  • Modern history can be divided into two time frames: before 9/11 and after 9/11. This five-part docuseries from director Brian Knappenberger is a cohesive chronicle of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the U.S., offering illuminating perspectives and personal stories of how the catastrophic events of that day changed the course of the nation. From the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1979 to the country’s breathtaking collapse back into the hands of the Taliban just weeks before the twentieth anniversary of the attacks, history continues to be made.

The US deployed to launch an attack on those who were responsible for the 9/11 attack. And they did. They eliminated bin laden, and several other leaders. The US job was to never help Afghanistan to build its nation. In fact, the US military did help train some of the Afghanistan army. And what happens after they leave? Not even a month goes by, and the Afghans can't handle themselves without having the US to babysit. If the Afghans military don't have the courage and moral to even defend their own country, why should other nations including the US do?

Steller wind, the patriot act and Guantanamo, everything that went immensely wrong has been mentioned and backed up with great research and proof. Though I wish they could have focused a little more on the current scenario too, the situation in Afghanistan and the impulsive decision to take out troops. But it doesn't do so without presenting coherent and compelling opinions and information that helps us ponder such feelings. "Turning point: 9/11 and the War on Terror" is also helpful to those who were not born or were too young 20 years ago to understand the reason we will not forget that day. Excellent series!

I watched this unfold on international TV. I was in Turkey at the time. Incredibly ALL planes on earth were grounded. I remember hearing American news reporters that still thought it might be an accident and just being astonished that they didn't understand they were under attack. America thought they were invincible I guess. Then the other plane hit.
I actually knew the world had changed forever. I said the world is going to war.
Strangely I went down to the pool to get a beer and told them what had happened and no one seemed interested. One said, the sun is shining who cares. Then later they saw it on TV and only then did they realise it was important.
It was one of the first times I realised how many people need others to tell them what to think.

    • @AnyoneCanSee
      @AnyoneCanSee Рік тому

@bbabbich3467 - Nosense they realised within a couple of hours maximum. Some were speculating even before the second plane hit. But it was OBVIOUS as soon as one plane hit and ridiculously obvious once a second one hit.
It is so weird to see people rewriting a history I lived through.
They were just in shock and could not accept they were under attack until it was completely obvious when a second plane hit.
But Americans are odd like this. They could not accept there was an attempted insurrection but I knew in advance that was what he was planning. Even now I see Americans say "That wasn't an attempted insurrection". They attempted to stop the peaceful transition of power. That is an insurrection.
The MAGA movement is outright fascism. Of course, it ended like that. Fascists don't respect democracy.

She told us there was a "plane crash" and to call home if your parents worked in or around Manhatten (we were a 2 hour drive away, but many commute to work there).
She made it sound like an accident. School continued like normal after that. It wasn't until I got home and my sister turned on the news that I saw it happen.

This number increases to between 897,000 and 929,000 when the wars in Syria, Yemen, and other countries are included. The report estimated that many more may have died from indirect effects of war such as water loss and disease.[266][267][38] They also estimated that over 38 million people have been displaced by the post-9/11 wars participated in by the United States in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, and the Philippines; 26.7 million people have returned home following displacement.

⚠️ Netflix please read this ⚠️
Why did you show someone hitting the ground from when they fell from the wtc?! I knew there would be graphic imagery i.e, planes crashing, people jumping (but panning the camera away), people hanging out of windows.....like every other documentary shows. But not people hitting the ground and seeing a massive red splatter. Me and my mum were not expecting it, and it made us feel sick. You know that the people that jumped, hit the ground - you don't need to see it to know that. That's someone's loved one, a brother, sister or mother etc. and i think you went a bit too far with the graphic imagery.
Please either remove it or if you keep it in, put an extra warning before that particular scene as I'm sure I'm not the only one that felt this way ⚠️⚠️⚠️
    Thanks

It’s always “well, not all Muslims…” despite the fact that a Pew Research released poll that was conducted a few years ago where they asked Muslims their thoughts on things like sharia law and jihad. Over 80% of Muslims polled supported it. These were Muslims from all over the world, mind you.
