Something extra sweet about that bully scene, in an earlier episode Clair rejected the idea of dumping TEA on Rae because that would be too mean. But here, against the bullies, she used tea!
Just as a heads-up, the three princes are revealed to be brothers in the first episode. So no worries, you didn't accidentally spoil yourself by checking the wiki. 👍 It's really cool to see you theorizing!
That confused me because I thought the idea was “Prince Thane has two brothers” like, two brothers who don’t go here to school hahaha. I didn’t realize the anime meant they were all related
@@calxiyn It's not really a spoiler but I can't remember if it's mentioned in the anime... The kingdom doesn't have a modern elevator school system from what I remember, so people of varying ages (though usually all still young) attend the academy. That's why 3 non-triplet brothers can be in the same class.
Honestly the fact that an anime like this had such a down-to-earth, mature conversation scene like that was quite a pleasant surprise. Even if Claire is still a while away from actually reciprocating Rae's feelings, she at least has had her mind opened a bit more about the reality of them.
Something I heard about years ago was the publisher, Seven Seas, getting in huge hot water because they censored and altered Rae's internal monologue in the book version of this scene, that's much longer, about Rae self-reflecting that also went into homophobia in Japan. Everyone noticed, and they were forced to change it back.
"are you a gay" "are you a friend of Dorothy's?" "do you carry a colorful purse?" "do you own a clacking hand fan?" "do you know how to vogue?" are all the same question. let that sink in like Claire gon let the gay thoughts sink in 😂
I haven't read the books and have only seen the same amount of episodes you have so far, so working off with roughly the same amount of context, I personally think the fact Rae was isekaied into a dating video game where the game expects the player to be straight a vital part of the story. Rae is literally breaking the game in order to be with the girl she actually wants to be with while the game keeps trying to reel her back into one of the story routes. She is actively trying to lower the affections of the characters because she is not interested in men and the game doesn't know what to do with her. It keeps sorting her into the different routes. And I think that says a lot about society in the expectation to be straight. We see small glimpses of Rae's life prior to being isekaied and we see how lonely and given up she was. Now she has a chance to live her school days out again and this time she is being open about her sexuality and love and is okay with no one loving her back as long as she can see Claire be happy. This loneliness Rae experiences is very familiar to so many queer people and interested to see where they go with this.
Hopefully we get a season two so that we get the other big first major arc moments and flashbacks that deal with both queerphobia and specifically lesbophobia and transphobia.
first anime who really goes there about homosexuality, I stopped watching anime because of the way it treats women and sexualize us, but I'm happy to have given this one a try, is amazing.
You havn't been spoiled, dont worry! You for sure were supposed to know the three brothers have the same last name, they were introduced as the three princes of the kingdom, that's how the first episode started, with Rae looking at the game's cover and saying that, then brushing them aside to talk about the person she's interested in, Claire.
I think you should check out the English dub of the series, especially if you’re making comparisons to RWBY, Rae and Claire totally sound like Ruby and Weiss! Fun Fact: Claire responding to the bullying/homophobia was never part of this scene in the original light novel. Manga/Anime exclusives Also, yes, the food bit at the end was a metaphor. Sour is an acquired, taste, and just like someone being gay or lesbian, it’s also what makes it good/natural to some..
I can say this, she wasn't referring to claire when she said, "i am not the only one with a painful love experience" *misty steps outta there with a fufufufu*
I knew she was a lesbian from other people bringing it up and the afterwards of all her books I've read thanking her partner. But this is the first I've heard of her being trans.
I have sought for a few hours a couple of days ago but could find no source for her being trans in the traditional sense. Apparently she was born intersex, but most people when they hear "Trans Lesbian " think AMAB, which i cant find mentioned anywhere. So still trans, but id assume she never was viewed as male by society before transitioning. I think that because she talked a fair bit about being a lesbian and a few times about being intersex, but never about transitioning, being trans, or struggling with being percieved as male by society, and i think shed have talked about that considering how open she is about her LGBT struggles.
Great episode. Shows some of the series' depth. First 2 had hints but now we have more of the serious moments. And as you said, there's nothing saying Claire can't be bi but who knows. Rei is still soldering on anyway. She'll be on an interesting and funny ride, either way. Adaptation has actually been surprisingly solid.
I like this episode, I read everything, even the novel with Claire point of view, so I will not spoil you about what will happend in the future, just say that here is the first time Claire notice Rae is more than just jockes, and start looking her better, but ofc nothing more, I love when I read what she is thinking, ofc is more, but better not say it, anyway, is a great episode, and I like your reactions, I will wait next one.
I WATCHED THE THIRD EPISODE OF "I'M IN LOVE WITH THE VILLAINESS" & IT WAS LESSON LEARNED WHEN CLAIRE STANDS FOR RAE BY DUMPING THE TEA TO THE HOMOPHOBIC BULLIES, LOL! 👭🌈💖👸🍵🎮📺😂
Honestly, even as someone who likes the conversation about Rae's orientation, I think what's iffy to me is the bit about Claire being afraid of her. Like yes, it is pointed out that she reacted that way because Rae is gay. But they make it seem like Rae's previous actions toward her were not a problem? Even though they were? Maybe there's just something left out from the novels that made this flow better. All I know is that this series will need to do a lot of work to convice me that Rae romancing Claire is fine. Rae really needs growth and has to cool down on her stalker behavior, because that kind of shit shouldn't be made light of.
Rei had already stated that her actions doesn't help the prejudice, that's why she knows why Claire reacted like that. Then in terms of character development, she will have lots of them don't worry. Problem is I don't how much the anime can cover in such few episodes
Rae at this point of the story, is fully aware that her actions are crossing major boundaries. She was a full grown adult in her past life and so has the mental maturity and self awareness of one It’s just that, she is also just currently “riding the high” of actually being able to see talk and interact with her most beloved character in person. Just imagine being given the chance to actually talk to and be friends with your favorite character from a show. That is literal gold.
Was originally watching the show separately and watching your Murder Drone reaction too, so imagine my surprise seeing you reacting to this show I also just started
I like your theories! They are pretty good xD and if you recall Claire was concern about toss tea on Rei, but she didn't hesitate at those two girl xD She went straight to protect her future **** xD Next week will be a good episode :3 I am excited to see your reaction and theories for the episode 4 xD
Oh, the thing about Claire not fighting in the original story has something to do with her mother, yes, but it is explained in a later aspect. My God, you got something right about having a childhood friend, but not completely. Seriously, how can you get so many things right just by theorizing?! You should play the lottery 😂 You are so accurate about certain points others went too far 😆 Ah, about what you saw of the male romantic interests in the game, it's clear at the beginning that there are three princes, so they are three people from the same family, meaning they have the right to the throne of the kingdom. It's not a spoiler for the story. the amount of no's you said in the part where Claire interrupts Thene put a smile on my face 🤣 For Bi/Pan people, gender may not be important, but for me, a girl who likes other girls, gender does matter! I don't think of men romantically, so what Rae says is very comforting. Not only this scene, but the entire chapter of the novel and the manga in this part changed my view of Rei and I learned to like her (especially the work) because of that 🥹❤️ Your childhood friend/love theory is a great theory, even if it's not entirely true. I have a smile on my face every time you come back with it knowing that it can still be used partially. when Rae said that others have love problems. She told everyone at the table so you already know what to expect 😅 This episode really is just high emotions, thank you for the video. I love your reactions and theories so much. It always puts a smile on my face, even more so when it comes so close to what it really is.
believe it or not Rae Taylor is reminds me so much of the protagonist in a novelette I wrote and published the novelette and the protagonist are both named Blaze Sharp and the only major difference it Rae Taylor lives and works in a magical kingdom Blaze Sharp lives and works in a spy agency other than that and appearences they're clones both lesbians, both masters of their field, both in love with a bisexual woman in power, both badasses, both geniuses, neither had an easy childhood, and tragically both cannonically dead, plus anything else I forgot and more to come later when we learn more I have literally Imagined them in a death battle in which I believe Blaze Sharp would win because she has won a fight to the death with a god
I have read the manga and i really think that Claire's family will go into poberty and she gave up in the original story and that's why Rae made her own fanfic where Claire doesn't give up and fights for her life and that's what she wants to happen this time with her support.

Blew my mind to see an anime actually challenge the “character immediately panics/feels threatened when someone is openly gay” trope.
Something I heard about years ago was the publisher, Seven Seas, getting in huge hot water because they censored and altered Rae's internal monologue in the book version of this scene, that's much longer, about Rae self-reflecting that also went into homophobia in Japan. Homophobia is a serious topic in this show, this is just the tip of the iceberg not sure if most of the scenes will come in this season
Transphobia as well.
Hopefully we get a season two so that we get the other big first major arc moments and flashbacks that deal with both queerphobia and specifically lesbophobia and transphobia.

I can’t believe I only found out two days ago the author for this series is a trans lesbian (according to a tweet I saw)
I knew she was a lesbian from other people bringing it up and the afterwards of all her books I've read thanking her partner. But this is the first I've heard of her being trans.
Wow that’s super interesting, that explains why the writing was super genuine and authentic.
I have sought for a few hours a couple of days ago but could find no source for her being trans in the traditional sense.

So that's why the series tackles the lgbt love problem. The author experience them first hand or atleast learn them through the community.
Its these special scenes that makes this series great! I love this anime!

this anime will ges so fucking gay i can't wait to see it
