Dan Millman describes a way of life where the focused attention of the gymnast is applied to all facets of daily life -- from eating and walking to working and relating with others. Generally we blame our emotions on conditions outside of ourselves to which we react. Seldom do we choose to take responsibility for our own feelings. In this dynamic, two-part program, Millman suggests that we can find happiness if we commit ourselves to being present to the "now" moments of life. By being open to the power of each moment we find within ourselves naturally unfolding talents such as clairvoyance and telepathy.
Dan Millman, author of Way of the Peaceful Warrior, is a former world trampoline champion and co-captain of the 1968 University of California NCAA champion gymnastics team. He has coached gymnastics at Stanford, Oberlin and Berkeley.

possibly my single favorite book of all time. it just came to me at the perfect time in my life.
I was and still am not much of a reader at all. I was walking down the sidewalk and this book was in a cart of free books, in front of a used books store. I took this book not even sure that I would read it, and wow.

Lucky you! Hope I found out about it earlier. You know what, I didn't place any such demand in my life so nothing happened and I didn't grow. That's why I couldn't manifest my best self. But from this moment onwards, I am my best self. 😁 Have a great day.

A Peaceful Warrior is someone who identifies himself with the Universe--whose way is the Real--Beauty, Goodness and Peace. No matter what is happening in his world, he remains in his resolve to be a child of the Universe. He recognizes the ways on which he can shun the ugliness of what's going on around him and keep the goodness in himself.

Dan was 20-30 years ahead of his time .I dicovered him watching the movie and eventually I read his book "The Warrior Athlete" which teaches the mind-body connection .In this book he talks of the future training for athletes including things like yoga ,etc and now pro teams hire Yoga instructors for their teams . Also today they now know the importance of mind-body for better performance but he wrote that book in 1985 . Same with the "In the moment " phylosophy thats everywhere now . Should be more well known . Best self help phylosophy i have ever used .

I first read the book during my first year in college in 1991. Right now, as always, I don't have a copy of it because I'm always giving them away. I sure hope that some of the people I gave that gift to took advantage of it, and read it. That book changed my life then. And I've referred to it countless time over the course of my life.

Dan was my dorm head at Oberlin College my freshman (1979-1980) year. He was also the diving coach. He taught us to juggle during Freshman Orientation. We had no idea how far his philosophy would take him. I am proud to have known him. :) There was NO gymnastics team at Oberlin during the 4 years I was there. So, I don't know how they got him as a gymnastics coach at Oberlin.

    Where are you? "Here"
    What time is it? "Now"
I think the two most important questions we should ask ourselves whenever we feel that our mind is wandering in some past or worrying about some future outcome, leaving behind this beautiful present moment.

I really really love Jeffrey's interviewing style. He is calm, doesn't take over the interview, doesn't butt, adds his own thoughts and interpretations. If the interview is being performed by Jeffrey I am very happy to listen. I really enjoy the guests he chooses to have on his program. Many thanks Jeffrey.

Labeling can be useful. But knowing Christians (i am one of them) most of us need the person they draw inspiration from to belong to our faith. (I don't). Millman appeals to me personally because I believe his teachings will improve my life and my faith.

I was about 21 when I read this book and I really got into it. I was mad at the end of the book because I felt like it left me hanging and I was looking for that great ending or the prize if you will. It wasn’t until the second time I read it that I understood and I finally learned in my life that I no longer needed a reason to be happy!
I will always have many questions in this lifetime, but I am content with never having to know the answers!

im not going to get into a religious debate but you believe what you were raised and conditioned to believe. Beliefs change as life goes on. Thats a fact of life.Everything is impermanent. But i wish you greatness on your quest for the lord.

The other day, I felt a little heart broken. I recognized my breathing was inhaling deeply, but having a shortness of breathing out. It's kind of odd to recognize your body breathing pattern when you are caught in the moment.

Getting rich does not make us happy ?? Hahahahaha .. are you living under a rock? Being rich gives you freedom, any house you and your friends with.. any car you want .. any clothes you want .. millions to your favourite charities .. etc...

    • @kennydolby1379
      @kennydolby1379 6 днів тому

It's easier to be happy when you rich, cos having money allows you to deal with life's problems faster. The catch is that there are some problems, that even money cant solve.
The point is that no matter how rich you are, there's always gonna be some BS that life throws at you... so you better have some mental discipline, cos money alone wont be enough.
