Absolute security is a myth. With enough money and motive, anything can be breached. So if you use an attitude of 'assume breach', you start to think differently about how to secure your people, the data and the infrastructure. Regardless if its on-prem or in the cloud.
One misnomer is that 'assume breach' means we don't apply security because it doesn't matter. That's wrong. You still need to be training and tracking your people, updating your processes and applying the security controls in the products. But if your incident response takes into account how to safeguard things and 'fail safely', you are in a much better position.
