  • Today is peony planting day! We received our peony bare root order from Onings this week and it is time to start getting them in the ground before winter really sets in. In today’s video, we show you how we plant our peonies in landscape fabric as well as share all the varieties we chose to order and why. #flowerfarm #flowerfarming #peonies

Thank you for inviting us to follow your process.
Your content is easily interesting and enjoyable enough to carry itself even without music. At least to me it is distracting and I much prefer whatever if any sound naturally is there.
Looking forward to following all the great and hard work you do.

I'm new to your channel and have loved watching.
I'm also in Oklahoma. Our farming is for subsistence, but I daydream about beautiful flowers - like yours! I was watching the digging and, while I would say the Harrison twist is nothing less than impressive, did you give any thought to post hole diggers? Just a thought from someone who knows nothing about flower farming :)

Those are going to look fantastic. I'm in Canada and no way we will be planting anything until the end of May...we've already had a few snowfalls.

If you decide to order / grow more peonies, and want to add another colour. Consider buying Bartzilla. It is a more expensive peony as it is an Itoh Peony, BUT I can tell you people love and respond to it in amazement for it's huge flower size and it's buttery yellow colour. It is unique and people are drawn to it for that reason, because it is a unique peony colour and size, it is easy to charge more for. It is the one more expensive peony, that I would say, is worth the extra cost many times over. It is the only peony I wish I had bought more of.

I think Bartzella is a little too big for flower arrangements, although it does look amazing in the landscape. There are many yellow herbaceous varieties however, that are better for cut flowers.

    • @EvelynM-vlogs

@@gardeningjunkie2267I love using it in bouquets and my customers love them as well. But then, I am known for my dinnerplate dahlia bouquets so I am used to, and comfortable with creating floral arrangements with an emphasize on large focals. I only wish we could grow Protea here as I would love to add that to my repertoire.

When I went to Onings website they didn't list peonies anywhere. Is there a specific site you order from? I'm in Massachusetts so too late to plant more this year but Id like to get my ducks in a row for next year. Just discovered your channel and it's already been very helpful so thank you!!!

    • @CoramDeoFarm

Hi Linda! Onings is a bit more old fashioned. You need to email them and ask the updated catalog. They will send you a PDF that shows everything they have, prices, what is in stock etc….then they have a form you fill out to order. Their contact info should be on the website :)
