Goosebumps. It's so peaceful and yet so full of introspection and retrospection on conflict, pain and love and doubt and joy and beauty bygone and still present, well, life. Makes me think of "Nun komm' der Heiden Heiland", another choral prelude which they may play at my funeral (which will feature hours and hours of Bach, I'm afraid).

Obscur antissimus, haha....very recognisable. Hope your funeral and mine as well will be far far away. But at that time: “Vor deinem Thron trett’ ich” it’s there...........and it will be played.

What impresses me more is the performance of this piece by organist Maria Magdalena Kaczor. The performance and sound of the whole thing seem to be more subtle and are very moving for me, which is undoubtedly due to her.

Anyway, the sound of this is so amazing, I play Bach on the piano and this makes me want to be an organist, alas, my feet don't work, got a C in organ years ago. Echocornett? just amazing~!

He's always rushing on this piece, both here and on the CD version. Here he speeds up and slows down multiple times throughout, on the CD version, around the 6 minute mark. The inconsistency in the tempo really ruins the listening experience, especially on this piece, and this is one of my favorites. Ton is an awesome organist, really like his ornamentation choices.

If I remember correctly from a workshop by Rudolf Lutz of the Bach Stiftung, the chorale is part of a cantata having to do with Jesus' parable of the person who attended a wedding but didn't have on a wedding garment. To add my own take, perhaps, on this, one adorns his/her soul for communion with Christ and this was originally a Communion hymn. Hope this helps.

He has unlimited lungs , it's simply a shame to listen to organ music on youtube , as the sound comes from only , at best , 2-4 speakers , an organ has 1500+ " speaker , every note and stop is its independant speaker. By that I mean that hearing it live would not be annoying as you would ear every note perfectly , Our home speakers throw all the sound at the same place , some sound will disappear and make place to the stronger one .
