I'm new to the GR 55, and this video may be 9 years old, but it was mad helpful in understanding the complexity and power of the thing. Now I'm excited for more.

Just bought the GR-55 and you have NO idea how thankful I am you have these instructional vids up.. I some times play at my church and it's a small one ( about 150 ) and all they have is the typical piano and organ. I'm hoping this will bring more to the music part of the services and get more young people interested in coming to church

Keep them commin Kennis, I also just found you on Face Book ( you should invent a Christian social media site called " Grace Book " Trying to bring young people to the church and the church is made up of mainly elderly so it's very difficult for me to get ideas thru maybe you can help me in that department Find me on FB Gary Birch

Kennis - I have viewed many of your GR 55 tutorials and they have all been very helpful. You have assisted me in the operation of and in the decision to purchase the GR- 55. I no longer use the GR 30 or the GK2a/gk3 pickups as I now have a Synth ready Godin ACS sa guitar. Thank you and keep up the great work!

These videos were a great help when I first started. I just want to say thanks again for creating them. I have spent countless hours playing and programming this thing and realize that they could offer a college degree on its use.. sure is fun though.

This series is terrific. I had read that it's a good idea to learn as much as possible before buying this unit. Mine will arrive tomorrow. I'm sure there will be a major learning curve but after watching this series, feel confident that I have a solid understanding of how to digg in to create my own sound

Hi Kennis great patch!!! I'm a guitarist on a worship team. Can you easily and simply demonstrate how to use the volume pedal so that your volume trails off like when using reverb or delay and not just cut the volume off. My worship leader loves this patch! Thanks for making these vids they have been very helpful.

Thanks Kennis. I am currently using the GR 33 and VG 8EX that I link with the US 20 Foot Switch and Xenyx 502 mixer. I like the sounds I can achieve through these units but I really like the additional abilities (and compact size) that would be possible with the GR 55. Thanks for the information, you have definitely helped me make the decision to go with the 55.

Need some advice on the piano sound. When I hit a lower not, sometimes it triggers it twice; in other words, I'll pluck the note, but it'll be like it plucked it twice. Read a couple forums saying it's all about learning to play more gently, etc., but there's gotta be a setting, i'd think. Thanks!

***** hey kennis :) so im workin away at the gr 55 and how to use it, one thing im still confused about is the preset user patches, i was wondering how many user presets i am allowed to overwrite for my own sounds, also is there any spare user patches in the library that dont have any factory settings put into them? or is every single user patch preset, what worries me is that if i overwrite a preset user patch thatt i like but have to sacrifice to make my own sound, how do i get it back, ( will i have to save them all to usb or is there anything else i can do?? thanks, i know theres a few questions but much appreciation for all the tips so far!!

  • @JKT0502
    @JKT0502 12 років тому

What I found was changing the settings for the "Guitar Out" and also for the other "Output". Page 54 of the manual. You can set the "Guitar Out" to Patch (which only plays the patch sounds, "Normal PU" which plays the guitar sound and I think, "Modeling" which, if memory serves me correct, plays the guitar and amp modeling sounds which the "Output" (when plugged into a pa or another amp) will play the other patch sounds. You can set the "Guitar Out" to "Both" I think too. =]

Hi Kennis - I have watched you videos multiple times over the years, as I come and go back to my GR55. I use it mor for recording my ideas than anything.
I too have a Godin (xtsa). I am wondering if there is a way to select between the accoustic/piezo sound and the humbuckers as they enter and pass through the GR55? It seems you can only have both constantly and just wipe the volume on either. I would rather select between the two.
Also I would like to get the COSM guitar sound to provide more doubled up effect that is slight delayed and panned off centre (or humanised) so I can get a thicker distinct sound of two guitarists that doesnt sound uniform. ANY Ideas or thoughts??
Many thanks for all your work on these great videos
    Graham

Kennis, can you do global chromatic change to all GR55 generated sounds? This way I won't have to go in and change instruments over to chromatic to stop them from generating notes every time I lift my fingers from the strings. I also find that some of these sounds are too radical and would like to have my patches set up for more mellow sounds. Is there a copy and paste function? This way I'd like to set up, for example, user position one to be piano with 3 piano sounds, position 2 strings etc

Hi Kennis Thanks a lot for the lesson my friend, impressive!!!! I was an owner of a 1978 Avatar, and that was ok for single lines but this thing is just awesome! Can you PLEASE do another PCM clip looking for a steel guitar sound, I think that that "chromatic " mode might work real well as I noticed when you did the bends it reminded me of the steel, so important in Country, but a real pain to cart around and set up for what usually will amount to 35-55% of most "pop" country band's material. Also, good players are hard to find and sometimes can be prima donnas because of the apparent lack of them!!

@kennisrussell hey thxs so much for answer. the thing is that with the boss GT 10 I plug it to the PC, and without need of any driver, works automatic. I play my winamp and i listen the sound on my headphones which are plug to the GT 10 and the sound come all mixed. so I use my backing tracks this way. the gr 55 don´t recognise my PC, and using the memory stick it´s not worthed too, cos when I´m practising a solo I need to play the song from that particular point, once and once again. no chance

hello there, i just purchased the gr55. It's amazing. Got a question, can I run my guitar through the gr55 using my guitars pickups (and not the gk3 pups) and use the wah function? what other effects can i use with my guitar pickups? so that the gr55 acts like a regular effect pedal? When I use the gk3 there are latency issues. some patches on the machine seem to have no tracking issues, im wondering if thats my guitars pickups running throught the machine.
I hope you understand my question.

Hi Kennis....I'am also a worship leader at my church. I have the new POD HD 300 which has done a great job for me , but I was wondering how much do you really get to use the pcm sounds in your songs at church? Also are the modeled amp sounds really good? When you play live at church are you using an amp or are you going direct to the pa and then thru the monitors? By the way you do a very nice job on explaining how to use this gear!!! Keep up the great work and keep rocking for Jesus!!!!!!!!!!
