- From series 12, prevent Alex from scoring a goal. The ball and goalpost must be on their spots when Alex attempts to score a goal. You must be 12 yards from the ball when Alex attempts to score. Slowest goal scored by Alex wins.

I love how baffled Victoria is whenever something goes against her world-view. She’s so unabashedly confident in her own logic and reasoning and it immediately collapsed. Amazing contestant… just not score wise.
I love it when extremely smart people hit a blind spot. "It never occurred to me that he could do that" is hysterical.
Her brother Giles is a you know well known and famous food critic who has his own shows from time to time. Obviously they came from you know the upper class middle class whatever you want to call it and they were never really play the place where they were not told how great they are and that's great and it's also funny when they're set with a task like riding a bicycle or playing soccer. Something you know they obviously didn't do growing up. Giles was on a show with Sue and they were doing some backyard gardening and he knew absolutely nothing about anything and was terrified of any kind of animal. Very funny

And yet Victoria managed to come second in this task. I think that is the best part of this task. One person gets the task and gets Horned, and the other doesn't get the task and gets Horned slightly slower. xD
Also how she opts for just standing going "Noo... No, NO NOOO!" instead of chasing the slow-moving ball... LOL!
I like that Morgana won not because of her goal-keeping ability, but because she set it up in a way where Alex believed it was just barely possible to score, and made him waste more time
That's soo true, Alex could have scored in less than 5 minutes
Alan also didn't remove the items alex set up, otherwise he would have lasted to the scissors as well.
In addition to that, after guz moved the ball point, alex only moved it back to it's original place. He could have also placed it directly in front of the line.
Alex tried to be as fair as possible.
"You moved the spot....so I'm gonna move the spot."
"Huh!?? You can do that?"
"....You did it."

I know its all about Comedy, but I would've found it hilarious if Guz had called an Uber and taken the spot away.
I was totally hoping Alex would put the spot right next to the goal line

My favourite part was seeing Morgana using a fully extentable tape measure like a tiny ruler.

@@JD86VintageI think her cheering actually helped her time. She kept encouraging Alex to do a more unlikely bank shot, rather than think of a way to bypass the obstacles like he did with Alan.

Watching these taskmaster challenges, I find myself thinking of ways to bend the rules.
No one said you couldnt move the spots the ball was on. I'd just move it further away?
I love that this task really showcased Alex himself, and his own capacity for dealing with the contestants' bullshit as he sees fit. I had several great laughs watching him sabotage the contestants' countermeasures, though I think the ones that took the cake were moving the spot back himself, and cutting the net.

Yeah if Guz can move the spot and so can he, he could have put it at 10yards from the goal --- and Guz wouldn't be allowed in goal by the 12yard rule. Stabbing "the ball" & shredding it seems the safest bet? The rules don't seem to allow replacing the ball (although in football, if the ball is damaged it gets replaced I assume, so by that logic Alex might have another ball at hand).
"I didn't know the ball could go upwards." Victoria was a great contestant in that she was both very smart and came up with some genius ideas but also the sort of person to just not consider all three dimensions in snookering Alex or that she could've moved to stop the slow-moving ball going in once he chipped it.
So true. As clever as she is, in this situation she needed the counsel of an illiterate 10 year old boy or old geezer in a pub.
Which makes me think that this is applicable on a higher level too. No "genius" should ever have free rein or absolute power. Every clevertrousers should be forcibly paired with a drunk bloke. Imagine Oppenheimer being stopped half way by his mate Barry: "Oi mate, 'ave you thought this through? You'll become death, the destroyer of worlds, innit?"

It’s like she’s so so so smart at what she knows but when she doesn’t know something she just absolutely short-circuits. I get it.
This is one of my absolute favourite tasks. I always enjoy the tasks where Alex actively gets involved.

My first two ideas were to deflate the ball and to put the ball and spot inside a passing car
Wrap the ball and spot in cling film and chuck it in the Thames, only a 3 minute walk.

That was my second idea after move the spot, tape it to the ball, call a cab and send it away. That or throw it into the river.
1:50 Kudos to the editors for that little violin flourish before Alex tries for Desiree. Fans have heard it before, and it makes you think there's going to be a whole montage, then there's just silence, so it's all the funnier. Great touch from someone in the editing room.
Alan just casually rolling over a piano like a cartoon character was one to me one of the funniest moments I've seen on the show

"I'm hoping that it's just a pretend football full of sweets" it's not often Victoria says what I'm thinking, but she got it there
I like to think the name and number have always been under that blazer just waiting for the right time
And that he knew from Day 1 that they’d eventually do a task like this in the 12th series
They had 15 minutes to move the spot/ball... If they took it and just travelled in one direction the whole time, then logically it would also take Alex 15 minutes to get to the spot/ball and 15 minutes to carry it back to the goal... Just take the ball/spot as far away as possible :D
(NB: I thought of that afterwards - Had I been in the situation, then I would surely not have thought of it)
Or just spend the 15 minutes driving Alex as far as you can, and then make him walk back to the house

This my exact thought as soon as they read out the task. Pick up the spot & ball, then leg it for 15 minutes across town.

As someone who doesn't like football, I loved this task. Especially when Alex used Guz's logic against him.

Step 1. Deflate the ball.
Step 2. Toss it on top of the cottage.
Step 3. Disassemble the goal.
Step 4. Enjoy a cup of tea whilst you sit atop the unassembled goal.
Nice that alex was nice enoughto put the ball back exactly where guz took it from so he could stilldefend the goal, nothing would've stopped him from putting it right in front of the goal to stop guz due to the 10ft rule
Gotta give the contestants a fighting chance.
To be fair to Desiree, she did stop Alex scoring a goal - by scoring it herself!

@@goliath_red1102 By the strict wording of the task, the ball that's on the spot is the ball that's supposed to be used for the task. Bringing out some other ball would arguably be against the spirit of the task, although I admit that with Taskmaster, the idea that the spirit of the task holds much weight is dubious at best.

Interesting idea, but I question how you’d actually be able to do this when Alex was not very far from the goal and the goal is see-through
@@TheKYLEdavid you would cover his field of view, but let a way for the ball to get through, make it seem like a mistake, after he shots, take the ball throw an identical ball in the goal, hide his ball, act like he scored

If Alex was there just tell him to go inside and not look until the time comes, ask of the other stuff a similar ball, most certainly they would have one, go and search for things like cardboard boxes and make a wall in like 3-5 m in front of the goal, put the side that closes from the box on the lower part of the wall so it would seem like you just didn't think it through, most probably Alex would take the bait and shoot through there for an easy goal then just hide the second ball close to the goal. When he shoots he won't see if he got it in or not, you just catch the ball knowing where it will come from, and put the second ball in the goal, then hide Alex's ball, you should have time while he would go around the wall and if you act like it went in, he won't hurry to come and see probably
I was very surprised none of the contestants nailed the ball to the spot
"It's a lovely football, I'm not good at any of this stuff!" while walking with a swagger that says "Just bring it, Alex!" That is top class!

I'm surprised nobody bribed a production team member to just drive the ball on its spot in a box as far away from the house as possible and not come back for like an hour.
You know, if this had happened in a different series, one with slightly more deranged contestants, Alex would probably have found himself either tied up or abducted from the area.

I've seen this task so many times but I never noticed it before today
I'm surprised nobody just sliced up the ball in little parts and placed them back on the spot
save alex's first shot, then drop kick the ball as far as you can

And when Alex put back the red dot, why did he put it 12 yards away from the goal?
My first 2 thoughts are 1) use a ladder to put the ball on the back side of the roof and pull the ladder up after me. 2) go put the ball in the back of a passing car. He can score it when he tracks down that random motorist
Imagine taping the spot to the ball and then throwing it in the river. We would still be waiting for that goal to be scored.

Alex scores more goals than England at the Euros
easiest way would be to take the ball and spike and go over the fence and just walk or run 10+ minutes away then while alex if he decides to go watch the ball, take the fence and its spot and take it across the street or pull it apart and stack it onto the spot into the garage or lock it into the bathroom in the tub. that way while it takes him 10 or so minutes to grab the ball and put it back in the yard. he has to put the fence back together and back in the yard. could even cut up the spot into parts and put different pieces in different rooms while also locked :)

The task said to stop ALEX from scoring a goal, technically Desiree scored a goal there, not Alex.
Since Alex's shot was on target, the goal would be given to Alex if this occurred in a professional game.
When the ball goes off the keeper and into the goal, are they recorded as the scorer against themselves?
@@Roccondil Only if the initial shot by the opposition player isn't on target. If the initial shot was on target but it was deflected into a different part of the goal by the goalie, the goal goes to the opposition player. If it was going to go out of play/not hit the target but a deflection drove it into the goal, that's an own goal.
honestly i’m on victoria’s side when alex walked up to the ball i out loud said “no way he chips that in”
sad that none of the contestants thought to mess with the ball itself, I would have tried to cut it up or deflate it somehow
