I sold 3 pickers a 15 row planter and a 30ft. Header probably to the same guy, name was long as a hoe handle, just called him Harry from Pawleys island
Matt, take a look at adding Alfalfa to your winter rye control for amaranth/pig weed. Hairy Vetch is also supposed to work but HV might turn into a weed itself so I've stayed clear of that one.
I’ve gone away from hairy vetch when following with cotton because it is extremely difficult to place cotton seed shallow in vetch. Cereal rye is the most important part of our mix for weed control due to its allelopathic properties
Hey Matt I'm looking at building my own roller crimper. Do you have any videos about yours or got any pointers on building one? Good luck finishing planting
I don’t recommend taking turkey eggs. I accidentally hit one this year with the strip till and we rescued the eggs. They all hatched fine and we’re growing good. But the baby turkeys get fed by their mom for a few weeks after they are born and without that process the turkeys will die. It’s kind of like a calf that doesn’t get his moms colostrum. All of the turkeys we rescued have died since.
Seed prices ($600!): can you save your own cotton seed if you started with heirloom or off-patent seeds from a seed bank? Do you have or can get a simple cotton gin to collect seeds from small plots? Can the cotton bale buyers keep bales separate and give you your seed back if you were using your own heirloom/hybrid? I'm expanding heirloom corn and soybean seeds at my place as I'm isolated from genetic drift.
If using off patent seed, it would practically be impossible to get any of my own saved seed from the gin due to the nature of the ginning process. Plus the gin owns the seed from the ginning process to cover the costs of ginning the cotton. Also, cotton seed has to go through a delinting process in order to remove all the fiber from in for it to flow in a planter
We planted a 1,000 acres of cotton from April 28th to April 30th infront of a rain idk if it was a good a bad decision ig harvest will tell lol
Good to be done.
Ya, JUST A FARMER!!! AMAZING KNOWLEDGE!
You sure jinxed us talking about those perfect planting conditions.
Are you sick Matt never heard you do any real complaining good video cheers to all Bundaberg Australia
DUDE, I COULD LISTEN TO YOUR MAD SCIENTIST TALKS ALL DAY LONG!!
So happy for you to have such great planting conditions!!
Cotton is one of the hardest crops to get up they are not like peanuts or corn greetings from South Georgia
Please tell me 3rd time was a charm Matt. You didn’t have to replant ALL of your cotton did you???
I sold a cotton stripper to a guy from Greece. He was an equipment jockey I was told. This was 15 years ago. Great videos

Fantastic video 👍🏻👏👏🙋♂️👍🏻
Getting some good news along with getting your crop planted in a good timeframe.

Cereal rye is about the best for stopping waterhemp

I do have alfalfa fields and u never see palmer there, might be something to it
Hello
Have you ever consider putting a crimper roller on your planter?
@@kilbymajette7115 it can’t be done on my planter due to the design of the transport frame
What is your cover crop mix for different crops
Why wide rows Matt. Is it just a cotton thing? I’m up here in Indiana and I haven’t seen wide rows in at least 20 years
So you did real tease on potential cotton emergence issues. How long for us to get an update?
Couple weeks
Why don't you harvest the cover crop being you can leave the cover crop on the ground to still provide the benefit of weed control?
Hey Matt I'm looking at building my own roller crimper. Do you have any videos about yours or got any pointers on building one? Good luck finishing planting
It needs to be heavy and have chevron blades to minimize vibration. Those things take a beating
🦾🦾
Was that the same cover crop mix you did on a video a while back with multi species?
We have different mixes tailored specifically for the crop we’re planting along with planting and termination date
