Tony was the secret star of the show. Kind of like Ricky on The Nelson's.

Some show runners were great at keeping their kid actors on the straight and narrow - Little House, Waltons, Andy Griffith and Leave it to Beaver come to mind. It made a difference when people like Michael Landon really cared about his kids and were involved in their life. I heard they were very protective of the kids on the Beaver set too.

Wow! Did it hit you the way it hit me? Michelangelo could see figures inside marble the way Tony Dow could see figures inside the wood. I remember high school wood shop and metal shop back in the 1970's. We had the same tools! Repurposing the wood, he found in the wilderness around his home, is so eco friendly. A house that he and his wife made into a home is living the dream.

I was watching reruns this morning and mentioning to my Altzheimer client how all girls had such a crush on Tony. So I decided to see what he is doing now. Glad to see he is sculpting. My father could do anything but was happiest when working in wood.
Working in wood keeps you grounded to the earth. His woodshop is amazing.
    He looks happy.
Good to know you are in a good place Tony!!!!!

Very intriguing and nice Mr. Dow sir. I kind of come from a family of a few artists. My Mother back when she was in school and a little after, my older Brother and my Cousin. So, I decided to take a crack at doing painting too a few years ago, and am now also a creative artist.

Same voice after all these years! Still, you need to wear a respirator or at least a dust mask when sanding wood- it's very irritating to the respiratory tract. It's interesting!
Watching Tony Dow, on "Leave It To Beaver." He was such a great guy and big brother to the Beaver. This episode shows Beaver to be a bunny rabbit, participating in his school pageant. Apparently, on the way to school driving in Lumpy's car, they had a flat. Beaver, had to walk the rest of the way and was curiously followed by dogs, and other people. Nevertheless, Beaver stop at a phone booth, called home and got no answer, and ended up dialing 911. To end a long story, he got transported by the police, finally got to school in time for the play, and performed wonderfully. Interestingly, Wally played a neat big brother role and it all ended nicely.

When I was in undergrad school, I took a course, "Greek Culture In and Of The Arts." The course involved almost exclusively the sculptures of the day. I speak fluent French, and to find that you have your work accepted in The Louvre is such a wonderful honor, but truly bespeaks your expertise in your art work. Personally, I love it, and would pay top dollar for it. Thank you very much for sharing this with us.

I had a memorable experience meeting Tony Dow at the Bally's Health Club in Indianapolis several years ago. He was in the men's locker room standing on the scale, and I was directly behind him and didn't know who he was at all. He stepped off the scale in frustration and later on it dawned on me that he was in town. I asked him who he was and after he told me I asked him many questions about LEAVE IT TO BEAVER. He didn't seem impressed but I was not easily discouraged. I'll never forget it.

Tony Dow: in consensus with the other people who appreciate your show (Leave it to Beaver) I would ALWAYS watch it after school! And now that I am 63, I'm watching the whole series for the 2nd time (Netflix, thank God for Netflix). The time of innocence is gone . . . but I sure do miss those times, when kids were kids and adults were decent, respectful, loving, guarding, leaders and someone we (kids) could look up to for direction. It will never be the same again. God bless you.

Your mom is right. Times were not all rosy. In that day-if you were white and affluent-then you had it pretty made. I refer to the good times I chanced to experience, trying all the while to forget the cruelty hurled at me as I was growing up. I am hispanic and not rich. I can and do pray for those who hurt me and wished me evil, that they will learn the difference btwn right and wrong. Otherwise if I reciprocate, i am no better than they.

I think I remember that dinner matinee (1980?). I wanted to go. I stood behind a frustrated Tony Dow at a BALLY's Gymnasium near Castleton in Indianapolis several years ago (1995), while he stood on the scale. He apparently was not too thrilled about what he saw. I could hardly believe it was him when I asked his name. I hit him with lots of questions about characters, which he claimed he couldn't remember.
