You really need to properly store that facemask. It wards off potential virus containing particles. Say it has successfully warded off those particles from an encounter and thus is contaminated. When you just stash your mask away in your front pocket like that, it contaminates the whole pocket and every item in there. Thus, it also has a chance to contaminate the inside of your mask which you will be putting on your mouth and breath in potential virus containing particles. Take really good care of your mask.
