I didn't know what to expect from a Supro, because I have a Princeton Reverb. These two amp are complete opposite, Princeton=Chime, Supro RK1970=Mid-range growl. Once I understood that it became such a great amp. Now I know which pedals will play better with either amp depending on the pedal's core tone frequencies.
Thanks for the demo. This Supro will be my next PB amp. From what I hear on UA-cam, it sounds to be on the darker side which will contrast my Fender Blues Junior nicely. By the way, you need a bigger knife.
Good choice! It is a bit darker amp than most which we like with our strats and teles a bunch! And we will work on finding a bigger knife for the next box:)
I’m into heavy ambient and was looking for another amp…I was going to buy a 1968 Supro/Keeley 12. But I ended up getting the Orange Rocker 32. The Supro/Keeley 12 is an awesome amp though. Imaddictedtopedals
I'm actually looking at those two amps. Why did you decide on the orange over the supro? I'm into ambient as well, but also death doom and experimental black metal. Which do you think I may prefer? (I live in the middle of nowhere. I have to try at home and ship back, etc)
Wish it was a 12 inch. I’m aware it’s personal preference, but I definitely want to be able to cut through more and have just more umph. I think a 2x10 would have been really cool too.
Ben, I am in the same boat as you. Would have loved it as a 12" BUT there is hope. As per Keeleys site: What about an external speaker connection? You can connect another 8 ohm cabinet or speaker to the Transfer Jack on the back. It will automatically put the two speakers in parallel and changes the transformer tap to 4 ohms for an even greater bass response! If you want to use only your 8 ohm speaker, then unplug the stock speaker and connect to the Speaker Jack. So if ya really don't like how the 10 performs, you can get an extension. :) I think this amp will find itself in my bedroom. And I ever need more volume in the future because I hooked up with a group or something, I'll look at the extension.
I currently play thru a Blues Junior, but find myself wishing for more clean headroom. What's your opinion on the Supro having "extra" clean headroom compared to the Blues Junior?
Hi, Jonathan here. I definitely think it has more than the Blues Jr. It's designed to have the headroom and its slightly higher wattage, so for me it definitely wins over the Blues Jr in that category, and with pedals in general. Thanks for watching!!
I've had mine for a couple of days now. This is the amp I've been waiting for. It sounds sublime. Forget any concerns about the 10 inch speaker. It sounds amazing.
Would this be good for an HM-2 clone? I’m looking Supro amps but can’t decide between this or one of their 25w 1x12. In my experience the HM-2 gets it sound somewhat from the pre amp compression, reason why I’m asking. Do plan on playing with a fairly loud drummer so maybe the 12 inch speaker might come in handy?
Thanks for watching! It definitely has way more headroom and a tighter bottom end. It doesn't get flubby like a Princeton can with some overdrives or distortions. That being said, I love Princetons, but this is a different beast and definitely a better pedal platform.
Hi, my name is mariano, I want to buy a pedal platform to play from John Mayer to Mark Tremonti (with pedals) I am looking to Suhr Bella, Wampler Bravado, Supro keeley ir some other. Which do you recommend me?
Hi, Jacinto! Honestly, those are all great choices but I only have more than a little experience with the Supro. It'd definitely be a great choice for all those styles with pedals.
I'm using a Vox AC15 with a Celestion Creamback speaker. The clean channel sounds great with my Friedman BE-OD for distortion. The spring reverb and tremelo is a nice bonus.
Dude talks like Kenny Powers and plays guitar like a wizard. Good stuff.
Best description I've ever gotten. 😂
Kenny Fkin Powers
Great playing, Jonathan! Thank you for the tone and the emotion - both just beautiful!!
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it!
Yours was one of videos on Supro I watched before choosing the Vintage 1966 Thundeerbolt I purchased, Great Amps
This video helped me decide to pick up this amp. Great little amp

which one would you rather have? Deciding between this, a Princeton, DRRI, or a Tremlord but cannot decide..
Do you run them both in wet/dry/ stereo??
Awesome! Keeley is a living legend such a gifted human being, the Midas touch man
This is exactly what i was looking for. Thanks for the info.

Guy sounds like Danny McBride lol
Would this be the amp you would recommend for the "dirty" pedals as well?
That Vox in the lineup. Yum!

How is this amp at low volumes? Would like to get this and be able to play at home.
Shoutout to that time 4 years ago when Jonathan opened a Supro Box with a bayonet 😂😂🤣

You guys know now right? ❤
Nice video. Would have liked to hear more drive sounds
Thanks, I actually thought about that after we did it. Maybe we'll do another at some point with just dirt pedals. Thanks for the feedback!
@@guitarjonathan that would be awesome
Seems like an awesome amp! Does it have enough character if you play it on its own?
Dang need this
Pedal steel friendly. The "perfect" headroom for electric pickups.

Thats is fantastic to hear! Thank you for sharing and thrilled you love you're amp. That always makes us guys happy!
This was rad

Thank ya sir ! Longtime Princeton player, how does it compare beside more watts ?

Would you say it’s loud enough to get over a band in a practice room setting dude?
Yes she can handle it:)
Where do you have the amps controls set?
Does it take distortion pedals well?
It handles distortion pedals swimmingly! It really is a fantastic pedal platform and a great sounding amp to boot.
If it only had a 12 inch speaker vs the 10 inch !
One day my friend!
@@CasinoGuitars are you saying a 12" is coming?

Not a whole lot of tones tried. thanks for that one tone and some chat : (
Sorry we didn't hit the mark there for you taxman but thanks for watching and the comment nonetheless!
10" speaker? Dang
Sounds really bad, probably clipping the A/D converter while recording.
Great for praise and worship?
Pffffffhahahahhaaaa!!
Okay?
