    Why am I always watching these videos? I don't even play Poker... but now I could follow a conversation between two poker players using poker lingo without missing most information; that's something I guess.

      You should play. If you understand his videos without the added help of actually playing, then throwing that in would make things come together all that much more. Good chance you’d be decent atbthe game.

      @Trephining 5 місяців тому

      What happened to that one? My dad had a ‘66 GTO. He wrecked that in the early 70s or maybe late 60s though. Sad thing was, beyond losing that car and him being hospitalized and all that, he was planning on using the GTO as trade-in on a brand new 1970 Charger in the next month or so. Wish either one of those was still in his possession bc he took good care of his stuff. Well, aside from crashing them into trees or telephone polls when out drag-racing, that is.

    One of the most ignored topics in poker is the problem with classification. You think you can safely label someone Aggro, TAG, LAG etc. Really? How robust are your observations? Why don't you walk through ALL the factors that are necessary to arrive at that conclusion like sample size, the context of that observation (players to left and right), table-image given a certain collection of players, etc., etc. It's fun to believe you have a definitive read and that now you get to go into exploit mode. Most of the time, the validity of that read is lacking particularly with sample sizes of only a few thousand hands. Some of the time you are the one who has been exploited in your desire to be exploitative.

    • @splitsuit
      @splitsuit 5 років тому +4

      This is a totally fair point, and really where we get into the art and science of the game. Making assumptions doesn't guarantee that the assumptions will be perfect. But with experience, player pool analysis, and a solid technical foundation - the ability to make better assumptions increases dramatically.
      That said, the sample size will always be lacking and there will always be a margin of error in the assumptions. And if players aren't willing to accept that margin of error, they can always attempt to implement a more balanced approach so long as they understand they are far from optimal in 99% of games.

    • @mercilpb
      @mercilpb 5 років тому

      I agree for the most part. But the thing is there are a lot of spots that are 0 EV at equilibrium using a GTO strategy. And those that case, IMO we might as well work off of flawed, failiable assumptions and try to do better then make a bunch of 0 EV decisions. Making an educated guess and being wrong in our assumptions sometimes is better then breaking even in a spot.

    I appreciate you sharing your knowledge free of charge. I have some feedback that you might find useful: you're too verbose. I understand when you make a presentation to the camera, you don't have a human being in front of you to indicate whether or not they're understanding your message, so it might make you want to reiterate the same ideas in different words to make sure your point was made. Unfortunately, rather than make your point more emphatic, this just waters your message down and makes the presentation feel tedious. Although I haven't actually tracked the ratio of sentences to ideas expressed, I get the impression that you could easily cut the amount of talking by 2/3 and make the same points. You might consider actually writing out a script in advance and practicing it before going on camera. Since you already have videos recorded, you could try transcribing the words you've spoken, cleaning up the resulting text into a tight script, and re-recording the new script. I can tell you have a lot of valuable ideas but I keep finding myself saying, "ok, I get it" and wishing you'd cut yourself off already. It gets tedious to listen to after a while. You have a pleasant presentation and are articulate and clearly knowledgeable, so if you could just work on brevity, your vids would be a lot more enjoyable.
