- Modern history can be divided into two time frames: before 9/11 and after 9/11. This five-part docuseries from director Brian Knappenberger is a cohesive chronicle of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the U.S., offering illuminating perspectives and personal stories of how the catastrophic events of that day changed the course of the nation. From the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1979 to the country’s breathtaking collapse back into the hands of the Taliban just weeks before the twentieth anniversary of the attacks, history continues to be made.

How did America create the problem? When the terrorist hit us first?
The US deployed to launch an attack on those who were responsible for the 9/11 attack. And they did. They eliminated bin laden, and several other leaders. The US job was to never help Afghanistan to build its nation. In fact, the US military did help train some of the Afghanistan army. And what happens after they leave? @@haiderzal The narrative was that they had WMD's. Bush told Saddam to disarm or leave or else we'd invade the country in order to disarm them ourselves. And so that's what we did. Bush attended the White House Correspondents Dinner (which to be fair is intended to be lighthearted and full of jokes) where he showed pictures of himself looking under his desk trying to find WMD's. But it still said a lot that the primary reason for us invading a country that at the time had already resulted in thousands of people dying had already been turned into a punchline by the person who authorized the invasion.

I watched this unfold on international TV. I was in Turkey at the time. Incredibly ALL planes on earth were grounded. I remember hearing American news reporters that still thought it might be an accident and just being astonished that they didn't understand they were under attack. America thought they were invincible I guess. Then the other plane hit.
I actually knew the world had changed forever. I said the world is going to war.
Strangely I went down to the pool to get a beer and told them what had happened and no one seemed interested. One said, the sun is shining who cares. Then later they saw it on TV and only then did they realise it was important.
It was one of the first times I realised how many people need others to tell them what to think.
@bbabbich3467 - Nosense they realised within a couple of hours maximum. Some were speculating even before the second plane hit. But it was OBVIOUS as soon as one plane hit and ridiculously obvious once a second one hit.
It is so weird to see people rewriting a history I lived through.
They were just in shock and could not accept they were under attack until it was completely obvious when a second plane hit.
But Americans are odd like this. They could not accept there was an attempted insurrection but I knew in advance that was what he was planning. Even now I see Americans say "That wasn't an attempted insurrection". They attempted to stop the peaceful transition of power. That is an insurrection.
The MAGA movement is outright fascism. Of course, it ended like that. Fascists don't respect democracy.

I have never seen a documentary yet but I will definitely watch this one
RIP all innocent victims in this human tragedy . I pray to Allah for a peacful world . My warm condolences to all families who lost their beloved , I hope that God gives you comfort and peace of mind
This was heartbreaking to watch, but i strongly recommend it. I was just a kid in Sweden when 9/11 happened, and my understanding of what exactly happened was lacking. I know more now after watching this, but still, I find it mind boggling. So much violence, so much death and for what?
@Ismellfishallaround fish ?
Setting aside the tragedy of 9/11 what it lead to was a war that lasted 20 years and achieved nothing but death so much death
It really is crazy to think that it wasn't just a U.S. event. It didn't just impact the U.S. 9/11 quite literally changed the world in numerous ways, with not just ripple effects, but monstrous waves that still impact us to this day and will for a long long time.
Watched the first episode in history yesterday. Its so good and amazingly put together. Highly recommend
I'm watching this right now. Keeping a close eye out for propaganda.
Oh god you must be under 25.
@@Pugnaxxx propaganda exists the timing is impeccable.
actually they were highly critical of US army and government and war on terror
@@NoCreativeNameGirl no. They were absolutely not critical. The US killed a million civilians in those wars and still presents this as a just cause that was just wrongly executed.
Do they tell the true story or are they saying its all talibans fault?
I was on vacation visiting my cousin and he was working at the American Express building, I was just walking out of the building because I didn't have breakfast when a tremendous noise left me deaf for a minute and suddenly the sky became dark from that moment my instincts of survival woke me up and I ran to the opposite side of the noise and that it when I saw what it was happening and in less than 10 minutes another noise!
I am a 9/11 baby I was living here though that darkest time I was 1 years old I am 22 now
Where did the plane go that “crashed” in shanksville? It’s weird that a plane would crash in an open field, leave a hole in the ground with no wreckage 🤔
Still 💯% ALL on BUSH! Stop trying to change the past. EVERYTHING He did caused the future. NOBODY else can be blamed, in ANY way. Facts🤙
What a great time to release this 😃
Cool. Let's see their take on building 7.
I think they will leave that building out as well as some other details maybe.
I was looking for that too... wasn't even brought up.
What? The north tower damaged it and it’s fuel reserves caught fire. No conspiracy. Look into Alfreda Bikowsky instead and stop choking on disinformation and red herrings. It is still an open question how exactly the CIA “failed” on 9/11. The fact Bikowsky is still with the agency is a testament to this.
Somebody did something.
*This is NOTHING until you watch Loose Change: Final Cut (2007), and Fahrenheit 9/11 (2004)*
I am still trying to see the plane that hit the pentagon? Please can someone help.
The Gov has released a grainy gas station cam from across the street and two still pictures of something gray looking like a missle. That’s all the gov has released despite the pentagon having the most cameras in the world
@@Racinrasslinfan36 That's what I thought. Dodgey AF
Are you guys forgetting this over 20 years ago? Nothing was digital back then in terms of cameras or CCTV footage😂
Also something grey looking like a middle? The plane hit sideways both wings was taken off the plane before it was caught by the camera. Here go, a plane without wings? Yeah I’d say that might look like a middle of your looking at it through 20 year old CCTV that has been washed through so many systems to be put in a HD film😂
The total number of casualties of the War on Terror in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan at between 518,000 and 549,000. This number increases to between 897,000 and 929,000 when the wars in Syria, Yemen, and other countries are included. The report estimated that many more may have died from indirect effects of war such as water loss and disease.[266][267][38] They also estimated that over 38 million people have been displaced by the post-9/11 wars participated in by the United States in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, and the Philippines; 26.7 million people have returned home following displacement.
hah! some producer has been sitting on this just waiting for the right time to release!
Cant wait for them to make a documentary on the inevitable second 9/11.
Turning Red but actually historically accurate. Thank you Netflix!

⚠️ Netflix please read this ⚠️
Why did you show someone hitting the ground from when they fell from the wtc?! I knew there would be graphic imagery i.e, planes crashing, people jumping (but panning the camera away), people hanging out of windows.....like every other documentary shows. But not people hitting the ground and seeing a massive red splatter. Me and my mum were not expecting it, and it made us feel sick. You know that the people that jumped, hit the ground - you don't need to see it to know that. That's someone's loved one, a brother, sister or mother etc. and i think you went a bit too far with the graphic imagery.
Please either remove it or if you keep it in, put an extra warning before that particular scene as I'm sure I'm not the only one that felt this way ⚠️⚠️⚠️
Thanks
Really really good documentary. Interesting background leading up to 9/11 that I was pretty ignorant about. Profoundly sad, obviously, due to the horrific events the 9/11 victims endured and what their families went and are going through. But damn, the soldiers’ stories really got to me. And the corrupt Afghan government. Oh my gosh. 💔💔💔
Jet fuel don't melt steel, and yes, you are ignorant
Well the Taliban have cleansed them
I just feel bad for the civilian who passed away in Afghanistan and the US, the governments created the issues and the poor souls paid for it. Prayers and strength to everyone who lost a loved one ❤️ also I can’t imagine what the Muslim community went through here in the US all the harassment and bullying like the world turned against them!
Bizarre take on the events.
Whatever muslim community see what they do to minorities in pak afghan kashmir
What civilian?
What are you talking about? The Muslim community essentially is a protected class now, you’re never allowed to be critical or hold them accountable. It’s always “well, not all Muslims…” despite the fact that a Pew Research released poll that was conducted a few years ago where they asked Muslims their thoughts on things like sharia law and jihad. Over 80% of Muslims polled supported it. These were Muslims from all over the world, mind you.
Netflix was waiting 20 years for this
Just got done watching. The propaganda has permeated so deep into the culture at this point, there’s no hope.
I remember seeing him whisper in the bush’s ear and bush just sits there……. Doesn’t do anything for some time but sit there and my parents where being blown away by his lack of response. He eventually pulled all planes from the air and cancelled all flights for a few days. Such a tragic day. Never forget
It feels so weird to call this war a historic event... it literally ended like two years ago. Hell, I was literally born 4 years after the fall of the towers... y’all are making me feel old, I ain’t even in my twenties yet.
