I'm only 18 but my Dad has helped me grow up with Big Country. I managed to see them twice this year! Once in London and a 2nd time at V Fest. They were amazing, I was the same age as my Dad was when he first saw the band! :)
Yes, Stu WAS Big Country...saw them live in Providence, Rhode Island (1983)...have mixed feelings about the remaining musicians carrying on....I wouldn't go see them...there's a time and place for everything...Stu lives on in our hearts and minds...they were phenomenal!
Thank you Mike Peters for stepping in and keeping Big Country alive! This is great, in my opinion... and just imagine where BC could be in a few years time if we the people support them! The Alarm, Big Country, U2, Simple Minds etc have ALWAYS thrived on the energy of supportive, participatory audiences! Stuart is gone... his spirit lives on in these songs and, YES, these performances! Peace y'all...
I love when the roadie ties Tony's shoe. :-) One of the lesser known rock and roll moments. R.I.P. always Stuart. I think he would have been proud of Mike Peter's performance here!
Loved Stuart in Skids and Big Country he was a God but at least Mike Peters and the band are keeping Stuarts music alive and showing a new generation just how good Stuarts music was.
the collaboration of two great bands and I'm sure Mike would agree with all the comments made on here but live performances of these great songs must continue we all miss Stuart and his talent but I'm sure he is rocking along in heaven with his friends.
Mike does pretty well ......... I love the alarm to.Stop praying someone is irreplaceable. Everyone is. You, I.When I close my eyes, I hear lots of Stuart in it.I miss the most his very good guitar performance !!!
@bruffie1 There really is no other man who could step into Stuarts shoes like this one. He is passionate about good music, not only his own,but Big Country's also.
My cooments by the way are no comment on Mike either. he was always respectful of big country and his own band the Alarm wernt too shabby either, just think this is missing the passion
@bruffie1 it does work, and carrying on is right if what you do is not memorabilia. the band is alive and doesn't deserve being scrapped because its engine is blown. put a new one in and away you go for another 250000 miles.
@Daniel, i could not agree more with you. watch stuart sing , you can tell his songwriting was personal and from the heart. i know this has most of the original line up but without the energy and guitar playing its just not the same and has lost some raw energy that stuarts vocals and guitar brought. this is more like the big country kareaoke show . i know they mean well and its in his honour but as you say its not what he wanted.
@bruffie1 It's difficult, but if you see them live it's a totally different experience than looking at a video. I've seen them at southampton and am going to see them at reading hexagon in feb. It's respectful because they even leave a space on the stage where stuart should be.
The truth is, when you listen to old interviews with Stuart...he talks about his song writing process. In 1984, he was asked: "Would you ever like other rock bands singing your songs or for Big Country to change members." Stuart said: "No, what I write is really close to me and if one man is down, we would be Stuart Adamson...not Big Country." Stuart really wouldn't have wanted a tribute band. He was too humble. I think it's a good effort, but it needs to just rest.
How great is this ?????? I don´t believe this. WOW.Hair darker, shorter, less weight and back he is :-))))) And I just read they are in BOCHUM in march. I think I will have to go. Yipeeeeeeeeeee
I think BC is a great band even with out our beloved Stuart but they need to write new songs and not try to use Stuarts masterpieces to try and recapture their old glory. That is just disrespectful to Stuart. I don't mind them getting a new singer but show some respect and move on with evolving BC musically or hang it up and forget about it. I think Stuart would want the band to continue on but not off of his name or previous works. RIP Stuart we love and miss you! See you in heaven big guy!
at last but not least....mike is the only one so far who could replace stuart on the lead singing....sorry bruce... brilliant guys!!! carry on I've always been a fan anyway...and I'll always be
thumbs up, but Stuart was a genius. I love Tony, Bruce, Mark and now things have changed further. create a new band and do not call it BC. I miss Stuart so much and to call this BC isn't right b/c it's not. It's a great group, but if Paul and Ringo got together, would you call them the Beatles.
@davyroppaslf1 . . . .sorry mate. ,got to disagree with you Mike Peters is a god in his own right ( fuck Bono). .i know that in your eyes he's no Stuart Adamson but by crickey he does a cracking job. . .Big Country were never a favourite of mine when they came out in the early 80's, but i went to see them on tour in 2000 ( twice actually, because they were brilliant) and to be honest ,by having mike on vocals its giving people the chance to go and see a mighty fine band
It's an OK performance from the singer, but as someone wrote it before me, it somewhat misses passion and raw energy. Of course that's partly due to aging, but of course even more so because the successor had to step into really big shoes. It's like Foreigner without Lou Gramm or Queen without Mercury. But it is nice to see the remaining musicians enjoying themselves, and can we blame them to think about earning some extra earnings ? I'd give this a 7.5 /10 for the vocals and 8.5 for the instrumentalists, while in its heyday no less figure than 9/10 would have been fair to qualify the BC live concerts.
Mike peters joined because he wanted to promote himself more than anything hence why he restarted the alarm. I also think they need to let Stuart's ghost rest he can't be replaced and never will They do it for money not for the fans. I think Tony had the right idea and let it go. Ps Bruce can't play guitar like Stuart either but maybe I'm being petty
Sorry......loved this band. Just cannot watch this through. This just doesn't work. How can you carry on without the man who was lead singer, lead guitarist and songwriter. This just ain't right! :(
These are good songs, and I know it's not the same, but I'm glad they're still being played.
+joynthis Fair assesment, singer is doing an OK job, even if my preference still goes to the original performer.
Benoit Vanhees That's because there is no one like Stuart.
I'm only 18 but my Dad has helped me grow up with Big Country. I managed to see them twice this year! Once in London and a 2nd time at V Fest. They were amazing, I was the same age as my Dad was when he first saw the band! :)

What a great original band BIG COUNTRY are !
I love when the roadie ties Tony's shoe. :-) One of the lesser known rock and roll moments. R.I.P. always Stuart. I think he would have been proud of Mike Peter's performance here!
Welcome back Big Country! Miss you, Stuart.
This just makes me happy. This music needs to be heard live for as long as these guys can play it. Long live Big Country!
Loved Stuart in Skids and Big Country he was a God but at least Mike Peters and the band are keeping Stuarts music alive and showing a new generation just how good Stuarts music was.
Going to see them on friday!! Manchester academy! cant f**kin wait!!!!!!!
Brilliant, loved to see Sooty dancing near the end.
the collaboration of two great bands and I'm sure Mike would agree with all the comments made on here but live performances of these great songs must continue we all miss Stuart and his talent but I'm sure he is rocking along in heaven with his friends.
God,I miss Tony Butler...
Great cover respect
Loved the big grin on Mike's face when he sings ''but I will show you how to live like no man can'' keep doing it Mike. Stay Alive.
I'd paying money to have the t in the park BBC coverage on DVD. Gutted I missed it on the telly
Stuart is a hard act to follow and there will never be another one like him but Mike does a pretty good job.
They still make a beautiful noise! Awesome rhythm section!
Mike does pretty well ......... I love the alarm to.Stop praying someone is irreplaceable. Everyone is. You, I.When I close my eyes, I hear lots of Stuart in it.I miss the most his very good guitar performance !!!

I believe that is Mike Peters from the band, The Alarm, singing.
@bruffie1 There really is no other man who could step into Stuarts shoes like this one. He is passionate about good music, not only his own,but Big Country's also.

You guys obviously haven't seen them this year.
How great is this ?????? I don´t believe this. WOW.Hair darker, shorter, less weight and back he is :-))))) And I just read they are in BOCHUM in march. I think I will have to go. Yipeeeeeeeeeee
I'd pay real money :)
i know mike personally nicest guy you could meet
chris warner Yeah I met him loads at concerts, he's funny and really nice.
Is Bruce using Stuart's Guitar ?
I think BC is a great band even with out our beloved Stuart but they need to write new songs and not try to use Stuarts masterpieces to try and recapture their old glory. I agree with you 100%.
You can't knock the guitar playing from Bruce Watson
this is a tribute, peters is not trying to take stu's place .
just aint doing it without stuart,r.i.p
at last but not least....mike is the only one so far who could replace stuart on the lead singing....sorry bruce...
brilliant guys!!! carry on
I've always been a fan anyway...and I'll always be
No Stuart, No Big Country........is like Queen without Freddie
thumbs up, but Stuart was a genius. I love Tony, Bruce, Mark and now things have changed further. create a new band and do not call it BC. I miss Stuart so much and to call this BC isn't right b/c it's not. It's a great group, but if Paul and Ringo got together, would you call them the Beatles.
Bang on!
sorry tony I meant....

@davyroppaslf1 . . .i prefered ' The Skids ' anyway. ,. ,ha ha

I guess they have to pay their rent like everyone else.
Mike peters joined because he wanted to promote himself more than anything hence why he restarted the alarm. I also think they need to let Stuart's ghost rest he can't be replaced and never will

well, to be cynic, peters now sings better than Stuart could..
so.... they changed the lyrics. gross. otherwise i enjoyed this video.
STOP THIS CIRCUS
Bruce cant hack at Stuarts guitar tone but he does a heck of a good job!Mike Peters is pretty awesome too... Just wish i got to see Stuart Adamson :(
Could be worse but Stuart was definitely 2nd to none!
Back at the festival! Awesome!
