This song is so fucking Badass! Never ever gets old. That guitar is phenomenal the whole band is better than anything I have heard in the last decade or two!!
I bought this TYA album whilst serving in the army in Germany during the 1970’s. This was my favourite track, and hearing it again over forty years later, brings it all flooding back like yesterday.
Interesting same here with me !!! i never looked back as i have all their albums and cannot stop listening to them; However i hate say this was their last good album with the classic lineup as Positive Vibrations was a disappointment....
@@bryansundvall6111 looks like we have the same taste !!! not sure why I'd love to change the world was not on their 1973 live album..... Great album even though little mellower than the others... Cricklewood Green my personal favorite...
I still have my original vinyl copy of this album that I bought as a kid in high school when it was new. It, along with Deep Purple's In Rock, were the first albums I mostly wore out from playing. Back then, Alvin Lee was frequently referred to as the "world's fastest" rock guitarist.
I couldn’t agree more with the comment about the piece becoming something very special at 3:48….it just builds and builds to that train whistle which merges brilliantly with the music. The emptiness of the wind blowing at the end makes it so poignant. Superb!
I saw TYA in Tokyo in 71. I think it was, and they brought the house down. Now, I saw a lot of concerts in Japan like Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, and many more, but the crowd enthusiasm was epic, in proportion to other groups. I say this w/o bias, however, in full disclosure, I've been an admirer of their work for 55 years. TYAMLS
This was released in 1970 [ ? ] ! This comment in, December 5, 2020. From 3:42 on it merges into one of the Best Duel Solo's [ as best as I can describe it ] that were Ever Recorded ! It's phenomenal ! The Bass and The Guitar work are rarely found in any recordings today ! / It's a Gem and a masterpiece of musicianship !
We've got this album, and I must say that Alvin Lee is one of the most underrated guitar players there is. When listening to this song in our BIG STEREO, it really feels like we've been run over by the train at the end. Wow!!
Yes it does seem weird that so many people never heard of TYA. I was rocking out to them in then late '60s and on. Their only song that got any airtime was I'd Love To Change The World. That's a great song but they have so many awesome songs, some way better than that one. Rock on Bros. ✌❤🤘
And FM rock radio stations will play Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger," every day and never play songs like this. What a comedy rock music has become when radio doesn't know what really matters. Throw in "Choo Choo Mama," too. An incredible rocker, but totally ignored. RIP Alvin Lee. You were one of the best.
Well, I'm standin' at the station And the rain don't make a sound Got a Bible in my pocket Cause my plane was just shot down My mind is all confusion I believe I'm in a play Throw my Bible out the window As the train goes on i'ts way Gonna leave my blues behind me Gonna find another town Gonna try and find some people Who this time won't bring me down As I step out of the carriage The station looks the same As the one I left behind me Though it has another name
I've seen them twice, and the songs that stand out (among others) are: I'm going home, turned off tv blues and rock and roll music to the world. He was heavily influenced by the blues.
Long, long history of being a TYA fan. While Alvin shouts and beats the riffs through his guitar, with great taste...it is more subtle. Choo Choo Mama and ....but if you compare it to others it seems to be a real nod to Chick Churchill. Not disrespecting Alvin at all but Chick really gets to shine on this LP and gets a lot more time on tracks than ever before. And yeah, Alvin goes nutzz towards the end on this baby until the train fades away down the tracks.
One of the all time greatest bands.... The nonsense music that is going on these days is pathetic; musicians these days should take notice of bands like this..
They have taken out Chick Churchill's synth solo ! The best part of the song . His Hammond is great and we then get back to Alvin Lee on guitar . Not like the original record , which was much better .
Was fortunate enough to see them in Little Rock in the early 70s, one of the best . Remember the end of this song Alvin using the mic stand to make the train sound running that ES335 back and forth across it like a 5 foot slide.
50 years later we are starting to appreciate the musicianship of these guys and the production.
The greatest speed guitarist of all time. No one any where near him. The ultimate player.
One of the greatest solos of all time ! Love this song.
3 chords to orgasm?
To see this Live, awesome, Spectrum with Wild Turkey, and Bo Diddley. Everyone was left, Standing at the Station
He tears into that solo like it's now or never. it's incredible 3:45 !!
Alvin Lee never got the respect he deserved when he was alive. Not in Rock and roll hall of SHAME, or winning a Grammy, A true rocker.
Leo Lyons, Chick Churchill, Ric Lee and the master, Alvin Lee…They were fantastic.
You are so right. Badass Rock n Rollers.

One of the best keyboard solos of all time! Of course Alvin Lee is no slouch as his speedy guitar playing abilities shine on !
Wow, I remember this one...and still get goosebumps after all these years. Incredible playing.
one of their greatest songs
How many times did we lift the roof until the wee small hours rocking to this and lost in a Space in Time.
And don't forget cricklewood green
When I first heard TYA in 69 woodstock I didn't know AL was 10yrs younger than my mother. What a difference a generation makes.

When you listen to this it gets baked into your being. BADASS......

At 3:48 the track becomes complete masterpiece and Alvin Lee shows what a great solist he is.
I agree. Always been great to listen to. He kicks ass here.
One of the most underrated bands of all time and guitarists, the late Alvin Lee.

Was weaned on this album. God speed Alvin.
It's such a sad song. He wrote this for his brother who died in the war. Instead of cursing the devil he loses his faith. Tragic times two.
I see a connection for this group in the future Martin Page and Robert Plants bands besides Pink Floyd heard them on Tunein Pro radio app. 👍💯🥰😇
Fabulous song....
Their best track IMHO
love this.....thanks big brother for reminding me to listen to it
dans le top 3 de tya, cet album !
This is my most favered organ solo. The other being mr. Lord on the deep purple fireball album. No no no. The solo there is just as good

It's such a sad song where Alvin loses his faith, blaming God where the devil was easily at work.
