Art Scholl...I love the hammerhead stall that he does...Camera placement was almost perfect...made it look like he slid right up the face of the cliff, stalled over, kicked the rudder over, and right back down the face. A Master Pilot...Rest in Peace

Gotta give some props to Mike Runyard who's the stunt double for Knotcher. He was a factory racer for Can Am and Suzuki back in the 70's. He also did stuntwork in James Bond A View To A Kill, Iron Man I & II, Ant-Man... Dude 's the real deal.

Because of this movie, commercial aircrews have been supplied with cassette players with this music score. SOP is to use this music to enhance pilot performance during critical phases of the flight. Also heard flight schools are using it too. Pilots graduate 26% quicker when listening to this song over the headsets while doing their mountain training.

    Neuri,
"Jimmy Branson" was a friend of Doug's, Reggie's and Tony's who died flying "The Snake" with Knotcher. He was running a lean mixture (remember when Doug asked Chappy, "What are you doing making my mixture so rich?"), stalled, and couldn't pull out.
Chappy: As _lean as you were running_, if you went into a stall you would've _lost your engine_, and _never_ would've been able to pull it out!
Doug: That must've been what happened to Jimmy!
Chappy: That's what happened to the Branson kid, all right. He didn't know that, either. And, they sure couldn't tell him after they peeled him off that _cliff!_
(Yes, I know this movie a _little too well!_ :D

I can happily say i have flown in each of the 3 aircraft seen here. My father was a private pilot and between him and his pilot buddies all 3 of these airplanes were available to me as a kid to ride in to our dawn patrol breakfasts. My dad owned an Aeronca Champion 7EC, His buddy Terry had a black and white Cennsa 150, and his other buddy Pete owned the Tomahawk.

But I have to say, once you fly in an A-10 you will definitely reconsider your choice of best single seater. Every time you fire just a small burst from that 30mm cannon on the nose the entire plane slows down. It's like hitting the brakes in a car and letting right back off. And the entire

A loose cap would not spill all of the oil out of the engine. The oil sump is not pressurized. Pilots inadvertently leave the oil sticks loose on Lycomings and Continentals all the time...you will get a little bit of oil out but not much. Ask me how I know. :-)
Smoke systems pump oil directly into the hot exhaust pipes to produce smoke...they don't put oil into the combustion chamber. I have a smoke system that I installed on my homebuilt RV-7A.

I still say the Teen fighters were the very best. This flight scene I just loved and was in my head when I went up in Cessna 150 early on in my PPL training. It still is the best flight scene ever made non military that is.

Sorry I'm late ;) One that came to mind is Dare by Stan Bush from another 80's movie I loved: "Transformers". But I agree, I looked for years to find this song because it's so good! Also, another classic from this same soundtrack is Gimme Some Lovin' by Spencer Davis Group. Can't say they're "more awesome" because obviously taste is subjective and there's so much music, but I think they're equally awesome ;)

AOA is the angle between the mean chord line of the wing and the relative wind. The angle between the relative wind and the longitudinal axis of the aircraft is the sum of the AOA and the angle of incidence of the wing.
Difference in AOA between normal level cruise and level slow flight depends on the airfoil, power, and the flap position, which changes the chord line of the airfoil.
