  • At this point we know a lot about how rocks form, but now we need to understand precisely how they are weathered. Weathering describes the forces and conditions that break down rocks that are exposed at the surface into smaller fragments. This can occur via physical weathering or chemical weathering. Let's look at physical weathering first!

It’s pretty fascinating how all these processes work together to shape the geography of Earth we see today

Freezing water can apply up to 1 kilobar of pressure! Holy smokes! I knew it was a lot, but didn't realize it could be 15,000 psi. That's insane! Professor Dave, is that pressure indirectly measured with some kind of strain gauge, or is there some other instrument?

I'm so thrilled I happened upon your channel. It is absolutely fascinating and wonderful. Breaking down complex things into bite size chunks is a talent that you exemplify! I'm a touring musician who has a lot of downtime on the road....I grew tired of movies and such years ago and got into documentaries. Im not a college graduate, im not an expert on anything. (except for wisdom gained through age)....but I have an unquenchable curiosity for our world...and I like the way you explain it. Thanks for the engaging and fantastic content. Brilliant work and presentation Dave. I subscribed!

Hi Professor Dave. Huge fan. Have you managed to look at in-vivo gene editing at all using CAS9. There is a lot of noise out there and it’s not clear how this works in mammals such as humans. Apparently, it’s been done successfully. How does this work?

Ya man these new vids seem way too nuanced and directed towards like high school and middle school geology and economics enthusiasts and …boring. You should make vids for people who don’t have time to slow down their learning for others

@@bugsbunny852 I have no idea what you mean, my format has not changed, I'm just always expanding into new topics. Currently geology and economics are two of those topics. There is not change in the target demographic, high school and early undergraduates.
