it works because of the opening in the barrel,as when u are inserting the tube into the barrel u should latch it on to the opening so that it doesn't shoot out immediately and since that red button is directly above the opening, when u press down on it,it will push the tube down to make it go through the barrel.Hope this helps!

some tips for ppl who it doesnt work for are: dont use lined paper as it is less durable than white sheet paper
