive the price up and puts the reliability down. So there is fine line there. These trucks are tanks as long as it's 4wheel drive haha

your absolutely wrong on the sr5 standard the top of the grill has only one silver like bar and the sr5 premium has two silver bars so you can tell the difference between the two
honestly I'd choose neither. unfortunately I got a 2020. but if I had the choice I would got a brand new 2019 sr5 4x4. great platform to start for mods and way less electrical components to go bad over time. that safety sense is very annoying on the 2020 and glitchy. there is a reason toyota switched from the gloss black safety sense covers of the 2020's to the matte black finish of 2021's and there should be a safety recall to go with this.

they have sense fixed it. it was only the 2020 model. the rest have the matte black safety sense. it's the rectangular box located on grille.
I have a 2017 SR5 that I'm trying to modify. When I bought it it was my first toyota and had no idea of the trim levels. I really like the limited version of the 4Runner. I will definitely get a brand new limited 4Runner, maybe in 2025 though.

Just bought a 22 sr5 4wd 3rd row seating, floor liners and cargo tray. 44315 otd. Don't want the softek or heated seats. Did want a sunroof. But what the hay. Life goes on
