It's just wonderful to see, whenever I google something I don't understand in Reaper, there's older video's of you that are already helpful. But then there's the newer, faster, more to the point and neatly summarized, updated video's regarding the same functions. You are a natural born teacher and it's a beautiful thing to see you refine your art of teaching.
Wow, that's awesome! I've stayed away from razor editing as it seemed a bit tricky, but setting it up this way is gonna be my default from now. Thank you Kenny!
I know it doesn’t come with Reaper but BirdBird’s razor edit utility is an amazing add-on for this sort of thing. You can basically make razor edits do anything. The cleverest but for me is ability to add follow on actions which get performed when you release the mouse button. Here, this completely removes the need for a separate delete step. You just draw an area and its contents get deleted - all in one mouse movement!
An even faster way to delete is changing your delete key to something else like W or E. My hand always rests there because my most used shortcuts live there (A, S, D, Q, etc)
at 3:50 It should totally write out BOTH options in the Mouse Modifiers menu in the Behavior column as a list, not just the last (Razor Clear in this case) action. That way you would be able to see them all at a glance. This is a UI issue, please fix this!
@@ARE_YOU_SICK_OF_YT_CENSORSHIPNo, I mean it should write BOTH actions attached to the mouse click command: Razor Clear, AND Delete Area Contents. Both work at the same time, but only Razor Clear is indicated under Behaviour. Or I'm missing something.
@@galgogergo custom action individual actions aren't listed in mouse modifiers section, imagine custom actions consisting of a dozen of those, that would be ungainly, only the custom action name is listed
It doesn't need to be on to work. That just allows you to use razor edit by left dragging. You can also use Alt on the PC or Option on the Mac and Right Drag at any time.
Absolutely...... Incorrect! I've used them all in my 35 year career. Reaper just gives you many ways and options to tackle any problem or action you want to do. You have to spend the time to customize Reaper the way you want to work. Just hang out in the Cockos Forums try some scripts and dedicate some time to getting it the way you want it. It Can do anything, it can do more than any other DAW ever made and do it faster, if you spend the time. Then just backup those settings because you only have to do it once. Best of luck.

Oh hell yeah!
I love how much control Reaper gives you over how it functions.
Amazingly convenient.
Great info... Have missed your videos.. hope you are well!
Thank you for pausing every few words as you explain. It makes it possible for me to process the info much more.

great vid but I don't have the razor toolbar button...

that's how Kenny named his custom action, it's not REAPER's fault, neither it's Kenny's for that matter

@@ARE_YOU_SICK_OF_YT_CENSORSHIP Ahh, I see
How did you duplicate the track you highlighed?
That would be a BIG time and effort saver in Pro Tools
It looks like your Razor Edit icon in the tool bar is NOT turned on. Is that correct? Thank you.

THANKS BROTHER
I tried this and the whole track disappeared. Not just the click-n-drag section.
Reaper has Way too many prompts to do basic edits. Time consuming and terrible work flow. This app is awful.
